  • Hi Michaell & kyfdx,

I have a quick question...The MF and residual % provided above is based on leasing through Chrysler Capital? I understand Chrysler created a joint venture with Santander Capital to provide financing and leasing support to the network of dealers as well. Are the MF and residual % also the same for Santander Capital?

    Thanks,

    MAC

The numbers we have are from Chrysler Capital.

No information on whether these numbers are the same for Santander.

Actually, PA imposes a 3% surcharge on the sales tax for leases - 9% total.

That takes my payment to $433/mo, pretty close to your $438/mo quote.

We don't track selling prices, nor do we know how big the incentives are for the ALLY lease.

How does that compare to the Crystler incentives/money factor?

The MF from Chrysler is way lower, but so is the residual. And, we don't have any incentive information available.

The 3rd party leases often price out better because of the incentives, but remember, a 3rd party bank is not as interested in maintaining your business after this lease is up. Which means they may be more strict about damage at the lease end inspection.

  • 2 part question on Lease Deal..

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4X4
    36 Month Lease/12K Miles
    Charlotte, NC

    MSRP: $45,985
Rebates: $4,572 ($750 Jeep lease rebate + EP pricing)
    Cap Cost: $41,413
    Residual 57%
    MF: .00006
    Due at signing: $0
Total due per month: $462.00(tax included in final number)

    Part 2:

What would the MF and Residual % be for the same vehicle with 15k miles per year? I am leaning towards the 15k miles but not sure how much that will or should drive up pricing....

    Thanks Guys!

I confirm the MF and residual for a 4x2 Overland.

Using your selling price as the cap cost, I get $496/mo before tax. 7% in Florida? If so, $530/mo

I don't see the acquisition fee listed by the dealer - that is, well, actually, the acquisition fee is waived this month for that trim level.

Therefore, the up front costs are about $920.

Confirm the adjusted cap cost with the dealer. They could also be marking up the MF for more profit.

No security deposits available from Chrysler.

    Audi does offer then, however.

MF is .00281 with that APR.

What is the adjusted cap cost, after fees and incentives are applied?

The $1707 is likely the tax on the incentives. What is the tax rate where you live?

I'd also ask about the dealer fees; CA caps them at $80. Does that include DMV costs?

Not enough information to make any informed decisions about your deal.

    Michaell-

Going back to my scenario which I posted above, the actual "rental" cost on this 4x4 Limited is only like $8000.
Why not just pay $8720 = $242 per month instead of messing around with the 7% cost of capital on the lease??? Looks like it adds a ton of cost ($242 vs. $438)???

BTW i have improved on this number below a little bit. Trying to make a deal this weekend. Thanks in advance.

    MSRP: $43975
    Cap Cost: $33954
    Residual: $25945
Money Factor: .00291 (or 7%) from ALLY

Payment: $438 (includes tax = 9% in Pennsylvania)

    36 month / 15k a year

I was just confirming my numbers in regards to the entire "rental" cost of $8720 (Cap Cost - Residual + Tax) vs. $15552 ($432*36). Does this make sense?

Right, but you still have to pay the rent charge (interest) on the money you are borrowing. And, given the high MF, that is a large amount. No way around it.

If through Chrysler Capital, we show .00009 MF and 57% residual

If this is through an independent bank, we don't have the numbers.
Are there actually $4300 in rebates or does that include a dealer discount?
If it's all rebates, why no discount from MSRP?

Do you really need to hire a broker for $300?

Thank you so much for reply!

Let me find out more info, these numbers were explained over the phone by the broker,
Not sure which bank the broker is going through but it does seem off with your numbers for MF and RV

I just found out about this section of Edmunds website recently and still figuring out MF and RV details.

I believe the only rebate is $1250 at the moment from Jeep until end of the month for lease deals.
    (its $2k for purchase deals)
The rest Im guessing is dealer discount which on their website is showing as various line items like
    $500 COLLEGE
    $500 MILITARY CASH
    $1000 LEASE Conquest
    $1000 CHRYSLER cash capital
    $1000 RETURNING LESEE CASH

Maybe dealer is extending this to me as a dealer discount though i don't tecnically qualify for any of these offers.

    Do I need a broker?
I'm not sure, never leased a new car before, so I thought some experienced help might avoid shady car salesman tactics - broker said he could get best price and lease deal and speak directly with fleet manager but that's after I agree to deal, so nothing has been paid yet.

I tried asking for a fleet manager at the Jeep Dealer on my first day of shopping when i went into dealer and salesman said Jeep don't have fleet managers?

Confused but will try again to get more defined numbers and get back to you

    Thanks again.

They've come back and quoted $604/mo pre-tax. Matching RF and res. I don't understand why their price could be so high. Where are they hiding those extra costs? I am trading in a car, and only putting down your reccomended first payment and DMV costs from that, while getting the remaining balance cash back. Of course, they're taking the small amount that I owe on the car. I don't believe there is anything there...

    I appreciate all the advice!

Confirm the adjusted cap cost the dealer is using - if higher than the $48,250 you shared with me, have them explain how they got to their number.

If the MF and residual match what I've stated, then the only variable left is the price.
