2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
We assumed it was a problem with just that one van, but perhaps there's an early production problem that Honda needs to work out.
The clock is not part of the NAV display. It is now located on dash above and to the right the center vents.
According to the November issue of Consumer Reports, in their review of the Accura TSX:
"The touch-screen navigation system used in Acura and Honda vehicles is the easiest to use and most comprehensive."
That has made me consider including the system in my purchase.
XLE Package with AWD @ Invoice for 33,000
Includes leather trimmed seats, DVD rear entertainment system, 2 wireless headphones and DVD navigation system, rear seat audio, second and third row side sunshades, JBL Synthesis AM/FM stereo, CD player, cassette player, 10 speakers, 2 wireless headphones and DVD rear entertainment system, heated front seats, front side airbags and front, rear, and third row curtain airbags.
Tough choice but three important factors.
1. Honda salesmen suck. They are so arrogant, and the last one said 500 over MSRP, cause they didn't have any coming in. They he tried to trash the Sienna, and say the Odyssey was so superior. Well I reminded him, we took our time and test drove several vehicles and in our opinion the Toyota was more reliable, (Honda problems with wind Noise and transmissions),which he denied, then I nailed him on Major Transmission recall!. Sienna was more luxurious, and better stereo, and had AWD, and Odyssey did not.
2. Pricing-Got Sienna @ Invoice-much better deal than Odyssey @ MSRP.
3. Felt Sienna with AWD option and Toyota salesman was too much to turn down, but deciding factor was my wife preferred the driving and the looks better.
Gotta keep her happy.
We went back and forth, but discovered the new Odyssey and new Sienna, as well as the new Chrysler, and Quests all are good vans, with the Sienna and Odyssey the top two.
When we were leaving the Honda Dealership, the manager now wanted to make a deal, and offered us 500.00 below MSRP. I said hold on, called my Toyota Salesman cell phone, and he assured me he would let us have it @ Invoice with $ 99.00 Dollar Processing fee.
Told Honda Sales Manager, thanks but no thanks. He also wouldn’t budge from his $ 399.00 dealer processing fee.
Of course when I got home, several hours later, there was a voice mail from Honda saying $ 99 Dealer fee, and $ 750.00 off.
Morale to this story, is take your time. Be prepared to walk away, test drive several vehicles, and use one against the other. It took over a month to get the prices down on Sienna and several weeks for Honda. It can be done, remember, negotiate, negotiate, walk away, then negotiate. If more people would not rush out and buy the new Odyssey, and more people refuse to pay the sticker price, prices would come down.
Seems like the 'at or above MSRP' game isn't going as well as they had expected. That's good for all of us!!
Was this 2005 Model? also what package #??
I am torn between LE for its low price and one automatic door and EX-L (gotta have VCM if I go with Honda)
One thing about the Sienna is the silky smooth engine. It really is Lexus like.
No, the version in Odyssey does not support Real Time Traffic. The traffic information is still at its infancy in RL. The Real-Time Traffic is supported through XM radio. Therefore, the XM is a prerequisite. As it stands now, the traffic info is displayed but the traffic problems have not been factored into the route calculation automatically. Things could get even better. Also, only 20 major cities provide real time traffic information at the end of the year.
Q. -- DOES THE 2005 ODYSSEY HAVE AUXILIARY AUDIO IN-PORTS?
Whether in the face of the dash, under the dash, behind the dash or in the glove box, does the audio system have auxillary audio input ports? The Honda Element has always had them in the glove box. The '05 Odyssey has some sort of ports in the THIRD ROW. I want to hook up my iPod and take my entire music collection with me -- accessible from the driver's seat.
CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE READ THEIR OWNER'S MANUAL? Surely this is mentioned somewhere. I'd read mine, but it's stuck somewhere between AL and OK.
TIA
I was planing to look at Odyssey this week, but now I am not so sure. At 40k (Touring/NAV with taxes, license and stuff), this is really crappy.
I guess I would need to make sure that I drive it on freeway before deciding or anything.
Better Handling = Better Safety, that is, better ability to avoid wrecks.
One way to improve the handling of the Sienna would be better tires - something like the Goodrich G-force T/A KDWS (see somebody like discount tire direct for prices and sizes).
I prefer the Honda interior, except that the steering column does not telescope, a feature the Senna has. $500 over invoice is the right price. If the Honda dealers want to function as unpaid Toyota salesmen, that is their choice.
I would have said to him, "Are you dreaming?
It's almost 2005, not 1999 when there were no competition! I like the new Ody, but like a lot of people, I could live with a Sienna at $4K off MSRP too."
I predict the prices will drop to $2,000 below MSRP in 3 months.
I haven't seen the Ocean Mist myself although that is the one color I'm most interested in. My wife and I had pretty much decided on the Sienna before the new Ody hit the scene and we wanted a light blue (Blue Mirage Metallic in Toyospeak). I've driven the new Ody and was very impressed. I think they are both terrific vehicles and each has features which trump the other.
I think you may be out of luck regarding the availability of NAV without getting the RES. I'm fairly certain that Toyota does the same thing in the Sienna; you can get DVD or DVD w/ NAV, but not NAV by itself.
and you'll have only 9 brand new 05 odys left on your lot when the 2007's are arriving 2 years later.
Here in LA (where prices seems to be higher) dealers agree to sell Touring with NAV for MSRP, yet they do not have them in stock. For these that are in stock I am pretty sure I can go under MSRP already?
There were also many messages stating that number of people have bought this van for under MSRP with dealer names and such... (not in LA though :-( )
Take a look into Prices paid thread.
They're producing more for 2005
The Toyota Sienna is a tougher competitor than it was in 1999
The Chrysler vans have Stow N Go
All that should make for a retail selling price early on, but I think it'll cool down quicker than it did last time around. (I still bought my 2002 at near MSRP)
Thanks for your help in advance.

1) Does the Lady Susan rotate when you open the small door (versus the whole access panel)? Went to look at one of the first units to enter Canada (Montréal) and was very surprised of not being able to rotate it. If it, doesn't, then Susan is very lazy... It is much more cumbersome to pull on the whole panel...
2) Touring ride comfort: Is it "better" (whatever that means for you, it is so subjective) or worse than the '02?
3) Touring torque steer: is this real?
Have been following the thread for well over six months...
Thanks.

The time frame of this mesage puts it at message# 1094 which has disappeared. Does anyone know where message 1094 disappeared to? Thanks.
We need balance. Although Honda sales pitches aren't good, we sure don't need the Toyota/Lexus pitches either.
You get what you pay for.
Oh my, now I have heard everything and makes you wonder if people really know what they are buying.
Correction:The Toyota Sienna is basically a Camry in van form, far from a Lexus since the Sienna is based on the Camry underpinnings.
Kind of scary...so I guess the Toyota Corolla is basically a Lexus GX470 in car form?
civic - TSX , RSX
accord - TL
odyssey - Pilot - MDX
corolla - ?
camry - ES330 (SE drivetrain)
highlander - RX330
4 runner - GX 470
sienna - ?
landcrusier - LX470
For the uneducated these are called cross platforms
Oh! sharing drive trains is quite common
as well.
Don't go off without some background.
The VSA light won't go off (Vehicle Stability Assist)
ABS and Brake light warnings also come and go.
Strange wind noise around 20 MPH
A scraping sound as I start out, under 15 MPH (someone else posted about this)
If I roll down a back window without a front window, I get a strange thumping sound. VERY annoying, the salesman said, "Oh yeah, just like the Pilot." Oh Yeah??!!??
No coin holder, I saw it in the brochure....
Do the doors automatically lock when you put the car in gear or as you start out? My old Ford Windstar did.
Getting out of the car: When I pull on the drivers door handle, the door doesn't open, I have to unlock the car first. Is there a cure?
1. Has anyone gotten a subwoofer installed - does it make the stereo system sound any better or should I just replace the speakers?
2. I'd like to get the wood trim installed but have gotten conflicting info - is it press on laminate or is it a solid piece installed in place of the factory trim? Has anyone seen pictures of it installed on the web (or better yet to email me)? Does it look nice or "too much"? I'd like to dress it up a little (I'm used to driving a Lexus and since Lexus isn't planning on introducing a minivan anytime soon, I'm trying to make the transition as easy as possible
Another option is to install Honda RES system on cloth van.
Not sure about the rest but ABS might always come up (depending on the car) in the beginning (few seconds after turning ignition on). This is to indicate that ABS is being checked. If it's comes and goes try to video tape it and bring this to the dealer.
I believe that it's normal to get annoying thumping (very powerful at moderate to high speed) if you only open one window. I get it in my Accord for instance. This is why I was really surprised that Honda did not designed third row windows to be openable like in Sienna.
I am planing to buy Ody eventually, can you tell me where does "Strange wind noise around 20 MPH" comes from and is it loud and obvious or can you barely hear it? I'd like to know what to look for.
