Bentley S1 Continental Drop Head. Impossible to tell the year as they didn't make too many and they generally looked very similar year to year 1955-59. Lovely and relativelyl rare car, yours for maybe $150,000 (discount for RHD).
Yeah we did do that one recently. It was badged BMW 2000 Touring in Europe but at least a few were sold on this side badged "2002 Touring". Those are aftermarket wheels either Minilites or Panasports.
You've correctly IDd the Bentley, that one's a MY '55, body work was by Mulline Park Ward and the ad sez only 69 were made.
I was in San Juan, PR in October of '92... The MX-3 was a rare sighting at home, but they were all over Puerto Rico... As common as Civics were at home..... I always thought that was weird..
Dang, I'm missing out here. I knew the Wartburg answer too, and the Picasso.
New girlfriend keeps me busy and away from the pc (which is not a bad thing )
Speaking of Matchbox, mine are mostly from the 80's and mid 90's. The stuff they come out with now is stupid looking, and cheap. I have about 300 of them, no boxes. I have a few 1:18 scale cars as well, bunch of Johnny Lighning James Bond and Simpsons cars, most of the Fast and Furious collection, a few complete sets of DubCity cars, Modifiers, the whole Hot Wheels 2003 collection in boxes, and some odds and ends here and there. Add that to my 1400 car brochures and about 700 issues car magazine collection and you can now see why i'm on Edmunds identifying cars
Anyways the Wartburg was also popular in Poland. Our neighbour had one in the 80's. Compared to the junk sold in Poland during the 80's, the Wartburg was sorta luxury car. If you had a Wartburg you were well off.
Now for the horrific looking blue van. It's a Toyota Alphard. Asian Market only I presume. I went on the Japanese Toyota webiste. I wonder why they use different badges on the grille. Any ideas Navigator?
We had the 2002 Touring in UK, apparently at the time it didn't sell well, but I still see one or two occasionally. Now it is a popular classic, although not as desirable as the 2002tii, which really was a flyer!
Toyota Alphard is right. When I first saw one in Malaysia, my first thought was that those headlights looked bigger than those of an Escalade!!
About the grille, I'm guessing that some manufacturers use different badges on the grille maybe because it is a special model that they wish to distinguish from others. The Mustang has the pony, although I'm not sure this car is special enough for it's own grille.
I collect toy cars as well. I used to be focused on Matchbox and Hot Wheels, but now I'm moved up to 1:24 Maisto models. I saw a 1:18 scale Chrysler 300C, Mercedes CLS, Jeep Rescue, Ford Torino at a store recently. They looked really nice.
The '70 Caddy wagon is a Fleetwood, the small lettering on the side indicates that and the ad says "'70 Fleetwood Wagon" w/o mentioning another name. I suspect it was built off a sedan by one of the outfits that makes hearse and ambulances. Caddy ambulances were common before van-based ones became the norm.
MX-3 was an interesting little car, you guys recall the V6 in there? 130hp 1.8l!
Odd choice because Mazda had a 1.8l engine in the Protoge, which made 125hp. So all that added cost, complexity, weight, and friction, for 5 measly horses.
I have way too many of them including about 10 1/24 scale Ferraris that I built and detailed myself, in most cases I've added extra detailing that didn't come with the kit.
My 1/18th diecasts are getting out of hand, my wife sez our house is starting to look like a parking lot or a dealership for used racing and sports cars. I'll never own a real 300SL, 917/30 or Healey 3000 but it's enjoyable to collect them in miniature. Yes, my collection does reflect my Eurocentric tastes in cars but I have some nice Mustangs and Shelby' in various scales.
...the episode of "Adam-12" when some guy stole an AMX by driving it through the showroom window? It's soon pursued by Reed and Malloy in their Matador squad car. Nice plug for AMC.
Got behind in my reading of this forum. The Talisman was an interior and trim package offered on the '74 and '75 (I think) Caddy Fleetwood. It was ultra-luxurious and very expensive. In the first year they even offered 4-place seating, with 4 sculptured seats. I don't know how many they sold, but I have seen at least 1 for sale in Hemmings.
2009 BMW 335i, 2003 Corvette cnv. (RIP 2001 Jaguar XK8 cnv and 1985 MB 380SE [the best of the lot])
Not exactly, there's a Sprint underneath it but a different body and this car was made from '63-'66 only a few came to the USA. The full name is Giulia SS
This is a first series Jaguar XJ12 - 1972/3 - a great car but a thirsty engine - 5.3V12, just in time for the fuel crisis! That is a Coventry registration for late 1972, so I would imagine it is at the time of the launch.
The grill looked slightly different (must be the early year), and usually you make it more difficult, so I went for the obscure instead of the obvious.
The grille on Daimlers is heavier at the top, witth fluting along the top edge, but does have slightly thicker vertical bars. The early XJ6 had a plainer grille, with vertical and (less) horizontal bars. This early XJ12 had thin vertical bars, but also a different badge. They didn't make many of these early V12 Jags, because the XJ6/XJ12 was facelifted in 1973 to the series 2, with higher bumpers, and the grille was shorter thereafter.

It's labeled as an XJ6 MY 1968 but you seen to be attuned to the nuances of those cars so you are prolly right. but here's the brochure cover for the original XJ6, it sure looks like the same grille to me, possibly even the same car :confuse: >>
I have this brochure somewhere in my collection. ">
Oh gimme a break, cmon---it's the same exact body for both types...the only way to tell the different is to read the fender script or look at the instrument cluster. But if you are going to be that STRICT about it, okay, I missed it fair and square.

Was it not popular in Europe? They like hatches over there.

I posted it because I saw one recently and it reminded me how that style, while practical, is kind of jarring on a 2002.
That's right, they are called a "Touring". That's the proper nomenclature.

I have but a few larger models, they just take up too much room. I do have a big 1:18 fintail, a Supra, and a few others. But I have to be selective.
I have this one in my collection, 1:18 scale, which I built from a kit.
