Ok just closed deal on 2017 Honda Accord hybrid ex-l. 36 month 15k miles per year. I traded in my financed 2014 Nissan Sentra where I had negative equity of about $1700 they had to roll in.

So so with $1000 down which includes first month payment I'm at $375 per month. I believe that's fair....I hope so..yikes...lol. Thanks
Going from a Sentra to an Accord is a nice upgrade. Congrats on the new ride!
Thanks a lot. So do you thinks it's a descent deal?

Given that the $1700 negative equity is adding about $45-50 to the payment, yes.

i can still cancel deal. They've been telling me the car is coming for 45 minutes. I've been here 3 hours. Suck smoking mirrors and half truths.
Is this just an ok deal or good? Thank you very much

Yes it was off site. They said it's being gassed up now then washed. I'm ready to get my payment refunded and leave unless my deal is really good. Everything is done..insurance teamsters etc.

is this deal deal good enough to wait? I'm 10 min from leaving. Ugggghhjhh! Thanks

    Disregard the teamsters..spelling error.

I can't make that decision for you.

If you walk, you'll be starting from square 1 with a different dealer. No guarantees that you'll get the same deal. Could be better, could be worse.

Well they brought it just after my last post. Car is beautiful. I'm just hoping I got a good deal at $375 month with the $1700 negative equity rolled in with 15k miles.

i put $800 down which included 1st payment.

any input, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

As I said earlier, I think you did well. Your enjoyment of driving the car every day for the next three years will be with you longer than any feelings you have about the finances of the deal.

When I add in about $1070 for tax, I get about $394/mo, which isn't far off their payment. Not sure how you got $452/mo.

Have narrowed it down, to an accord sport se cvt as as a secondary car to get the family around. I reside in North Eastern NJ. Had a 1999 civic which I passed it down to my brother which has now 190K miles on it. I take a Japanese car over a German car any day. I have a G37 coupe with 80K with no issues. I intend to keep the car, for a 6 or 7 years. However, i was presented a lease offer, instead of buying as the 2018 is re designed with a turbo engine on it. This is the best two numbers I got using true car as a source to bargain and fall under exceptional deal.

    Lease.

    Car price 22,550
Out of pocket 1554 ( broken down below )
    Bank fee 595
    Dmv plates and registration 301
    Doc fee 399
    NJ tire tax 7.50
    First payment 252.68
    12K/36 months

    Residual 15498 + .06875 tax = 16, 563 Total Lease cost 10, 374
Buyout plus lease cost total 26,937

    Option 2 Purchase

    Car price 22, 840
    Nj tax 1570
    Documenation 290
    Registration 300

Total cost 25,000 with 0.9 apr

Your suggestions and thoughts are highly appreciated.

Not sure how you are calculating tax, but pretty sure it's wrong.
Tax should be around $720 total on the lease.

To properly calculate the lease, you need the MSRP and the selling price.

Thanks for the help. On the purchase price the tax in NJ is .06875 which the selling price is 22840.

On the lease the purchase price $22, 550 and the MSRP is $27, 190. At the end of the lease the residual is $15498 and that is not taxed, so again I have to pay the NJ tax of .06875 and its $1,065 which makes it $16563. Its a good way to pay a little less at first leasing, but If I Intend to keep the car, its going to cost about $2000 more.

On Purchasing/leasing there is a $1000 dealer cash and an extra $1,000 bonus lease cash. Therefore if I'm leasing they have total $2,000 total dealer cash? Or is it, $1000 dealer cash and $500 bonus lease cash and therefore if leasing it should be total $1500 dealer cash?

If your intention is to keep the car for a long time, leasing then buying is not a good strategy. First is the tax situation, which you've noticed. Second is that there are fees associated with a lease (acquisition fee) that you don't pay with an outright purchase.

    Thank You.

What are your opinions under these 2 deals? Great, Average, Exceptional?

Can you please clarify. Whether you lease or finance there is a $ 1000 dealer cash?
And if you lease an extra $ 1,000 bonus lease cash, which makes it $2K
    in total dealer cash?

Whoops, sorry. Didn't look close enough at the docs for March.

Yes, $1000 if you lease or finance, additional $1000 if you lease.

We don't track selling prices - I know you've been posting in the Prices Paid thread. You should get good feedback from the folks there on the strength of your pricing.

I leased an Accord 10 years ago, and I remember the Cap Cost is negotiable. I am seeing buyers getting $4K-$4.5K off Accords easily, so should it not be the same on the Cap cost on a lease?

The selling price portion of the cap cost is absolutely negotiable but there are various fees that are added to the cap cost that are fixed and not negotiable. Hope I understood your question correctly.

The cap cost is calculated as:

negotiated selling price + fees, taxes you are not paying up front - cap reduction (aka down payment)

So, part 1 is negotiable, part 2 isn't and we suggest you skip part 3 - any money down on a lease will be lost if the car is stolen or totaled.

    The money factor is 0.00083.

Tax amount on lease is $ 648

    Residual is 57%

    You were correct.

Now its just a matter of leasing vs buying. I might wait to get an extra $ 500 off on March 31, since that is their quarterly sales report date.

Out the door $24,500 instead of $ 25,000

Thanks for the answers, so just as the buyers are getting $4K off Accords, those of us leasing should ask the same too $4K off too.
