    Hi Michaell, kyfdx

Dealer is offering me $400 a month, with 1000 out of pocket for a 2016 Q50 premium plus package. Illinois taxes so I believe 9.5%. MSRP $45,395. I know this deal does not list the selling price, fees, MF and residual. But assuming these factors are what they are supposed to be, do you think this is a good deal? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Relative to MSRP, it looks like a solid deal, especially if the $400 includes tax.

Yes, 400 includes taxes. I also thought it was a good deal. But then I saw some deals posted on forums where people are paying $350 or so for a $45k Q50. Damn! and there i thought i had it all figured out. I will try to negotiate further.

    Gross Cap Cost: $37,945.37

    $3k down
    Monthly payment: $335-$345

    Thanks!

    What is the mileage allowance?
Is $3000 the full amount due at signing?
Why is the Gross CAP over $1500 higher than the sale price?
Does the monthly payment include tax?

Thanks for the response!  Mileage is 12k per year. $3k is due at signing.  Gross cap includes $107.15 in tag fees. $135 doc fee and $700 acquisition fee.  Those were the only other fees so I believe you found a discrepancy.  Tax is included.

    .00005 MF and 49% residual.
If I subtract $2650 from the Gross CAP, I get about $316/mo.+tax. At 9% tax, that's about $345/mo.

If there are customer rebates involved in that big discount, those are taxed upfront, and that might account for some of that extra money in the CAP cost.

Pull back the $3000 and just make first payment only at signing (using Gross CAP as Adjusted CAP), and the payment is about $384/mo.+tax, or $418/mo. (that's how I would structure it).

Thanks so much for your feedback. This is all new to me. As far as I know, no rebates. I have been trying to beat them up a bit on price via-email. I wanted to get my monthly payment in the $330-$340 range and this is the numbers they came up with. They dropped the sale price a few times to get it here with the $3k down payment. I'm sure I went about this all wrong. Tax is 6% here. The link below is the vital info from the quote sheet I have. Is this a good deal for this car?

Using the numbers from the attached sheet, I get $325/mo with 6% tax added in. Not sure why the dealer says $335-345/mo

As my co-host noted, you don't want to put a lot of cash down on a lease - that money is at risk if the car is stolen or totaled. And, it masks the true monthly cost.

You're getting a great discount, and $400/mo would still be a great lease payment for a $47K car.

Please forgive my ignorance here and sorry for all of the questions. How did you get the $325/mo with 6% tax added in number?

And kydfx, how did you get the $384 or $418 a month number?

Have either you you used the 2x or 3x security deposit method?

I just want to go in there tomorrow completely educated and ready to answer any of their challenges. Thank you!

    The dealer's numbers are contradictory.
You have to remember that this is just a form where he inputs what he wants.. It doesn't have to add up. If they gave you a screenshot of the actual deal on the computer, the computer makes all the calculations.

On the right side of the form, they show $3000 all as CAP cost reduction.
But on the left side, the same amount is shown as "Amount Due". If some of that money goes to making the first payment, then both of those items can't be right.

I used $2650 as CAP cost reduction, to account for the first payment.

On the higher numbers, I priced the lease with ZERO CAP cost reduction, just to give an example of the true cost.

Also, how can the payment be a range? ($335-$345). Math doesn't work that way.

Multiple Security Deposits are of no use, as the money factor is practically zero, already.

The range apparently referred to if I was "tier 1" whatever that is. I guess credit approval. I'm over 800 so that won't be a problem.

Thanks for the security deposit advice. I just came across that method yesterday and it was foreign to me. As if you couldn't tell, this is my first attempt at leasing. I generally purchase.

Does it make sense to go in there and say what is your best monthly price with the only money down money being first months payment or am I putting myself at a disadvantage by doing that? I was only putting money down to lower my payment but you made a great point about it being totaled/stolen.

    Thanks

Q50 3.0T Premium comes with the Driver Assistance Package, Premium Plus Package, and Leather Seating Package. MSRP on their website listed at $48,760. Money down is 1st payment, Delaware taxes and tags. Am I wrong in thinking the payment doesn't add up? How much room for improvement?

You want to negotiate the selling price, just like you would if you buy.

Then, ensure you get the base MF; dealer can mark it up for extra profit.

Lastly, watch out for the fees.

If you manage all that, the payment you want will naturally follow.

The numbers add up (they aren't all in order, but they do add up).

    But, I get $409/mo., not $417. About a $300 difference, in total.

What are the MF and residual for a 2106 3.0t Premium rwd 24 months/12k miles?

Dealer is offering $8000 off a $45k demo with 3k miles plus covering the sales tax.(6.25% on entire sale price here in TX), but the residual is pushing the monthly too high for me and there's no room in the MF for MSDs.

    Thanks for the help

Can someone take a look at the terms I received from a dealer below? It's for a 2016 3.0t Premium (with Driver's Assistance and Premium Plus)I'm trying to figure out how to plug this into a calculator to understand what they may be doing to the MF and/or residual %. If I just do the math on the residual amount divided by the Cap Cost, it looks to be 65% (I thought it was supposed to be 49). Also not sure if/how to reverse engineer the money factor.

Couple of things to note: the TAVT is GA state tax. It is a one time charge that is getting wrapped into the payment. So, in effect the TAVT value through the ETR is an add on that's rolled into the payment.

    MSRP $47,145.00
    Savings $11,651.15
    Rebate $-
    Cap Cost $35,493.85
    Total Add-ons $-
    TAVT $2,580.26
    Doc Fee $599.00
    Title Fee: $18.00
    License/Title Fee: $22.00
    GA Warr RHTS Fee: $3.00
    ETR: $68.00
    Total Price: $38,784.11
    Net Trade: $-
    Customer Cash: $544.00
    Net Residual: $23,101.05
    Drive Off: $544.00
    Miles: $12,000.00
    Term: 39 months
    Monthly Payment: $422.59

.00005 and 49% for 39/12. Residual is calculated off the MSRP not the cap cost.

With your MSRP and total price, I get $405/mo using the base MF.

Ask the dealer what MF they are using to get their payment; if higher than the base rate, be polite and tell them you won't sign a deal with an inflated MF. They know what the base rate is.

Thanks for clarifying. If the math matched to the base MF and I got $405, would you say it's a good deal? I've heard mixed feedback on how likely they are to exclude all of those fees.

The only true "junk" fee is the dealer fee; simply negotiate a lower selling price to compensate for it.

Thanks Michael. So the deal I got quoted is $435/month for 39 mo/10K with $3K Drive Off for new RS400 2016 with Premium Plus and Driver Assist. Would be $515/month with $0 Drive off, presumably. How does it look? Also, for some reason the dealer rolled Destination Charge of $905 into the MSRP, is that legit?

We would need to know the MSRP and the selling price in order to comment.

The destination charge is part of the MSRP - nothing to "roll in".

With your prices, I get $434/mo before tax.

Awful lot of tax to get you to $515/mo.

Ask the dealer what the adjusted cap cost is - I suspect some fees are being added to the selling price.

    Adjusted Cap $43,909
    Residual Value: $29,338

I can't really see how. 400+ HP for $429/mo seems like a good deal from here.

    Congrats, and enjoy!

Anyone on here have any issues with leasing companies using VPP codes to lower prices and have an issue with Infiniti not honoring it ?

Is it your VPP code? If not, then not sure how a 3rd party would be eligible for it.

I wouldn't use a 3rd party to get between me and the dealer.
