That’s right. A 1957 Hudson Hornet - last of the line.

    @imidazol97 - re orphan makes

Given the number of makes shed by the slow collapse of the old British Leyland and Rootes Group companies in Britain most of our car shows have a fair range of cars which would qualify ...
Only MG (now Chinese) and Jaguar LandRover survive from the BL mess and Rootes all went before that.
We get things like Alvis, Bristol, Jowett and Armstrong Siddeley who all made cars well after WW2 too

I generally am not a fan of Falcons, but I like the convertible. I believe in 63 a V8 was finally made available, the 260.

Yep I think it debuted with a 260, later got the 289.

Years ago my FIL had a Falcon convertible in the garage under a cover. I didn't get a good look at it before he sold it. I don't know if I could have taken it at the time (he was in TX, us in Anchorage), but I might have bought it and paid him to keep storing it. Oh, well...

Not quite, it's the Futura version of the '63 Falcon convertible, Sprints would have the same side spear and a badge indicating the 260V8.>

Mechanically these were the same as the Mustangs introduced in April 1964 (sold as 1965 models).

Is that car some sort of Glassic or Glasspar ? - I initially thought of the Woodill Wildfire but it isn't one of those

I like the Mister Softee Ford cab-forward panel van in behind.

Actually, the car is a 1952 Masano Sports Car built in Reading, PA and based on a Henry J.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,469
Doesn't the white car have the spear and Sprint/V8 emblem?

I think technically the name was "Futura Sprint" (kind of like Bel Air Impala, I guess).

My bad Fin, you are correct the white car has both the spear that denotes the Futura and the very small emblems forward of it that mean it's a Sprint, so yes it's a '63 Ford Falcon Futura Sprint/260V8.

Actually the full name is 1956 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan DeVille

1956 was actually the first Caddy carry the name. IIRC the name Deville was eventually appended only to the Coupe Deville which by that time was only four door sedans.

Thanks for the clarification. I, too, thought they looked to have the same side badging.

A picture of Cincinnati circa 1969 that should have some good things to spot. It should expand nicely:

That's where my son went to school. (and 15 minutes from where I live)

    I see a '69 Firebird convertible

I immediately spot a 1963 Ford Galaxie convertible and a 1968 Chevrolet Impala. Also see a 1967 Pontiac Catalina, VE Karmann Ghia, two Beetles and a 1962 Chevrolet Impala by the fence and a 1967 Pontiac Firebird,

Renault R10 departing right and a red Jag E type over the roof of the light blue 2 door sedan which I think is a Chevy II circa 1962 - base model so maybe a 100?
Black Valiant sedan parked right above the near roadster - you can see the badge through latter's window

Also many VWs including a nice type 2 split screen with white and light green paint job at far corner of mesh fence post - like the one from Matchbox....

A two-door sedan, no less, what they used to call (at least up here) a "coach". That has to be a pretty low-production Pontiac.

Just above the blue Renault is a 55-56 Thunderbird, soft top, mismatched panels.

Light blue two door post looks like a lowline Rambler American.

Nice 67 Firebird convertible! Also Karmann Ghia by the fence. Also a 68-69 Buick Skylark in front of the red Chevy.

A friend in HS had a '63 Galaxie 500 convertible like the one next to the '68 Chevy Impala sedan. His Galaxie had some nice options 390, bucket seats and A/C.

Yes, I agree, Fin. The blue car is an American, mid '60s.

I get a kick out of the fake hood scoops that get put on sloooow cars. I had 2 (!) on my Duster with a 198 cid slant six. The Nash Metropolitan's another one.

1987 - my cousin got married, and I was the best man. The wedding was in Jackson, MI, so a large contingent of family flew to Detroit and we rented a couple of cars.

I got a Celebrity, and my cousin got a jellybean Taurus.

Depends on the powertrain IMO. The early Taurus’ with the 4cyl were pretty slow.

I know we don't normally deal with pick-ups much but this imported one is British registered and the model was being prepared for sale here in the late 1980s
