Received a quote as follows today....

39mo/10k NYC taxes 8.86% rolled into payment.
    MSRP: 55,540
Cap Cost reduction: 1,000 (Infiniti spring incentive)
    Residual: 58%
    MF: 0.001
    Adjusted cap cost: 49,713

Due at signing: 533.12 (First month)
    280.00 (Registration)
    700.00 (Acquisition Fee)
    499.00 (Documentation Fee)
    199.00 (VIN Etch)
88.75 (Tax on the 1k incentive)
    86.80 (Tax on upfront items)
    62.13 (Tax on acquisition fee)

    Total due at signing: 2448.80

What do you guys think of this deal? How bout due at signing fees? I'm assuming Aquisition fee= bank fee? Also I dont think I should be paying a VIN Etch fee (i dont care if it has or doesnt have vin etching) and what is a "doc" fee?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you!

Above my car price itself I left the 700 bank fee in it.   So really it comes out to...

    Car price itself:  15,396.63
    Taxes:  1,106.82
    Bank fee:  700
    DMV:  450
    Doc:   399

    = 18,052.27

I will say, I knew a guy who knew a guy at the Infiniti dealer.   He did make it sound like there was hardly any profit for them.    I agree.   Calling other dealers near me for this same MSRP of 46,610 one sales manager offered 486/month all included, plus upfront of bank fee, doc fee, 1st month = 1410.   Net lease cost $19,800-ish.

I do feel like I got a steal with 18,052 grand total.

    Congrats!

And, don't worry about the dealer profit. They wouldn't have agreed to the deal if they weren't making something, somewhere.

    Assuming AWD, .00103 and 58%

With your MSRP and adjusted cap, I get $533/mo. What payment is the dealer quoting you?

Yes, acquisition fee and bank fee are one and the same.

Negotiate out the VIN etch cost.

I was under the impression that NY capped the doc fee at $75 - are you getting this car from a NJ or CT dealer?

533 was the quoted monthly. CT dealer. How much is NJ dealers capping the doc fee at? I'd be registering the car in NYC.

I don't think there is a cap on the doc fee in either NJ or CT .. I've seen them as high as $499.

    MSRP $53,190 (QX60 AWD)
    Taxes 7.375%
MF = 0.00103 (no security deposits)
    RV = 57%
At inception cost = $528.00 (first months lease payment) + $75 (doc fee) + DMV

Apparently, a $1,000 cap reduction is being applied. Is this is a good deal?

Looks like NY State, given the doc fee.

I get $481/mo with those prices and numbers.

I'd confirm the cap cost number - the $1000 at signing may cover just the first payment and DMV costs. Taxes and fees may be rolled in, causing the payment to increase.

Including all costs (taxes, DMV, and other fees) the Cap Cost is $47,800. At the signing, I am asked to pay only the first month's payment and then 38 monthly payments. All fees are being rolled into the lease.

Got my car! As stated before, here are the numbers. I was incorrect about what was upfront, but overall price remains unchanged.

2017 QX60 AWD base. Majestic white extra cost option and splash guards.

    MSRP $46,610

39 month lease / 10k miles per year.

Due upfront $1144.93 and then 38 payments of $444.89.

    Due upfront breakdown.................

    Cap cost reduction $637.65
    1st mont payment $444.89
Tax on cap cost reduction $57.39
    Tire Tax $5.00
    Grand total due upfront: $1144.93

As you can see, all else will be included in the monthly payments, stuff like DMV fees, taxes, etc. below:

    Gross capitalized cost breakdown........

Agreed upon value of vehicle $39,725
    Up front sales tax $1,385.40
    License and Registration $349
    Acquisition Fee $700
    Title $60
    Plate/Online Reg Fee $44.55

    Gross Capitalized Cost = $42,263.95

    From lease agreement:

    Box A. Gross Capitalized cost = $42,263.95
(with a note stating agreed vehicle value = $39,725

    Box B. Capitalized Cost Reduction = $637.65

    Box C. Adjusted Cap Cost = $41,626.30

    Box D. Residual Value = $27,033.80 (this is 58% of MSRP 46,610)

Box E. Depreciation and any amortized amounts = $14,592.50

    Box F. Rent Charge = $2,758.21

Box G. Total of Base monthly payents = $17,350.71

Box H. Number of payments in your lease = 39

    Box I. Base Monthly Payment = $444.89

Box J. Mnthly Sales, Use, or Lease tax = N.A.

    Box K. Monthly Luxury Tax = N.A.

Box L. Total Monthly Payment 444.89

    ********************************************************************

How does that look? Sounds about right? 58% residual is true and I don't know the MF.

Great deal. If the QX had middle row Captains chairs it would be on the list to replace our 15 Enclave.

    Yes, .00113 MF
That seems like a very small bump. I wonder if it's even accurate, or if they just pulled a number from memory.

The discount looks great, but it's really $1300 less than that, once you add in the garbage fees. I'm sure electronic filing costs something, but it sure isn't $500.

I don't know how good the deal is, as I don't follow pricing. $1500 upfront and $499/mo. isn't too bad for a $46K MSRP vehicle.

I've heard from several people now for a 36-39 month lease that a general rule of thumb for a great deal is 1% of the MSRP for the montly payment with everything included (adding down payment to monthly cost).

Eg, if a vehicle is MSRP 46,000 then a 460/month everything included for 39 months net cost = 17,940 would be considered a great deal.

Any truth to this 1% rule?

I wouldn't call it a "truth", I'd call it a guideline. Not every car can be leased for 1% of the sticker price. It really depends on the discounts, MF, residual and incentives that are available.

Some can be leased for less than 1% (cars at the end of their lifecycle and are about to be replaced, for example). Others, you can't even come close (new models, popular models).

If you try to achieve that goal with every lease, you're likely to be disappointed.

I didn't lease crossover/SUV yet but for both of my current leases (Acura TLX and Camry XSE) this rule works, my payments are 0.9% and 1% of MSRP respectively. Camry was leased in the beginning of its lifecycle, TLX - close to end.

Hello. Need some guidance on my situation. I'm currently in a 39 mo lease on a QX60 which ends in November. I am hoping to begin a new lease asap to avoid paying the DMV renewal which is due in August. Looks like I will be over on the mileage by 2-3k. I also have 3600 security deposit on the old lease. What do you all recommend? Will the dealer buy me out of the lease and if so will he likely roll it into the new lease? Should I wait it out? Just looking to get the best deal and not loose my entire security deposit. Also Infiniti is offering $500 towards the mileage if I get another lease.

The one downside to a 39 month lease term -- that pesky renewal of the tags for 3 months.

Gather some information - find out the current payoff value of your current car, plus determine the trade value (do you have a CarMax nearby?).

The MSD monies will be refunded to you if you don't lease another Infiniti; if you do, they would roll over to the new lease.

The miles are the miles - if you turn the car in at the end of the lease, those costs can be added to the new lease.

With your MSRP and Net Cap Cost, I get $547/mo with the base MF.

MF markup is adding about $30/mo to the payment.

Why can't you just transfer the plates to your new vehicle?

I thought the MF for the FWD 36/12 was @ .00103 this month? Did it recently move to .00113?

What is your recommendation on paying taxes and acquisition/dealer fees upfront vs rolling into the lease?

.00103 for AWD; .00113 for FWD

We recommend rolling everything but the first payment and DMV costs into the lease.

I am close to purchasing a 2017 QX60, FWD, Prem, Prem+, Deluxe model
    12k/39 months
    MSRP $57,280
    Negotiated price = $50,000
    Fees:
    $700 acquisition
    $50 Handling fee
    $44 Cap taxes
    $5 Cap Fees
    Gross Cap = $50,799
9 MSD = $5,400 (dealer double checking if this amount is correct?)
    57% residual
    .00023 MF after 9 MSD
    $484.56 before tax
    $518.48 with tax (7%, 38104 memphis , tn)
Due on delivery = MSD + first months payment

I came up with the same numbers as they did. Just wanted to double check with the experts to see if I am missing anything?

Can you confirm how the MSD payments are calculated for Infiniti leases?

    Thanks!

When I leased an Infiniti with MSDs, they based the SD on the pre-discounted payment, rounded up to the next $25 increment. So, even though my vehicle had a payment of $378/mo, each SD was $450.

Looks like $600 per deposit is the right number.
