Nope, you're off by a few years. It's a 1962 Chevy Fleetside.. This is the era when PUs start getting actual styling with chrome trim and accents as well as carlike paint schemes. The wraparound glass is a holdover from the 50s.
I remembering to a Motor Show in London when they announced the Isuzu Piazza - it must have been in the late 80s and they were making it out to be an exclusive car and making people have to queue to get on to the stand as if it was a Ferrari or something.
The other side of the same aisle they had the then new launch of Seat - they hadn't sold in UK before other than as a few Fiat models - and they had loads of people everywhere going on to the stand which was of course not a 'premium' brand - but it felt like the Isuzu people didn't want to be mixing with the public...
They hardly sold any Piazzas and dropped out of the UK in about two years, not coming back until they were just selling the 4x4 range some years later.
Seat are of course now properly integrated in the VW empire and sell in shedloads.
They did have the "engineered by Lotus" thing but it didn't help them.
Come to think of it Seat launched theIbiza with "engineered by Porsche" as the latter had worked on the cylinder head - my ex wife had a Seat ibiza and that had a Porsche logo on the engine although the flimsy bits were pure Fiat otherwise I think.
I remember the Impulse got rave reviews for its styling but brickbats for the mechanical bits. The car wrote cheques it couldn't cash.
Didn't the FWD Lotus Elan use an Isuzu turbo powerplant? I thought that might have been another part of the collaboration? Or, maybe that was a Toyota engine?
Maybe around a 53 lavendar-ish colored Mercury under the entrance roof
It's a 1952 Mercury, you can see the steam iron-shaped taillights that characterized the '52s
The black Caddy is Prewar (1941 Series 61 or 62), the other is a '51 Sixty Special according to the guys at The Old Motor. . They say the Sahara was opened in 1952 and this pic may she something to do with that. The two cabs on the right are '49-'52 MoPars, (Plymouth or DeSoto?). On the left you can see a '46-'48 MoPar slope back.
Audi 100LS coupe, on an apparently original blue CA plate.
Yup, that's the car that spearheaded the revival of the Audi brand after VW Group bought Auto Union/NSU in the mid-1960s. The 100 wasn't a very good car and gave owners no end of problems. it's a wonder that the brand survived in the US because it wasn't until the 1990s that they began to import some good cars after a run of disasters including the "unintended acceleration" scare in the '70s..
That's a 1962 Chrysler Imperial Crown. Note the order of those words. In earlier yrs. they had "Crown Imperials" but then went to "Imperial Crowns". '56 and '6 were the only years for the taillight to be atop the fin IIRC

Correct!! Southhampton trim.
Found it on BAT after someone sent me down the rabbit hole with another link.
I have a quirk. I really cannot see getting a boat like that Imperial in two-door trim (unless it's a convertible, of course). If you're going to buy that much metal, get four doors and take advantage of the room and comfort.

well, good news for you. If you decide to get an american classic, you are going to save a fortune going with a 4 door!
And I’ll take advantage of it. The classic car I am most likely to buy is a W116 Mercedes 4 door to replace the best car I ever had, which I lost in a fire. And my “guilty pleasure maybe buy” would be a second generation Corvair, and yes it would be a 4 door; they are beautiful.

Two-door cars are almost a thing of the past so your opinion is now almost universally shared but back in the day almost everything could be had with just two doors. I think it was the square-bird ('58 Thunderbird) that really lit a fire under them.

I had a 2nd gen Corvair sighting last night - at the musical “A Bronx Tale”. One prop was a shortened and narrowed Corvair. Interesting choice.
