I talked to a lady I knew that works in the sales department and you were spot on, but she put the MF range anywhere from 0.001530 to 0.00059. Just confirming will the MF be in that range depending on credit score? Also this may not be the thread, but how should I go about validating the $2K of incentives to the sales staff? I can't locate anything on the Honda sites where they mention it.

    For credit scores of 660+, it's .00059. Below that, it's .00153.
    Nothing in between.

Those are dealer incentives. You don't have to validate anything. Use your knowledge of the incentives to bargain for a lower selling price.

Got it. Should I still try to get the selling price down even if the incentives are already factored into the dealer price? (IE MSRP per their website is $27,050 with a "dealer discount" of $4,077 to bring their selling price to $22,973). Could I theoretically bring up the $2K of dealer incentives to get them to lower their selling price to $20,973?

It's possible that the $4077 already includes the incentives. But, you are welcome to negotiate a lower price than that to find out where the true 'bottom' is.

I know it's acceptable to pay the acquisition fees, tag, registration, etc prior to leaving, but would I be at acceptable to all to pay the total taxes due at time of signing, or should I roll into the selling cost? Georgia I believe charges the full tax rate at time of signing (greater of selling price or FMV of the vehicle). I would think it would be acceptable since if I roll into the lease it will incur interest, but not sure how that works works with the gap insurance coverage. Heading to the dealership now so hope I do well well. Shooting for accord SE selling price of $21.5K or under.

We suggest limiting your out of pocket costs to just the first payment and DMV costs - add all the taxes and fees to the monthly payment.

Yes, you'll have a higher payment as a result, but you won't risk that money being lost if the car is stolen or totaled early on in the lease. You think the State of Georgia will refund you the sales tax you pre-paid?

Gotcha. I've attached my current standing for a 36 month 12K/mileage lease on a Sport SE. I was at the dealership earlier and tried to get the guy to go down to $21K on the $22,973 selling price, but he wouldn't budge any lower than $21.5K. Fees were confirmed by the sales team, but the money factor % is just an estimate based on our discussions here and the taxes are an estimate as well (although I don't expect them to differ that greatly). I backed out the $2K of dealer incentives since they insisted these were already included in the $4,077 "discounts" that they offered (difference between the MSRP at the top and the $22,973 currently listed on their website).

The final monthly payment just seems high to me. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I'm currently sitting in a starbucks and will most likely visit them again before EOD. Just trying to pull some more evidence right now from the "prices paid" forums relating to selling costs to try to get the $22.9K down.

Leased my Sport CVT in March - 225 a month incl 7.75% sales tax, $1k at signing, 36/15k miles. Was based on sale price of 20,455, (msrp 26,050), dealer doc fee of $80 - but the Honda market here is very competitive. The sales tax and doc fee is killing you. The only way you get the payment lower is get them to discount the sale price more. Each additional $1k of discount would lower your payment approx $28.

i PM'd you 2 sample lease deals earlier. Doc fee is pure dealer add-on profit and part of total sell price so really the sell price is 22973+699=23672 which is very high. Get that down and you have a fair deal but not at that price. Even an invoice price deal is at 22.8k and that isn't competitive in today's market. Any other dealers you can target today?

    Your calculations are correct.

You have to consider the $699 dealer fee as part of the sale price, so it's really $23,672.

If they come down to $21,500 + $699 fee as you mentioned, that would drop the monthly to $277/mo.

You'd pay the dealer fee if you were buying, as well.

For comparison's sake, @gmanusmc lives in CA, where the dealer or doc fee is capped at $80, by law.

$699 - yikes. It's pushing $500 or so at most dealers in CO, though there is one Honda dealer who doesn't add that fee on. To compensate, it's a one price store, so no dickering allowed.

Ended up pushing $288/month with no down payment (outside of 1st months lease and $90 app fee) with the help of TonyG2016, but dealer wouldn't budge from $288 with a $1K down payment. Had to walk away but this was a smaller NW GA town (not much Honda competition) so I'll try my luck in the ATL area.

it sux not to get a deal done after a lot of work BUT you don't want to overpay and then have regrets. after all, it's just a car - not a wife or something important. That dealership may have profit standards that are higher than metro dealers but they would not have lost money on your last offer (288 + dmv, 288*35). i don't think we were unreasonable...

are these numbers also good on leftover 2016's?
  • tonyg2016tonyg2016 Member Posts: 737
Leasing a leftover 2016 is not financially smart unless you are getting a huge discount to compensate for the reduced residual %

Looking to lease a Honda Accord sport in San Diego during mid June. 12k miles. Wanted to ask for residual, money factor, rebates, and a rough estimate of the fees required (I read the doc fee is capped at 80 in CA but wasn't sure if there were other fees). Also, is it possible to put 0 down and shift the initial fees to a larger monthly payment (as long as the total cost over the 3 year lease is the same)? Thank you very much, I really appreciate the help.

    .00059 MF and 56% residual for 36/12.
$1000 dealer cash + $1000 bonus lease cash

CA DMV fees will be around $250-$300.
    Acquisition fee is $595.

You can roll everything into the lease, but you'll be better off paying DMV fees upfront, as the monthly payment is taxed, and those are non-taxable fees. If you roll them in, they get taxed.

You may want to consider the Sport SE for only ~$3 more per month (if you like the leather seats)...

To provide you something to shoot for, leased mine in OC in March. 36/15k miles, $1k due at signing, 225 a month incl tax. If you do zero at signing, you should be able to easily get to $240 or less. Good luck on the deal! And like tony said, good deals on the SE too for not much more.

Zip 60614 (or greater Chicago area) Looking for insight on the best lease deal for a 2017 Honda Accord sedan. LX or EX, whichever is best deal for the money. First time leasee, great credit, flexible on downpayment (could be $0 to $ 2,000), and minimum miles needed per year 10,000. Thank you for any advice.

Honda does not offer 10K allowances on their leases; 12K is the lowest available

    36/12 on LX and EX - 56% and .00059

Hi and thank you for all the info that you provide. Much appreciated.
    I am looking at a 2017 Honda Accord Sedan 4dr EX-L Hybrid 12,000 miles for 36 months.
After incentives and loyalty deductions, the dealer quoted me $27,787.32. With $1k down, the payments would be $348.91. Residual Value is 51% and sell rate was 0.00039. 7% tax in florida. Does the residual value sound right? I thought it would be more.
    Please help
    Thanks you

51% is the correct 36/12 residual for the EX-L Hybrid

Thank you. The dealer mentioned that the incentives may change for the hybrid from month to month. Is that correct? The reason I am asking is because our lease is up in October.

So had everything ready to go with a local dealer. He pulled my credit score and it came back a 640 from Experian, which is approx 50 points lower than my most recent pull (mid May) from Chase bank (when I was approved for a new CC) and the score than my monthly Amex bill shows.
Sales guy said that Honda Financial wouldn't approve me for a lease due to the score, and due to having no auto loan history, and offered to assist me in financing a sport as opposed to leasing.

Any idea why the score was so low compared to what I'm seeing at two difference credit card providers? Also, is this guy just bluffing when he says Honda Financial won't lease to a customer at that score? If so does anyone know the minimum credit score that Honda Financial would approve? I'm having a hard time finding any firm data on the web.
