Is it realistic to think you can negotiate the price down 3k AND get the $2750 incentives on top of that? I've read through the prices paid forums and the lease deals ones, but trying to get an accurate idea before going into negotiations. Looking at an EX or EX-L if it matters. Thanks!
  • budsdadbudsdad Member Posts: 54
Thanks. The 36 month was $245 15K. The residual difference on 24 months between 12/15k was 1% making it attractive to my needs.

Yes, I think you can get $3K off sticker, before applying the lease incentives.

Depending on the market in your area and remaining inventory, you should be able to achieve between $5-6k off msrp fairly easily (incl incentives) on an EX or EX-L.

Thanks. Southern California is pretty competitive, I think. The inventory looks pretty good, too.

Yep - I got 5800 off msrp on my Sport in March with only 1500 lease cash. You should be able to get at least $6k - get these dealers competing - current programs end tomorrow - someone might offer a killer deal to hit a quota.

2017 Honda Accord EX w/ Sensing
    MSRP : 28,505
    Purchase price : 22,800
    MF : .00153 ( No Credit Score)
    Residual : 53%
    Leased @ 290 for 36/12
Money Down : $1500 ( I should have reduce this to 750, which would increased the monthly payment)

Not sure whether I got a good deal. But thanks for all the post, I was able to negotiate with dealer.
    And I love the car.

If the 290 includes sales tax, you still got a decent deal for quite a nice car with great safety equipment. You negotiated an excellent sale price which helped. Not being able to get the promotional money factor cost you about an extra $1k on this lease but if all goes well, you'll be in a better position for your next vehicle.

Great job - congrats and enjoy your new EX!!

Thank you. Yes , 290 inclusive of taxes. Before the credit score check they quoted me 250 !!. ( Sbay)
I drove the car from the showroom to home with Lane Keep Assist System / Adaptive Cruise Control. It was awesome. It is worth the extra $1000.

Your sale price is more than 23% off msrp - the dealer absolutely used the lease cash to get to that price. Based on the info you provided, if there is no trade in involved, you got one of the best deals I've seen on an SE.

Congrats and enjoy your new Accord!!

I know the $2750 lease cash just ended. Are there any new incentives? Need a car in a week and a half, unfortunately out of the country and couldn't get to the dealer for the previous incentive. Also, are the MF and RV the same? Looking at sedan EX or EXL in so cal. 36/15. Thanks!

If these are both 4-cylinders, I show $1500 dealer cash and $2100 bonus lease cash

MF is still .00059, 36/15 residual is 50% (EX) or 49% (EXL)

Got a quote from a dealer in Dallas, TX. Good deal?

    2017 Honda Accord SE
    MSRP: $27,190
    Selling price: $22,500 plus tt&l
    36/12k
    $0 down
    monthly payment: $295

If last month's incentives and money factor carried over, that does not appear to be a good deal. One poster reported 238 incl tax, 36/12, zero due at signing. Same model & trim level.
I believe his sale price was $20.8k. However, the sales tax policy in TX may be causing the higher quote.

i agree with the gman that you can do better. incentives changed, residual % down, lease cash up. Texas tax policy will increase your monthly over other state deals (like the 239 deal) but not by 57/month. Ask for a breakdown that itemizes the tax and we can help you more...btw, i think 275/mo is doable

$0 down or $0 due at signing? Those aren't the same thing.

As noted, Texas assesses sales tax against the entire selling price, increasing your lease payment.

If you can provide us with the adjusted cap cost, we can figure out the payment.

Thought you already made a deal - did it fall through? Dealer cash is a sales subsidy from the manufacturer to the dealer which can be used to offer customers a better price.
It is normally already applied to any quote you have requested and received.

Fantastic - let's hope you land another killer deal - let us know how you make out. Looks like everything kind of evened out - money factor the same, residual went down, incentives increased. Should be able to snag some good deals on remaining inventory in SoCal.

    EX-L 4-cyl - 51%

Yes, Nav/HS subtracts 2% from the above residuals.

    Hello,

I was quoted a price for a 2017 Honda Accord Sport SE.
At 24 months with 10k miles. NY 11801
Msrp $27,050. Selling price is $23,665
I have excellent credit (if that makes a difference)
$0 down payment with Tax rolled in at $305 a month.

    The upfront fees are
    1. Doc fee
    2. First months payment
    3. DMV fee
They told me no additional upfront fees, but that might change once the contract comes around.

Im looking to see how much lower I should be negotiating the vehicle. I was asking for $215. but they told me the bottom line was $305

    Thanks!

Most folks have been able to get the SE selling price down to around the $21-21.5k range. Are you working with more than one dealer? If not, you need to get multiple dealers competing for your business. Best deal we've seen so far on an SE was 238 incl tax, zero due at signing, 36/12k. So it seems that dealer is trying to make big bucks on you.

They told me no additional upfront fees, but that might change once the contract comes around.

Im looking to see how much lower I should be negotiating the vehicle. I was asking for $215. but they told me the bottom line was $305

    Thanks!

I'm confused - you got the same monthly payment quote for the Civic that you did for the Accord? You posted in both threads.

At 24 months with 10k miles. NY 11801

    The upfront fees are
    1. Doc fee
    2. First months payment

Yes the dealership gave me the same monthly price for the civic. The accord sport they said was their best selling car and held its value the best.

    Update on my previous post.

Went back I now have the 2017 Accord Sport Se for 24 months at $299
This includes all tax, insurance gap, all fees rolled in.
$0 down and $0 due at signing.

Should I pull the trigger on the deal, or should I still negotiate lower and look at additional dealers?

    Thanks

What is the adjusted cap cost, with the taxes and fees added in.

with current incentives, accord's lease better at 36 months - look at the residual difference.
fyi, gap insurance is standard on a honda lease
slow down and do more homework

so a V6 EX-L sedan is .00059, 50% and $3,100 lease incentives now on the new programs for the month? 36/12.

If I got this working right, MSRP of $31,800, applying incentives and discount to get a sales price of $25,000, putting $1000 down (total at inception) should be a payment of around $285 including tax?

the $1000 includes 1st, acquisition fee, and most of the DMV stuff (any extra would handle on the side),

2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.

$3600 lease incentives on the V6 sedan (nice!)

With those prices, I get $277/mo before adding in taxes or fees.

Suggest you roll both taxes and acquisition fees into the cap cost - first payment and DMV costs only due at signing.

Posted earlier in the Accord prices forum, was advised to post the lease deal here for comment:

    Hey everyone,

In the market to lease a 2017 Accord Coupe EX-L V6. This is in the SF Bay area. using zip 94591 for tax.

    Msrp: $32,170

Negotiated it down to $26,000 after several back and forth emails. Only 1 out of 3 dealers responded with numbers, the others refused to give numbers over email. That price includes the $3,250 available lease cash incentive.

    Here's the deal:

    leasehackr.com/calculator?make=Honda&msrp=32150&sales_price=26000&months=36&mf=.00059&dp=0&doc_fee=80&acq_fee=595&taxed_inc=0&untaxed_inc=0&rebate=0&resP=51&reg_fee=400&sales_tax=8.375&memo=&monthlyTax_radio=true&miles=12000

    2017 Accord Coupe EX-L V6
    36 mos/12K per year

    Agreed upon Sales Price: $26,000
$595 Acquisition fee rolled into the lease payment

    Monthly Payment (Excl. Tax): $309
    Monthly Payment (incl. tax): $335

    Drive-Off: $821
    1st month payment: $335
    Down payment: $0
    Registration and doc fee: $480
Tax on cap cost reduction and fees: $7
    Leasehackr Score: 8.7 years
    Disposition Fee: $0
    Total Lease Cost: $12,129

    Would value everyone's opinions...thanks!

Migs - based on those numbers, that looks like a solid deal. I wasn't sure of the residual, so I used 51% and the payment came out within a couple dollars of the 335.
Michaell and kyfdx will probably come along to confirm the residual but you're getting a decent deal if you pull the trigger. That's a lot of car for 335 a month incl tax!

Also, keep in mind if you hold out for a 2018, the 2017s will most likely be gone and you will not be able lease a 2018 in this same configuration for anywhere near this good of deal for quite some time.
Gman, thanks for your opinion, this is great news! With yours and others' views that this is a solid price, now I can throw it to the one salesperson who says they will beat all offers, assuming she has a similar vehicle.

I used 51% residual and .00059 MF with the leasehackr calculator.

Kydfx - your number is a little lower - looks like the leasehackr calc is a little off?

All in all, thanks for all your help.
If you have someone willing to beat the $26k sales price which includes the $595 acquisition fee, that's actually more than $4k below invoice because dealers don't normally include that in the sales price - you need to jump on that.

The 50% residual is probably spot on because Michaell and kyfdx have all the good scoop on residuals and money factors.

Let us know how this goes - I'm jealous - that's a great car that you're about to get a great deal on - don't let them pull any shenanigans.

When you are shown the lease agreement, it should show an agreed value of about $26k, plus total fees of about 1200, minus your due at signing about 822 for an adjusted cap cost of around 26,378. These figures are approximate and might vary a little - if they vary a lot, you need to ask why. Using these figures, a money factor of .00059, a residual of 50%, sales tax rate of 8.375%, your payment should be very close to the 335 incl tax for 36/12k lease.

I reran the online calculator, changing residual to 50% - Kyfdx is spot on - $317/mo before tax, $344/mo with tax. Only $9 more. Still within the budget!

    leasehackr.com/calculator?make=Honda&msrp=32150&sales_price=26000&months=36&mf=.00059&dp=0&doc_fee=80&acq_fee=595&taxed_inc=0&untaxed_inc=0&rebate=0&resP=50&reg_fee=400&sales_tax=8.375&memo=&monthlyTax_radio=true&miles=12000

Thanks, will report back. I feel really great about this deal. If the finance guy tries a fast one (I've had it done to me at an Acura dealership), I'll just get up and walk. If they can't stick to the numbers, sayonara! Cheers everyone!

You've done your homework so you'll do fine - they will realize you've got your act together. I misunderstood your previous post and thought the acquisition fee was included in the sales figure quote - I reran the numbers with acquisition fee rolled into the payment and the 821 due at signing and came up with 343 incl tax - right about where you are with your latest calculation. Great job on the legwork.

Reporting back on this Coupe EX-L V6 deal. Decided not to take it. Wife has persuaded me to go with the sedan instead. There are only a few coupes left here in Nor Cal so if anyone is looking to get one, please work off of the deal I put together. I bet you could probably get another $1K off by month's end.

Anyhow, looking now at the Accord EX-L V6 sedan. So, based on latest posts - Michaell is saying at least $3K off MSRP before the incentives. Has anyone been able to get an EX-L V6 sedan at the mid $24K level, say $24,700? Is that a viable target, given the MSRP of $31730, incentives of $3100 + additional bargaining to take off an extra $3930. At that price, with 50% residual, .00059 MF, 36/12, I'm getting $287 before tax, drive off of $800 which includes 1st mo payment and DMV fees.
