Probably replaced by condos for tech/financebros, residency-purchasing money launderers and capital parkers, and airbnb speculators.

Alaska Way is an abomination of the city skyline and a beautiful waterfront. But my money bets instead of beautification, once the viaduct is torn down the property will be converted into a mass of more buildings. It may be very liberal downtown, but more buildings means more property tax revenue to blow Ka-ching!

Now you're getting warm. I should've told Kyfdx that, yes, the engine is in the middle (so is the steering wheel).

Michael it's the McLaren F1 named for McLaren's successes in Formula One racing. It was their first streetable car and an incredible tour de force capable of outperforming other all other cars of the era, albeit at great expense. It was the fastest production sports car for many years and is not far behind current cars in its class. Power came from a 6.1 liter BMW V12.
The F1 was made from 1993-98 and pioneered a generation of Supercars such as the Bugatti Veyron, The Ferrari Enzo and La Ferrari and the Porsche 918.

A racing version, the F1 GTR won the LeMans 24 hrs in 1995, beating prototypes built from the ground up specifically for endurance racing.

I'm familiar with it … 248MPH top speed, IIRC.

No, but that's not a bad guess given the lines of the car. Some Simcas did get a little "finny".

    German. Finny.

edit: I don't know what the other car is but it's the same color as a VW Squareback that my neighbor used to drive in the early 70's.

Speaking of mystery cars, German engineering and VW in particular (no relationship to the mystery car) I found this pic of a glass elevator used for visitors to the VW parking lot towers in Wolfsburg. What is the little blue car with tiny tires seen at the upper left of the glass elevator?

OK, I'll take a shot. It looks like one of the small BMW coupes I saw in pictures a while ago. Do I get even partial credit?

Yes, you do. It's a 700 series BMW coupe, circa 1959.

Oh wow. I sometimes surprise even me. Did it share DNA with the Isetta?

Basic powertrain was similar to the Isetta 600 but the 700 was a "real" car and drove much better. They actually made a boatload of these cars, but not many survive due to rust. I'm pretty sure there were many differences from the Isetta in terms of suspension, steering and brakes. The gearbox was still clunky, though.

Cars in that climate aged fast.

I think there might be a 61 Pontiac at the front of the line, 4 cars ahead of the Comet.

Odd that the stop sign was bilingual but the other sign just says "No Parking". That would not be the case in Montreal today.

And, all the cars would be manual transmission hatchbacks with no AC.
