Lamborghini 350 GT Convertible - the single headlights distinguish from the 400GT

Your countrymen at Classic Driver.com say otherwise and ID it as a Lamborghini 400 GT Spyder.

Could it be that the 125 Spyders made had two headlights while the more numerous coupes had 4?

I'm guessing the military version of the Ramcharger.

Well, this is a really tough one since Dodge Ram trucks pretty much looked the same from '72 through '82. That roofline is sort of 'Bronco-esque', but I give up on the year.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
I'm looking at a picture in a book of a 350GT convertible - with two headlights. And there is a 350GT coupe with two as well... Presumably they switched to four after switching to the 400... You live and learn...

If it's not a Ramcharger, it's a Plymouth Trail Duster.

The top one looks like a 2012 Lexus ES350. Not sure it's a twin, but you better rush out and grab the bottom one quick before it disappears if it's a Saab!

You're righ on both counts, on the bottom is a 2012 Saab 9-5. The other night I saw a silver one in a parking lot and the very next night I saw what appeared to be another (different color) new 9-5 in the same exact spot but when I went to take a better look, I saw the ES-350 badge.

From the side they're the same car except for a slight difference in the C-post, even the wheels are similar.

I scanned this picture of my FIL's 911, and am hoping the educated folks here can tell me the year and model (911T, 911S, etc.)

The thick chrome around the headlights make it a Porsche 911 ca. 1968-'71. From that angle it's impossible to tell if it's a 911T, E or S

    Fiat Panda.

Are they theatening to bring it here??

I sat in one of these new Pandas at Frankfurt - I think they launched it there. Sadly, it is a bit bigger than the previous Panda - which is really narrow - so it is another car that will slowly outgrow it's market, and morph into something bigger.
We hired one of the (still current) Pandas in Italy last year, and it was great - really ideal for narrow country roads, easy to park, etc. Loads of room inside too although not great on shoulder space. But then I used to drive a Fiat Seicento, so it felt a bit like a five door version of one of those. Every generation of a new car seems to be about 5 or 10% bigger than the one it is replacing, which makes our roads tighter, parking more tricky, etc.
The standard size for a car park space was determined in the 1960's when we all drove cars no bigger than a Rover 2000 or a Ford Cortina, and those are really quite narrow cars by modern standards, so when you go into a town car park - particularly a multi storey with loads of pillars - if it is an old one there isn't room for the larger cars so many people drive now - my old home town in Wales, Bridgend, has a car park in the middle of town which was built in the 70's and the last time I parked in it about a year ago, when I came back to my car I had a lot of difficulty getting into it, because one side of me was a Ford SMax and the other side was a BMW X5 - so I was basically going nowhere - luckily the X5 owner came along just behind me so it was possible for me to get in on the passenger side but still......
Doesn't help that like everyone else I'm not as lithe and slim as I was

And I guess you have no pic of the rear...have you posted this in a 911 forum?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Don't you be complaining about cars being too big for their spaces. Over here you have to maneuver around giant-sized pickups that overhang their spaces in all directions.

There ought to be a law.

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
I assume by the emoticon that you're aware that Magnette is correct about it being a 2012 Fiat Panda, a cute ute based on the 500 but not alas for US.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Yup, just commenting that the Panda is based on the 500 platform (actually, it's the other way around) so that could make its way to the USA. The engine already passed all the emissions tests and stuff.

That doesn't help much but the Fuchs alloy wheels lack the charcoal gray trim seen on most late 60s and early 70s 911s like this '67 example>

    image

Combined with the thicker headlight trim it suggests this car was probably a low spec, early 1968 911T.

    Thanks, Andy.

I don't know much about the car other than the 2 pictures. My FIL passed away in 2005 and my wife remembers the car from her childhood. I suspect he bought it used, kept it for a few years, then sold it and moved on.

When he passed he was driving a 1992 Subaru Legacy wagon with 129K on the clock.

Hmm...I hope it doesn't rain (looks like one of those canals in LA).

One thing there is unlike all the others - Isetta 600. I will not hog them all, I will only name the Falcon at bottom right and the 61 Ford behind it.
  • uplanderguyuplanderguy Member Posts: 16,897
I wsn't 'hog' either, except to say that I don't see anything newer than a '62 Chevy and '62 Ford in the pic.

Too bad there are no Studes or fintails visible in the lineup ;)

Camelot era street scenes are interesting - 50s flamboyance was still on the road, but 60s modernity was working its way in.

I had to look pretty hard to find the '62 Chevy, I assume you mean that white wagon. The photo was taken in 1962 in Houston.

Does anyone see the second '62 Ford?

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,456
62 Ford is kind of in the middle rear, the front end isn't obscured much, you can see the center emblem.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,456
I wonder what kind of people bought those in the US then - they were seen as funny even in Europe. And in Texas, no less.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
We didn't get that as an Isetta 600, it was sold over here as a BMW 600 - which would be confusing now, if you tell someone you drive a BMW 600 they would have a different impression of what you are going to turn up in....
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
Two cars behind the tiddler, I see a 53 Chrysler - I'm guessing a New Yorker.. And behind that a 54 Oldsmobile (?)

    I see a 53 Chrysler - I'm guessing a New Yorker.

It's either a '53 or a '54. These were very conservative designs for the mid 50s but handsome in their own way. I think only the top models wore the V on the hood. I wonder if it could be an Imperial?

Yes that's an Olds behind probably a '54

The Chrysler is definitely a '53, and the Olds is, as mentioned, a '54. Since nobody said it yet, the two Falcons (front and behind the '61 Ford) are both '61s. In the next lane nobody mentioned the the two '61 Impalas in front of and behind the Isetta/BMW; in the same row behind the '53 Chrysler and the '54 Olds I spy a '60 Falcon. Next row left is a '58 Dodge wagon, a '60 Chevrolet, and a '59 Plymouth. Next row left is a '60 Chrysler, another '59 Plymouth, and the '62 Ford previously mentioned.

    I know it's a late 70s TVR...Taimar?

It's almost impossioble to tell the many variations of the TVR Granatura apart, you could write a whole book on them. TheTaimar had a longer nose but optherwise looked just like the Griffith/Granatura/etc/etc.

The silver car shown is a TVR 3000M with the British Ford V6 under the hood.

I was convinced the top photo was a 2012 Camry, I had to look multiple times to see it was a Lexus.

I'd take the Saab anyday, bankrupt or not.

    G'day

Already mentioned elsewhere as a TVR Taimar. The photo looks like some sort of TVR meet as there are more recent ones in the background and I think the Yellow car to left is a Lotus.

TVR made lovely old style British sports cars with far too much power, The name derived from the original owner TreVoR Wilkinson. A subsequent owner complained that he would have preferred something more prosaic, Trevor not really being his cup of tea.

A former boss had a TVR Griffith, one of the more truly scary cars I have ever driven; a short trip was enough to dissuade any enthusiasm

I'd love to find a better quality image as I recognize the street-scape but cannot remember where it is

    Cheers
