    It's advertised as a 1958 Dodge Kingsman.

Here's the craigslist ad, and another one.

Dodge did have a Kingsway. I don't think the guy knows just what he has.

    From the ad:
"MY FRIEND GOT THIS CAR FROM A PERSON WHO TOOK THIS CAR OFF A POLE. WHERE IT WAS BEING USED FOR ADVERTISEMENT. THE PICTURE OF THE ROOF SHOWS A LITTLE SQUARE AND ON THE FLOOR WHICH HAVE BEEN REPAIRED. "

Ya, @stickguy spotted that too. Maybe it needs to go back up on a pole. :D

Magnette, yes, early 60s. A badge-engineered type of car, also called an Austin Cambridge and probably other cars as well.

I actually prefer the Triumph TR-4 and Spitfire to the TR-6.

I like the TR-4, but I have a soft spot for the TR-3 because they were not uncommon in the Chicago suburbs when I was growing up and we knew several people who owned them as well.
  • iluvmysephia1iluvmysephia1 Member Posts: 7,709
Then Triumph threw a TR-250 in there, just ta keep us honest.

There is a pretty decent looking one for sale in Howell in front of some sort of industrial business unit on Fairfield Rd. I pulled in just to take a quick gander but came to my senses. Way too tiny for me.

Those canvass tops and side curtains leaked like a devil when it rained. But then most convertibles weren't all that tight either back then I suppose.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,354
Berri, good news now is that if I got one at this point, it would never be in the rain!

Q, I was watching an episode of Garage Squad last week, and they rehabbed a 1973 TR6. Came out nice. I have to fit better in one of those than in my 2001 miata.

That Magneete uses an MGA powerplant--finding one not rusted out is remarkable. I always thought the survival rate was zero.

Yup it's a 1959 MG Magnette Mk.III, nearly identical to several other BMC sedans, but only the Magnette and the Riley 4 versions had twin carb setups (per Wikipedia)

The 1968-69 TR-250, a US only model preceded the TR6, the overseas version was the TR5PI (a more powerful fuel injected variant).

Yes, The Farina Magnette - -the MkIII with the 1489cc engine and the subsequent MkIV with a 1622cc version, are now quite rare - far fewer survivors than my ZA, or the subsequent ZB, but they do turn up - I've seen two together at an event. Same event had 25 ZA/ZB versions though..

Yup but you forgot about the "F-85" part, so a '63 Oldsmobile F-85 Jetfire .
It was the first modern production car to featured turbocharging.

Those look like Olds wheel covers but I couldn't say if they are correct for that car.

The wheel covers are correct for the '63 F-85 however there were ones of different design used for the '63 F-85 Jetfire, Cutlass, and Deluxe Wagon.
The Corvair Monza just missed being the first turbocharged production car in '62 losing out to the '62 Jetfire by only a few months.

Hmmm, but the '69 Ford Galaxie did not have hidden headlamps.
The LTD did as did the XL. It must be a 1969 Ford XL. There was no Galaxie XL that year.

I am pretty sure such conversions are by the owner.

Always liked the "faux fastback" styling of many of the 60s cars, but that grill.....not so much. Reminds me of a electric razor or looking down into a toaster.

It's right-hand drive and licensed in British Columbia, so it must have been shipped in from England or Australia or other such country. I can't get further than that though.

This is a car that is more familiar in the US than here where it was built. At first I thought it was an Allard Palm Beach but I think it is the contemporary K3.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yup it's a 1952 Allard K3, this one powered by a Cadillac V8. They aren't actually all that familiar to us in the USA, even if most of them were exported to here. I've never actually seen a K3 or a Palm Beach but like most sports car guys I've seen plenty of J2s

    Is it a 1953 Packard?
And the hood slit means it's a Caribbean. Available only as convertible.
    Is the color original?
"Available "advertised" colors for the car were limited to Polaris Blue, Gulf Green Metallic, Maroon Metallic or Sahara Sand. However, a mere handful of special-ordered cars were built in Ivory or Black." per WikiG

    If it's a '53, or even a '54 Carib that's one rare bird ( only 750 made in 1953, and 400 in 1954, and 500 in 1955).
