Hi - I am looking at leasing (12k/36 mos) a 2018 Q5 Premium Plus in the state of NJ. MSRP is $47,855 and I have negotiated a selling price of $42,000 including the $1,000 loyalty incentive I qualify for given that I am a current Audi owner. Assuming that I am NOT making any down payments/capital cost reduction and assuming that I purchase Audi Care, what would my monthly lease payment be if I only capitalize the sales tax?

Also, do you think there is more room to negotiate anything beyond the 12.2% discount the selling price represents (incl. the loyalty incentive)?

    Thanks!

    .00169 and 58%; add 1% for AudiCare

With the prices given, I get $501/mo before tax. If I cap the taxes ($1263), then the payment goes to $538/mo

12% discount on a new Audi is a strong amount; you can ask for more, but not likely to get it.

Hi. I am trying to see if I am getting a good deal on this 2018 Q5 lease. It’s a premium plus with msrp = $52,660. Also getting credit for Audi loyalty. 36 mo/15k miles a year lease. Upfront total cost is $2,500. Monthly payment is $650. This is without Audicare. Paying NJ sales tax

    Hello,

Can I please get the numbers for 2018 Q5 Premium and Premium Plus in Los Angeles, CA?

Is there anything to be mindful of in the math for adding packages (such as Convenience Package, etc.)? For example, does the 6% discount assumption apply to total MSRP including packages, or just to baseline MSRP. Trying to determine whether added packages can be negotiated down as well.

    Thanks.

Can you please provide the RV and MF for 2018 Q5 Prestige for 36 months, 15,000 miles? Zip code is 54911 in Wisconsin.

MSRP is $56,775. Dealer offered 3% discount initially and went to 4% when pressed. Salesman says they won't go lower because Prestige trims are difficult to get. They only have two and after these are gone, he wont' have anymore for a month. I understand 6% is the target discount. Should I press the dealer more?

Is it worth getting the AudiCare?

    Thank you!

I'd guess that Prestige trims are harder to sell, because of the higher price, lower residual, and much higher monthly cost. I'll also guess that if you wanted a Premium Plus trim, that the same argument would be applied, saying how popular they are, and that they can't discount them.

You don't have to press for a lower price, if you are happy with a higher payment.. ;)

Yes, AudiCare is a good deal. The price is $869, but it raises the residual by 1%, making your effective cost $301. That's cheap for three years of scheduled maintenance.

Visiting a dealership in a few hours. Would love to find out

-residual and MF for 36/10 Q5 Prestiege in California.
    - what’s the maximum dealership markup?
    -  is it common to get base MF?

    thanks so much again!

    56% is the 36/10 residual; it's 53% for 36/15

Base MF and a strong discount from sticker are both good.

I get $750/mo with the MSRP and adjusted cap as given.

    $692/mo with $2K up front.

    Michaell.

i meant 2k our of pocket expense and that includes everything. The offer I have on the table now is $735 with total 2k out of pocket. Take it or try to go lower?

does the residual make any difference? That’s what they gave me and it’s on paper.

    Yes, the residual matters.

You want the residual associated with the number of miles you think you'll need.

And, if it's wrong, the contract will be kicked back to the dealer.

What is your definition of "everything"?

I'd ask for a full accounting of that $2K; wouldn't want the dealer to slip in a junk fee in there.

I’m honestly asking for $700 monthly with the 2k out of pocket expense and he can figure out the Math. Your thoughts on the ask??

I'm not a fan of negotiating the payment - I find it's better to understand all the components of the deal.

You ask for $700/mo but learn afterward that you could have gotten $675/mo if you knew the details.

I have no idea what's realistic. I don't shop in that price range. I was just using it as an example of why I don't recommend shopping by payment only.

    Hello!

I went to the dealer in NY and got a quote for a 2018 Q5 Premium Plus. Here are the details:

    Term: 36/12K
    MSRP: 50,465
    Purchase Option: 29,269.70
    Monthly Payment: 593.87
    Disposition Fee: 495
    Acqusition Fee: 895
    Fees and Insurance: 187.50
    Upfront Taxes: 2,161
    Cap Reduction (Cash): 1,000
    Total Inception Fees: 4,837.37
    Rebate as Cap Reduction 1,000
    Total Drive Off: 5,837.37
Total Cash required on Delivery: 4,837.37

    So is residual here 58%?
    What's the MF?

I know I should not be paying MSRP, but is this a decent deal, as is? I've never leased before and can use any and all help. I'm not sure what I should be asking and what numbers to focus on. How do you ask the dealer to reduce the MSRP?

    Thanks

$1000 of your money + $1000 rebate going to CAP reduction.

    .00169 MF and 58% residual

To get that payment, the adjusted CAP is about $46,070. Since that includes $2000 of CAP reduction, that imputes a sale price of approx $48,070 (since all other amounts are being collected upfront).
That's assuming they are using the base money factor. That's about 4.75% off MSRP.

With that amount of disclosure, I'm sure they would give you the sale price, adjusted CAP and money factor used. It's not a bad deal on a Q5. But, it's not a cheap vehicle to lease, relative to MSRP.

But, I would definitely roll in the acquisition fee, and skip the $1000 CAP cost reduction.
That will raise the adjusted CAP by $1895, and the payment to about $650/mo.
But, it will drop the Due at Signing amount to around $3000.

    Upfront Taxes: 2,161
    Cap Reduction (Cash): 1,000

    Total Inception Fees: 4,837.37

But then it says after that:

    Rebate as Cap Reduction: 1,000
    Total Drive Off: 5,837.37

Total Cash Required on Delivery: 4,837.37

I'm not sure what the Cap Reduction (Cash) is vs. the Rebate as Cap Reduction.

The rebate as Cap Reduction is the $1000 returning customer rebate (We currently own a 2011 Q5).

So the quote they gave us is about 4.75% off MSRP. Is it reasonable to say that I can get another thousand or maybe even two off?

    Hello!

I went to the dealer in NY and got a quote for a 2018 Q5 Premium Plus. Here are the details:

    Term: 36/12K
    MSRP: 50,465
    Purchase Option: 29,269.70
    Monthly Payment: 593.87
    Disposition Fee: 495
    Acqusition Fee: 895
    Fees and Insurance: 187.50
    Upfront Taxes: 2,161
    Cap Reduction (Cash): 1,000
    Total Inception Fees: 4,837.37
    Rebate as Cap Reduction 1,000
    Total Drive Off: 5,837.37
Total Cash required on Delivery: 4,837.37

    So is residual here 58%?
    What's the MF?

I know I should not be paying MSRP, but is this a decent deal, as is? I've never leased before and can use any and all help. I'm not sure what I should be asking and what numbers to focus on. How do you ask the dealer to reduce the MSRP?

    Thanks

You politely tell them you want a price of "X", where X is 6% off MSRP, less any available incentives.

    .00169 MF

What is the full break down of the inception fees? We'd recommend you limit your up front cash to just the first payment and registration costs - add everything else into the lease payment.

What payment did the dealer quote?
    Here's the full break down:

    1st month payment: 593.87
    acquisition fee: 895
    fees and insurance:
    doc fee: 75
    registration: 90
    inspection: 10
    tire fee: 12.50
    Upfront Taxes: 2,161
    Cap Reduction (Cash): 1,000

    Total Inception Fees: 4,837.37

But then it says after that:

    Rebate as Cap Reduction: 1,000
    Total Drive Off: 5,837.37

Target 6% off MSRP, so maybe $500-750.

Proposed deal in nassau county, ny- tax is 8.625% in my area:

    Q5 Premium
    10k miles, 36 months

    MSRP is $44875
    Sell Price $38,783.06
    MF is .00169
    RV is 26,476
    $458 per month

    $3852.14 taxes/fees/first:
    8.625% sales tax is $1556.64
    $199 theft surety
    $75 doc
    $895 Bank
    $590 Admin
    $458 first
    $277.50 DMV

Will trade in a car for $4500 to pay for $3852.14 up front and receive check from dealer for rest.

Looks like a good deal to me but I'm looking to see if any of these fees are unnecessary. Theft Surety? DMV fees if I'm transferring plates? Admin fee?

    Thanks in advance!

This quote was from 4/2? The numbers have changed, as of today - .00155 and 57%

Our suggestion is to only pay the first payment and DMV costs up front - roll the taxes and fees into the cap cost.

The theft surety and admin fees look like junk; I'd challenge those, or negotiate a lower selling price to mitigate.

Need to know the selling price to comment.
