    Citroen Avant from the 1950s.

For me the chevron on the grill gave it away that it was a Citroen.

The car sure looks more like a 1930s car than 1950s.

It is a 1930s car, albeit a fairly advanced one (the first mass production FWDer) but it stayed in production thru the 50s. The correct name is Citroen Traction Avant and a 1954 model was shown, apparently these came in any color you wanted, as long as it was black. :P

Looks like a c.55 Pontiac, but there must be a catch

The Citroen was technically known as an 11 or 15...very old fashioned looking when it ceased production in something like 1957, but very modern for it's introduction in 1934/

But... it looks like a miniature BMW 2002 with an old Corvair front end!

NSU 1200. They were clearly influenced by first-generation Corvair styling.

Yep it's a 1970 NSU 1200TT and, like the 2002, it borrowed heavily from the Corvair.

    Now for something completely different=>

Yes, and like the earlier '51 Ghia-designed K-310 Chrysler, you can see the Ghia influence in the new 300-C; especially with the "brow" above the headlights, and certainly the grille too.

the funky coupe is a 1955 Arnolt-Bristol which might have been more recognizeable in it's
more common, but still rare, roadster form.

The 6 cylinder 2.0 liter Bristol motor was derived from prewar BMW sixes.

'59 Chevy Apache with a NAPCO 4x4 setup.

edit: found the sale page for this one. $13k isn't bad for a 327, 4-speed, 4x4, power steering, and front discs. Anyone in Colorado need a hill climber?

Thar's what it is, '59 being the first year for Chevy to offer 4X4 pickups.

The turbine wheels indicate, IIIRC, that it's a 99 EMS (late '70s.) '79 model, maybe?

You're right on the year, Lancer but weren't the Turbine/Star Wars wheels specific to the first Gen 99 Turbo models?

Ah, yes! The '47 Cisitalia. This car was indeed influential, as a good deal of the '50s GT coupes from Europe were hugely inspired by it. The styling of this car was way ahead of it's time.

The Cisitalia 202 Gran Sport's influence on GTs to this day can be seen in this side view.

yuck...the TD....you're breakin' my heart. Now why didn't you pick the far prettier TC? Or did you know that most MG lovers hate the TD?

I can't stand the TDs...the wheels are too small and really spoil the entire car. They make a charming car ugly to look at.

I happily concede that the TC is the prettier car, I just happened to come across a good picture of a TD. As for which car MG lovers prefer, I'm under the impression that the TD outsold the TC. ;)

Here's another sportscar to sleep on...

That's also why a TD is worth less than a TC today by a considerable sum. Less rare and less attractive.

Shifty, how is the '55 MG TF held in regard by MG fans? My next door neighbor has one, and I've always found it to be attractive.

I like the 968, especially the convertible.. But, a NA 3.0 litre 4-cylinder was just a bad idea...

They should have made it a turbo...

MG people are really funny sometimes. They can parse and discriminate (without snobbery however) the MG models quite surgically.

The real MG collectors and drivers (and MG people DO drive their cars, they are not trailer queen people) love the TC, as it is the "classic" design that harkens back to the prewar cars. They HATE the TD, even though the average passerby might say "gee, what's the problem?". The TD is very stodgey, the wheels especially just kill the car visually.

The TF however, is also popular with MG people, even the TC and prewar nuts. For some reason, the TF gets excused, probably because the body, having been changed, works better with the small wheels.

The MG folks love the MGA and MGB, but there is a definite dividing line in 1975, when the "rubber bumper" MGs came out.

MG Magnettes (sedans) and YB roadsters (4-seat roadsters from the late 40s early 50s) are not very popular.

The most despised MGs are the TDs with Volvo engines in them, an oddly common thing one still sees being done now and then.

Speaking of which... My friend with the '61 MGA Mark II brought it by last night... just had the body work re-done.. repainted... a ton of parts re-chromed.. He takes it apart and puts it all back together himself..

He has owned the car for 30 years.. this is his second total restoration..

A very cool car.... and, I agree.. He drives it.. He has been to MG get-togethers all over the country... No trailering...

I'd put up a photo of my friend's "mystery" MG but it's prewar and that's not in the rules, so......
