Hi there, can I please have MF and residual numbers for MA for a grand touring AWD 36 months/15 K and 36 months/ 12K? Also, what would be a "good deal" lease price for the vehicle? I was asked $485 a month (incl tax) for 42 months/12k and $1600 down (covering first payment and fees) but it seems high to me as I would prefer paying around this for a 36 month/15k lease. Thank you!

We've heard that the week between the holidays is often the best time of year to make a deal. However, with a car as popular as the CX-9, I'm not as certain about that.

So I didn't get into the dealership before Saturday, but was told today that the money factor on a 36 mo/12k lease here in South FL was in the .0010 range, because "all dealers markup the money factor."

First off, do all dealers really do this? Or did I just find a dealer that was mad that I negotiated a low sales price and was trying to make it up any way they could (they also significantly inflated their net cap cost compared to the sales price I was given)

Second, do you mind giving me the new December numbers for a 36/12k Touring FWD in South Florida?

Some dealers mark up the money factor (or attempt to). The maximum markup is .00050, on top of the base rate.

.00053 MF and 58% residual.

MF does not change for options or packages on a particular trim level. They are simply bumping the MF for a bit of extra profit. Be polite and tell them you won't sign a deal with an inflated MF.

And, the residual is set by the bank; dealer cannot modify it.

Unless - they are working with a 3rd party bank and not Mazda Capital.

I think they switched it to a 36 month lease (.00053 MF), or they just read the money factor off the wrong line.

Curious if anyone knows what the story is with 2017 models.  Will dealerships be taking delivery soon?  Or will they sell as 2016.5 for a while due to fact that production started in late 2016?  Would hope 2017 models get a little bump in residual compared to 2016 model when basically everyone else selling 2017's already.

No information on when 2017 CX-9 will be available at dealerships.

Generally, residuals are best at the beginning of the model year.

39 months is a slightly better term, this month.
