We have that very car rotting away in our neighborhood, next to a corroding '66 Cadillac 4 door, which keeps company to a rusting '68 Olds convertible, nestled beside a banged up Mercedes 560SEL with 4 flat tires. "Fer sale...oh no, I'm gonna restore those cars some day"
New Chrysler 300C, I presume. Never liked them and could not legally afford the gold chains, rings and bangles that I would need to acquire before owning one.
Oddly, there is more than a passing similarity to the Bentley Continental, although the latter has a much better balanced glasshouse
I have to admit, the refresh of the 300 is appealing to me, especially in the color shown in the picture above and in the commercials - call it either "Hot Chocolate" or "Root Beer".
That, plus 31 MPG hwy from 292HP is nothing to sneeze about, either!
This is what happenes after the building gets washed away due to flooding north of Lebanon, Pa / Hershey, Pa. This became a "Yard Find" instead of a "Barn Find." Course they haven't found the barn yet. They had to move all the vehicles off the road and out of the Swatara Creek.
Unfortunately that's about a $50,000 restoration away from being worth $40,000.
Yup - that's a Jay Leno caliber restoration project. He has referred to himself as the president of the more money than brains club. He doesn't restore to make money - he does it to enjoy and save the car.
Speaking of Leno, I read a book about the (botched) transition from late night to prime time back to late night.
Turns out that he banks the NBC check (somewhere around $15-20M per year) and lives off the money he earns doing stand up shows around the country - not an inconsiderable sum, I should think.
It's no wonder he's got a warehouse in LA filled with classic cars!

What was the name of the book?

Yep - he said that a few years ago. It stems from his being a starving comedian in his early years and the fear of being fired. According to a booking website, he commands $100K + per appearance for corporate events. He does shows in Vegas regularly as well. 20 shows a year and he could live a very good life - how much could denim shirts cost??
Orange Bug, yellow Karman Ghia, '65 cream colored Chevy Impala? My mom had an Impala like that and it wouldn't die, although she did have to tie the passenger door shut with a coat hanger and the rear window leaked.
~'66 Dodge van, blue AMC Pacer. Shoot, that one looks familiar.
Leno sound like a heck of a guy to hang around with. I'd think it would be cool to spend a day with the man and his collection. Unlike having a bunch of garage queens, he likes to drive his cars.
I'll take a few - icluding the blue AMC Gremlin! Blue '72 Plymouth Fury close, reddish '71 Pontiac (obvious due to the fake trunk vents), '69 Buick. Right lane: '71 Olds Cutlass, '68 Buick, '70 Buick. Front of the '65 Impala is a '71 Camaro and a white '65 Malibu.
The yellow cab just to the left of the cones leading to the right side tunnelis probably a Dodge ca. 1970, probably headed for LaGuardia or Idlewild JFK.
That could be a 72. The difference was the 71 had it's tail lights bisected into two horizontal bars. The 72 had 6 lenses on each side. I had a 72 "S" hardtop in that same color: Gulf Green Metallic with the black vinyl roof.
I forgot that the 'Nomad' name was used on full-size Chevy wagons through '61 and then later on Chevelle wagons. In spite of the 'marketing' gimmickry, the NOMAD name to me always means the classic '55 through '57 2-dr wagons. (although the grey '60 is indeed kind of pretty)
My friend Jim who owns a Subaru repair shop calls those Subaru instrument holders "the landing pods".
I actually had an XT -- noisy little thing but it ran well for the few months I owned it---I was rebuilding the turbo and clutch on my Saab Turbo---one of the endless repairs I had to do. Bought the XT for $1000 bucks, sold it 3-4 months later for $1500, which paid for some of the (endless) Saab repairs.
My brother wanted an XT - looked for awhile and gave up, impossible to find a roadworthy example in the area. Apparently they are temperamental and have suspension issues. In another 20 years, if a person has a nice one, it will be an extreme rarity - up there with such classics as a Fuego Turbo or a diesel Lincoln :shades:

Wow, a Vega sedan (later called 'notchback coupe') in the background was destroyed too!
Is that a fiberglass body? Looks dirty and paint it peeling but I don't see rust.
Yup, like all Corvettes the C1s had 'glass bodywork.

When your car looks exactly like one from the movie "Cars", it's time to reassess your life.
