Hi - So trying to get a good lease deal in NJ on Honda CRV EX AWD 36,000/12 MSRP 28,935 value 27,200 only fees capitalizing are taxes; no money down, cash at signing 1,426 - includes registration 229, acquisition 595, document fees 249, tire fee 7.5 and 1 lease pmt 345) Is $345 including taxes a good lease payment - should I be trying to get them to go lower on the value or is this as aggressive as I can get. Original lease quotes started at 382 with the same information as above - have gone back to dealer to ask what the capitalized cost they are using. Any advice and is 345 a good lease price given the information?

    65% and .00210

If I add the taxes to the cap cost, I get $355/mo - your quote of $345/mo looks good by comparison.

Only suggestion - add the acquisition fee to the cap cost, as well.

But, get the cap cost the dealer is using. That will help.

Just closed on a CRV lease yesterday. Curious if I got a good deal (feel like I did, but wanted to make sure).

    10803 zip code
2017 CRV EX-L AWD without Nav
    $31,435 MSRP
    $28,800 Purchase Price
No money down, first month, tax, bank, DMV, etc. at purchase: (~$2000)
    Price per month: $335
38 month lease, 1K per month
    0.0016 MF
    64% Residual

(I was told that a 36 month lease was a 0.002 MF and 39 was 0.0021--for some reason bank wanted 38 month lease).

Is it a Honda Finance lease, or some other bank?

Using your numbers, and assuming the purchase price is the CAP cost, I get $307/mo.
Did they give you the adjusted CAP cost?

Bank of America is the lender. I don't have the adjusted cap cost but walked through the numbers with the guy as we went through and it looked right...hmmm

    Hi-
would love feedback on this...I've not leased before
it was so fast I'm not sure on the numbers, but msrp was 31,500, they went to 30,500 and then I went to 30000.
They started at about 5000 and 315/ mo for 42/12 and I said no down payment and $340/mo for 36/12.
Oh and this if for the exl.
Up front was $3000. 940 destination, 595 sec dep, 395 title, license, plate, etc , about 800 for sales tax and 340 for first month.
Is this good for NY?  What should I be looking out for when I go to finance dept?

CR-V's are expensive to lease, at the moment.

    .00200 and 65% for 36/12, 61% for 42/12

Our suggestion is to limit the up front cash to just the first payment and DMV costs - roll everything else into the lease payment (taxes and fees). That money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled before the end of the lease.

I don't have access to those numbers, but the adjusted CAP cost is important. $18/mo. is $650 unaccounted for, and you already have $2000 upfront.

Hi there, new to leasing but very interested in a 2017 CR-V AWD Touring. Looking on the dealer website, they list one for MSRP of $33695, figure I could hopefully get them down $1500, down to $32195. Zipcode is 20155, near Washington D.C. What kind of payments could I expect for a lease and what would the RV/MF be? Last is $1500 off MSRP a good deal? Thanks so much! Also looking at 36 or 39 month lease at 15k miles.

    Can't help you with pricing.

Virginia taxes the entire selling price, even for a lease.

    Hi,

I'm looking to lease 2017 honda crv EX trim.
I would to pay all the lease amount upfront ('one pay lease'). I know it is not a good idea to pay the lease amount upfront. I don't have credit history. I also don't have to pay for the money factor.
I got the following quote from the dealer
" $13700 for 36 months 10k miles and includes all taxes and fees"
Is this a good deal ?

    Hi,

I just got this deal from a local MA dealer. (Boch Honda West, Westford, MA)

    Model: EX AWD
    MSRP: $28,935
Sale Price: $26,311 ($500 mark up for locating Obsidian blue, else the sale price was $25,811 for any dealer stock which is dark olive or basque red)
Residual: 65% (dealer told me after Apr 1st it will be 63%)
MF: not sure (i believe .00210)
Drive off amount: $1500 ($595 acq fees, $170 DMV, $430 dealer fees, $299+tax first month payment)
    Down Payment: $0
Lease Term: 36 months/12K miles per year

    Monthly Payment: $299+6.25% tax

You still pay interest, even with a one pay lease.

    What state and tax rate?

You did okay. The dealer lied about the residual. The current lease program is scheduled to run until May.

    MSRP: $28,935
    Selling price: $27,000
    State: PA
    Tax rate: 6%
Lease tax in PA is an extra 3%, so 9% total.

In most of the country, the lowest mileage allowance through Honda Finance is 12K/yr. In they NY area, they seem to offer 10K/yr.
Assuming they offer 10K/yr in your area, then .00210 MF and 66% residual

I'll add $1000 for acquisition fee, plus state and dealer fees.
With those numbers, and a straight 36 month lease, your payment would be $346/mo+tax = $377/mo.

I don't know the money factor discount for a single pay lease, but dividing your quote by 36 months = $380/mo, so it doesn't look like you'd save any money, that way.

I'm new to leasing and looking at a CRV EX-L/Touring AWD. Can I get the residual value & money factor for 3yr/12k miles and when these numbers will expire? And if the numbers will be better if I wait. Thank you!

    .00210 and 65% (EX-L) or 62% (Touring)

The numbers will get better. No idea of when, however. CR-V's are selling and leasing well, so there isn't much incentive for Honda to make the numbers more consumer friendly.

    Just a basic question

What is the best stuff to pay up front?
I thought i just saw a post that said pay nothing and roll everything into the payment.
But if i want lower payments what should i agree to pay that is best in the long run?
And what is woth the tire fee i always see? Can i fight that $7.00 lol

Thanks Michael. Seems like an EX-L is a better deal than Touring if I'm not planning to keep the car at end of lease.

Is the residual value calculated from purchase price or MSRP?

We suggest you pay only the first payment and DMV costs up front. Money down is at risk if the car is stolen or totaled.

If you pay taxes or fees up front, it's unlikely that the unused portion will be refunded to you if the lease terminates early.

If you want lower payments, start with a less expensive car. CR-V's are expensive to lease, relative to MSRP, at the moment.

Adding $595 to the price for the acquisition fee, .0021 MF and 62% residual, I get $438/mo.+tax = $472/mo.

About $500 off. Ask for the adjusted CAP cost.
    (that's a lot of money for a CR-V)

I wonder if the Electronic Filing fee doesn't have some padding in it, as well.
I get $356/mo. with 7% tax, but the dealer fee and acquisition fee are taxable. But, that should only add about $3/mo.

The electronic filing fee is another dealer fee. I'll ask to chop the dealer fee and electronic filing fee. They said they would make the first payment as well so I'm going to eliminate that as well. Would you be willing to provide your lease calculations so how I can show to the dealer?

I was quoted $370 with tax on a 2017 CR-V EX-L with $2,295 out of pocket. 12k miles. 36 months. MSRP $30,135. Selling Price $27,974. Dealer will pay my 2 remaining payments on my A3 and make my first payment on the the CR-V. Is this a good deal?

    What state and tax rate?

    65% and .00210

    What does the $2295 cover?

Using your prices, I get $333/mo plus tax.
    FL. 6%.

    Here is the breakdown:

    $369 First Payment
    $795 Dealer Fee
    $232 License Plate Transfer
    $239 Electronic Filing
    $595 Bank Acquisition Fee

    $2,230 Total Out Of Pocket
    $795 dealer fee.. sheeesh

    It's just simple math.
    MSRP X .65 = Residual amount
    Selling price - residual = depreciation/term = monthly depreciation
(Selling price + residual) X money factor = monthly finance charge
(monthly depreciation + monthly finance charge) X tax rate = monthly tax
    Monthly depreciation
    + monthly finance
    + monthly tax
    = monthly payment

I have the following offer CR-V Touring AWD. Can you let me know if the monthly payment is correct? Thank you!

    MSRP $34635
    dealer discount $2136
    36 months 12000 miles
    residual value $21474
total due at signing: first month payment, $60 sale tax and $425 registration & fees
    monthly fee $486.75
    sales tax 7.75%

Can you please let me know what State you are shopping in? Also, did you confirm that the Actual Selling Price of this Vehicle is $32,499 (MSRP of $34,635- Discount of $2,136), and equals the Cap Cost before adding in any of the Fees or Drive-off Costs, and that it does not include a Cap Reduction? Based on what I am seeing, at least in the Northern & Southern California markets, this seems too good to be true. Thank you!

    15k miles, $399/month for 39 months

$2400 out of pocket: 1st months payment, bank fee, taxes, plate transfer etc

And they are paying the last 3 months of my old car @$488/month

How can Honda get away with such a high MF compared to similar models at Toyota and Subaru? Am I missing something here? Are they simply dominating the competition that badly they can justify the difference?

With the new redesign, up to this point in time they can get away with it because of the hype. I would say in the next few months I would expect that MF to drop or Honda will definitely lose market share to those other brands.

I would agree - the new CR-V is selling extremely well, and they can charge a premium while there are 2016's on the lot for the bargain hunters.

Once the 2016 inventory is gone, I'd expect to see a drop in MF. No idea when that will be, however.

So I'm getting ready to do the competitive bidding with the internet sales managers. Ideally, I get a 0-0-0-0, true $0 sign and drive lease, where everything is rolled into the loan. My question is if this is something Honda finance is currently doing or not? None of my local dealers are currently advertising this type of financing, and I'm wondering if it's because Honda finance won't do it anymore.

I have seen recommendations to get the first month and DMV fees to be paid as part of lease signing. Is that because that's what Honda finance will only do currently? I want to give exact specifics to requirements, and this will help to know what I have to work with on the financing side.

You can always do a zero due at signing lease.
Honda isn't doing any special deal for it, like they've done in the past.

What is current MF and RV for lease in CA on AWD Touring?

I'm trying to decide between cars and leasing is new to me. If Kia is offering 4200/6200 lease cash for Sorento and Honda's are "leasing well so no incentive for Honda to make more consumer fiendly" is it better to go with a car that has a bigger lease cash or is Kia just lowering the value of their cars and Honda isn't? Just trying to understand the big picture. Am I solely looking at payment since my intent with leasing is to turn in at the end, so should I I'm not worry about value at end of what do you recommend? I just don't get why some companies have large lease cash and others don't. Thanks for your help.

    .00200 and 60% for 36/15

It is better, in my opinion, to choose the car you are going to enjoy driving for the next 3 years.

Too many people are focused on the deal and end up with a car / truck / SUV that they hate.

Drive both, see which one you like, then work the numbers.

But, the lease cash for the Kia is there to offset the higher MF and lower residual - all three pieces are there to achieve a certain payment.

The Sorento is a larger vehicle than the CR-V, too.

The CR-V is not leasing all that well, at the moment. If you wait a few months, the numbers are likely to get better.
