I have not been to a DQ in probably 40 years. Now I want one.

    Pretty creepy DQ dude.

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,522
I have no memory of a DQ mascot like that, nightmare fuel for little kids. I generally do not indulge in fast food as I prefer other culinary sins, but the one I tolerate most is DQ, I'll have a Blizzard a few times a year :)

Truck with the bullbar is the newest vehicle in the pic, and the basis for my age estimate.

Yup that's a 1967 Amphicar. I used to see one back in the day but never saw it afloat.

Apparently it was a lousy car and a worse boat.

I’ve actually seen one in the Ohio River. Probably 40 years ago. Brave or dumb, you pick.

Wheeler Dealers did one, and took it into a canal someplace. I think it made it out.

The amount of rust they had to repair was pretty amazing, IIRC.

If you recall, it died on them in the middle of the water and they had to get pulled out.

1971 Chrysler Three Hundred (spelled out as per the fender badging) fuselage 2-door front and center behind the Pontiac and the blonde lady suntanning quite strangely right on the dirt by the curb without a towel or blanket. Bunch of reprobates here, people smoking (including the passenger in the Chrysler), beer bottles on the asphalt by the curb, shameful!!! :p

Hmmm. Felix the Cat must be in public domain.

Hmmm. Felix the Cat must be in public domain.

According to the dealership website: "The Felix character was borrowed from the popular 1920s cartoon "Felix the Cat" by pioneering L.A. automobile dealer Winslow Felix, who opened Felix Chevrolet in 1921 at 12th Street and Grand Avenue. Felix was a friend of filmmaker Pat Sullivan, whose animation studio created the mischievous character." So it was apparently used with permission.

are those 65 Fords? I really like the bright red 2 door. Not sure what year that old white car is, late 40s? Hard to believe it is less than 20 years older than the new one next to it. a 2004 parked next to a 2024 you might not even notice the difference.

Nobody has noted that the white Ford near the doors is the elusive 1960. The burgundy 65 next to the old Chevy is an LTD; new that year (midyear introduction) and oh so fancy compared to the other Fords.

I dunno what street that is in Houston, but I'd love to see what it looks like now, as I imagine it would be unrecognizable.

Two street signs say Fuqua, so that's Fuqua St. in southern Houston. I can't tell what the other road is, I'm sure most/all of those buildings have been replaced, but Fuqua goes on for miles. Lots of residential development near it now. Back then it was in the boonies.

Reverse image search points to a (paywalled) article about Houston's East End, that narrows it down. Could be where the current I-45 crosses Fuqua.
