    Hi there,

Trying to get some input on a deal for a 2018 430i Coupe. 10k miles. No money down.

    MSRP $46,895
    Selling Price $42,050
$2750 Rebate (lease credit + loyalty credit)
    57% residual or $26730.15
    0.00151 money factor
    Fees:
    - $925 acquisition fee
    - $549.00 1st month payment
    - $498 license,title,registration
    - $122.49 tax
    - $655.51 cap reduction
Total lease payment: $509.51 + CA tax, $549.00 including

It seems that the fees were inflated to cancel out the rebate, but maybe it is a good deal. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

I don't see any fee inflation. How much is due at signing?
Ok, that is good to know. There is $0 due at signing.
Subtracting the CAP reduction from the selling price, I get within a dollar of that payment.
The residuals aren't great on the 2018, but you got a big discount, plus the rebates.
Not sure you could do much better, especially with only 35 payments to make.
Appreciate the feedback. Longtime customer of this dealership and it seems like they gave me a great deal this go-around - just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything and that the numbers add up. In the past, I've negotiated down to a $725 acquisition fee and a $75 DMV fee. But I won't try to talk them down if the deal is a good one overall. Thanks for your help!
BMW doesn't allow marked up acquisition fees any more. $925 is it.
CA DMV fees tend to be right around 1% of MSRP. No negotiation there. Every dealer in CA charges the state maximum $80 for a doc fee.

I'm not really sure how to answer if the cap cost includes negative equity/rebates. Is there a formula I could use?

its zero down, so just first month and standard fees. I believe it totals 1100

I'll guess that your "Cap Cost" doesn't include the negative equity or the acq.fee. If I add $3000 negative equity plus the $925 acquisition fee, then I get $724/mo, which is pretty close to your payment.

I'd want to know the actual "Adjusted CAP cost". That's the same as "amount financed" on a loan. That's the only way to determine what you are actually paying for, and if they are using the base money factor.

  • I live in New York. I went to a local BMW dealer with two proposed builds for a 2018 440ix coupe lease for 10,000/36 months. On one build I was told the residual was 57%. When I added the M sport package I was told the residual was 56% and therefore the monthly lease payment would be approx. $12 per month higher. I read somewhere that BMW did away with tier residual pricing. What say you. Thanks

    .00151 and 57% is correct

I don't see anything about the tiered residuals - it was a brief experiment in the spring, but I think both the dealers and customers screamed bloody murder, so it was pulled.

Checked with other BMW dealers to see if you can get a consistent answer.

Gents, can you please tell me what kind of monthly payment to expect on a 2018 440i Coupe manual
    MSRP including handling $55785

    36/10k
    NJ tax 6.85%

  • Hi, I went today to the dealership and this is the deal they gave me.
    2018 430i Gran Coupe
    MSRP $48,990.00
    Selling price $43,240.00
36/12 first payment due at singing
    $584 a month.
The dealer mentioned they are using tax credit for this month! I have no idea what they mean.
The dealer said they are using 0.00235 and 55%. I know they are highjacking the rate and the residual should be 56% for 12k right?

What do you think of this deal?

    Thank you

    Sorry Texas

I don't think the dealer can markup the money factor by that much. If you have top tier credit, then .00191 is as high as they can go.
And, the residual is 56% for 36/12.
There is also a $2000 lease credit on this model.

Leasing banks get tax credits from lease returns from the state. But, they can only take them as a credit against sales taxes owed, and the only way to do that is to pass them along to their lessees. Usually, this is a 5% tax credit, meaning you only pay 1.25% sales tax, instead of 6.25%. Since Texas taxes the full selling price of the vehicle, this is a large discount.

I don't think the rates they gave you are valid. If I add the $925 acquisition fee to the sale price, and use the base MF and proper residual, I get $573/mo. That's not far off of their quote. So, I doubt those are the rates they are using.

You should be negotiating the selling price, not the payment - and, you are almost at 12% off sticker now.

$15/mo is about $500-600 off the cap cost.

  • Can you provide some insight into this quote on a 2018 440 Xi Gran Coupe Lease (36 months/10K miles)

    MSRP - $58,835
    Negotiated Price - $53,390
    Tax - VA
Dealer Processing fee - $699 (VA)
Down Payment - $2K + first month payment of $764
Monthly Lease Payment quoted - $764 (includes all in costs)

I'm thinking this is high but I haven't negotiated down the payment yet until I know what numbers make sense. What should be the appropriate monthly lease amount?

I don't have those for September, but in August, they were the same as the lease residuals.

  • Michaell - I don't have the adjusted cap number handy but I listed the incentives and fees above.  the dealer gave me around 7.7% off the MSRP and $2K rebate and I believe a loyalty discount.

I don't know the tax rate - the dealer should be able (and willing) to share the adjusted cap cost. If they don't, could there be hidden fees?

  • Tax rate is 4.15% in VA. Based on the paperwork I saw, the negotiated price of the car is $52,830 (MSRP $57,985) Total rebate is $2750. The adjusted cap cost that I'm getting is $51,647.

With those numbers, I get $645/mo

You should ask what cap cost the dealer is using.

Anything longer than 36 months for BMW is not a good lease term - residual drops off dramatically.

At the moment, we don't have any numbers for terms other than 36 months.

  • Hi, for a 36/12 lease, what would the MF + residual be for a 430x Grand coupe in Illinois?
    Thanks!
