It sure looks like one. Why the question mark? Is it a Soviet rip-off or something?
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
ZIS 110 - I think the chrome around the front wings is different from the contemporary Packard. They were still making this model until 1957/8, and the very last was actually a ZIL as the factory was renamed before it was completed.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
Yep, it's a '49 ZiS 110, supposedly belonged to Joe Stalin,
I imagine you're right about the horizontal chrome striping
otherwise it looks just like a Packard.

They probably changed the name to ZIL because of Destalinization. ZiS are the Russian initials for
    Stalin Auto Factory. ;)

    ...AKA Daytona....

....with period Pirelli CN36 radials ;)
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
Yep, Ferrari 365 GTB/4 "Daytona". I think the tires are Michelin XWXs. The knock-off wheels were changed for US versions as they were illegal here after 1968 IIRC.

Yes, my first thought was the Pirellis, but I guess not. The CN36 is on the right:

That my friend is a Gremlin. Harder to tell in B&W, but looks like a Levis edition, probably a '74?

Love the shirts. I really miss the 70s!

Not me! but you're right about the Levis Edition Gremlin. I thought the B&W would throw some people. :P

It's British but not a Healey or MG, or for that matter a Jag, Triumph or Aston-Martin (hope that helps). :P

The front fenders look Jaguar-ish but I know it's not a Jag.

    Looks like an Alvis TB14.
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
Those are indeed XWXs! You can still buy them actually.

    Looks like an Alvis TB14.

Close but no cigar! It's an Alvis all right but a TB21('50-'53), which was the follow up to the TB14. Only about 36 were sold, compared to 100 TB21s.

This is the new Citroen C Crossover, a clone of the Mitsubishi Outlander. There is also a Peugeot version, called the 4007.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
Right on all counts except the correct name is C-Crosser not "C-Crossover".

Is your red micro-roadster a Skorpion ? early 50's, Crosley chassis, etc...

Oh, and for those of you over there, happy 4th July...
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
Yes it is a '52 Crosley Scorpion. We spell Scorpion with a "c" over here. ;)

Sunbeam Alpine (assuming it's not a V8 Tiger)
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
I wondered about the spelling for the Scorpion/Skorpion - the only reference I could find to it - in an American book - spells it with a k, so I assumed it was spelt that way due to some trademark/copywrite issue...
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,673
Yep, Sunbeam Alpine ca. '60-'61. Early Alpines had those big "Forward Look" fins, later series and Tigers had more subdued fins.

You can't tell a Tiger from an Alpine just looking at it, and fakes are hard to spot (there are tricks however).

Definately Nissan-ish. Is it the new X-cross? If it is, the side view looks better than the front view which is usually shot.
  • jbolltjbollt Member Posts: 736
I seem to remember a new "smaller-than-a-Maruno" Nissan upcoming ...is this that? I would guess Europe only as the bumpers don't seem to be USA spec. Seems to me it was called some weird name like QUAHSKAI, or something equally unpronouncable like that.
  • jbolltjbollt Member Posts: 736
Research shows me (assuming I have the right car to begin with) it's actually spelled Qashqai, but the N. America version seems to be called the 2008 Nissan Rouge.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
jbollt is right. The car is a Nissan Rogue. We just did training on it, driving it and comparing it to other smallish SUVs.

What was cool is there are only about 4 specimen in all of north america, and we got do drive the first one off the assembly line VIN # XXXXXXXX000001.

Yep, the baby Murano is to be known in the USA as the Nissan Rogue, notwithstanding the brash name it'll compete with the CR-V, RAV4 and Santa Fe.

Nope,it is a Porsche but not an S/C, or even a 911 and you've got the wrong decade. ;)

Is that a 912? If so, I've never seen a "rubber bumpered" 912.
