does that holden mini-truck look like the concept 'holden monaro el-camino'?
also let's find that blue paint color code just in case i ever paint my 2005 pontiac/holden gto-monaro. Looks like DQE-10418 windsor blue or DQE-170722 overland blue. (Did holden use GM paint codes in 1951? they'd only been part of GM for 3 years at that point.)
Sure does, explorer. In my little hometown (8,800 people then; not a suburb), there was a blue Superbird with black vinyl top in that color of the Holden above, always parked on the street outside Greenville Steel Car Co., where employees parked.

G'day
I think that the colour might not be original. Although the Holden car was designed in Detroit, it had very high local content and colours were from the Dulux. Paints line. My recollection of them is much more muted and they seemed to age poorly.
The Holden firm of body builders was acquired by GM in 1931 and the plan to build a car in Australia was formed during the second world war. Oddly, Holden were the original body builder for Ford in Australia before Ford established their body works.
I dunno if the Golf GTD is out of the picture but according to some accounts station wagon fans made enough of a fuss to get Audi to reconsider dropping the Sportback wagon in favor of the sedan. Starting in 2016 there will be an Audi A3 TDI Sportback in addition to the A3 sedan and convertible.
I was behind an early Acura Legend yesterday afternoon and that car looks downright petite compared to today's Acuras. The car appeared to be in pretty nice condition. I had a co-worker who bought a used 1988 model back in the day.
The 54 Ambassador Custom had the external continental spare tire which I didn't see in the photo so I went with the Ambassador Super which did not. Perhaps the continental spare tire was removed because of interference with the trailer.

That is a VERY rare car. I don't think I've ever seen one and I've been to a lot of
Chevy shows.
A guy around here has a 1956 210 4 door hardtop. I didn't know they were even produced!
It has every option I've ever seen except for A/C. It has PS PB factory wire hubcaps, Autronic eye, Wonderbar, rear speaker, tissue holder and more stuff I can't remember now. It even has a Continental Kit that looks like it was factory installed. I'm thinking it was an aftermarket unit installed by the dealer but I could be wrong.

Chevrolet called two-door hardtops "Sport Coupe" and 4-door hardtops "Sport Sedan" for decades. A four-door post was just the "Bel Air 4-door Sedan".
It also didn't have the flat top. Actually, I always considered the '59/'60 Chevy
4-door sedan to be very frumpy looking compared with the 4-door hardtop.

isellhondas, speaking of a '56 Chevy 210 Sport Sedan (I like '56's a lot although I think the '57 was a bit better rust-proofed from the factory; the '57's styling doesn't do much for me though), have you seen this clip, about a Wisconsin lady who hasn't owned another car since buying this '57 Sport Sedan in '57?
bhill, I have a Studebaker buddy whose parents had several new Cadillacs in the '50's and '60's. My friend's late mom was a tiny lady, and she always said she liked their '60 flat-top Caddy best of all, because she could see out of it. I don't know how she wheeled it around, but she was right on the visibility aspect.

When I was a young teen in the early 90s, a friend of my dad had a 60 Caddy flat top - in original color of kind of a magenta pink. I want to say the interior was white and grey, but I am not certain. Like many old Caddys, it wore pink better than most other cars. I thought it was a very cool old beast.
Funny how the mid 50's brought on so many colorful pastels and combinations and then come '61 they were pretty much gone from the scene (even two-tones started to fade out).
I like those 59/60 4 door flat tops, but more so on the shorter wheelbase versions like Impala or 88. However, I've heard they weren't very rigid and could have used more frame support. I guess that also meant rattles!

it also allows me to expand on a comment i made before. The leftmost car in front of the store is a '60 Chevy Impala flat top (4-door hardtop). If you go around the corner and stroll past the Renault Dauphine, you come to a '60 Chevy Impala 4-door sedan. Note the difference in roof line. Had I been shopping for a Chevy in that time frame I wouldn't have given the sedan a second look. Personal observation.

My Dad pleasantly surprised me in '59 when he opted for the much sleeker (Merc Monterey) 4-door h/t over the sedan but I know he thought the sedan would be "tighter" He must've decided that the no-B-poster was tight enough because his next car was a pillarless '64 Catalina 4dr.
Between the '60 Plymouth and the '55 Ford there's a '53 or '54 Pontiac (our family car before the Merc h/t)
Oddly, they found homrs in far flung places, being exported as CKD kits to Australia, where Holden assembled them and to New Zealand in SKD form.
They always seemed to large for Australia, but some liked them. A quick search shows four currently for sale including a very nice looking 1967 pillarless four door.

Those Canadian Pontiacs were really strange cars.
They had Chevrolet drivetrains with usually a 283 engine.
They also had Chevrolet front suspension so the front fenders hung out too far.
So, if you were overhauling the front suspension, you used Chevy ball joints, bushings
and everything else like shocks and idler arms.
I wouldn't want one!
I've never quite understood why the Big Three put so much re-engineering and re-branding into their Canadian market cars, IIRC it was a smaller market than California. That said Pontiacs were hugely popular in Canada; I remember driving across the plains of Quebec and constantly being passed by little old ladies doing 80+ in their Ponchos.
