Wow! Well, my monitor prevents me from doing much with the cars on the far side of the telephone pole ( I think I see a '55 or so Buick and a '53 or so Lincoln), but on the closer side I see a '57 Chevy 210, a '55 Ford (V-8), a '54 Chevy, an early '50s ChryCo product, and up on the riser, a '52 (I think) Ford, a '57 Plymouth, a '55 (possibly '56) Plymouth, and a '56 Ford.

That thar is a Ferrari 512, I reckon. I'm gonna guess 1981 and a BBi, but not sure.

    12 cylinders, 302 cid, 360 HP 188 mph.

    That's right Shifty.

You might be surprised to learn that this car is being advertised as a Testarossa!. We know that it is in fact a 1982 Ferrari 512BBi, the last iteration of the "Boxer". The Testarossa (as opposed to the Testa Rossa) began production in 1984.

Would you buy an expensive exotic from a dealer that didn't know the correct name? :lemon:

Looks like a Fiat 500 wagon, what did they call those?
  • Options
    fintailfintail Member Posts: 57,179
The old Fiat wagon term was "Giardiniera"

    andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,392
Keerect it's a Fiat 500 (or 600) Giardiniera. There is talk of one based on the new FWD Fiat 500.

    Giardiniera.

Isn't that what they put on the sandwiches at Al's Italian Beef, in Chicago?

    Giardiniera

Shucks, usually my fluent Portuguese helps me, but I would not have guessed that in a million years. Sounds like the Portuguese word "Jardineiro" for gardener.

I'm thinking a Jaguar XK120. Sometimes the rear wheels were skirted, other times not.

    andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,392
That's right Lemko. It's generally the earlier cars that wore skirts but if you ask me they look very cool with 'em.

They made about 240 of these aluminum-bodied XK120 Roadsters in 1949-50 before switching to steel for volume production.

The only car that has ever looked good with skirts is the Citroen DS.

They weren't exactly skirts, at least not the kind that could be removed. In order to change a rear tire you had to reach in and undo 3 or 4 latches and remove the entire rear quarter!

In fairness, on the DS you did save time on the other part of the job though - the hydraulic system allowed you to just pump the car up and lock it, then drop one wheel, unbolt and replace it, and then let it all back down.

then drop one wheel, unbolt and replace it, and then let it all back down.

...and put the rear quarter/fender back on. ;)

I've heard that the skirts on the Jag 120 tended to overheat the rear brakes, which were none too good to begin with. Also no wire wheels if you have skirts. :(

Well the hupcaps suggest that someone is calling for BATMAN!

Oh, I know, we just have to wait until the wheel turns 180 and then we'll have the answer.

Nice turntable! What the heck is this????

On the table, a '57 Oldsmobile; front left a '52 Buick; in the middle a '56 Lincoln; and on the right a '50 Ford behind a '49 or '50 Mercury.

This was Dawn Donuts, located on 6th and Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia. You drive in, the turntable moves your car around, and you pull up to the drive up window

Where I learned to drive in Wales we had roads like that, without the turntable - but smaller cars, admittedly.

Gone! #32069 was a 1967-ish Trident Clipper, produced by a small British company that combined Fissore coachwork with 289 Ford power. '67 cars were built on Healey 3000 chassis, later TR6 chassis and Ford V6 power
    were used.

    Later models had four headlights>
