    Tax rate is 6% and everything is rolled into the payment. I was not given an adjusted cap cost. So at this point I do not know what other fees like acquisition or deal fees. But perhaps can work it backwards and estimate what they may be.

    OK, there are a few variables here, but let's see if we can back into the numbers.

    .00169 and 59% for 36/10 on Q5 Premium Plus

    With the MSRP and tax rates provided, the adjusted cap cost is in the neighborhood of $45,800 to get to $639/mo, tax included.

    So, with a selling price of $43,717, that's $2083 to bridge:

    $639 first payment
    $895 acquisition fee
    $549 doc fee (just a guess)

    However, if this is a $0 due at signing "sign and drive" lease, then I can't make the numbers work. Just so you know, $0 down is not the same as $0 due at signing. Is the dealer asking for any money when you sign the paperwork?

    Just got a quote on Audi premium plus MSRP at $50,350 and negotiated price at $47,400
    36 months/12K, MF at .00179 and residual at 58%. Upfront fees at $2500. Monthly quote at 690. Is that a good deal? Any hidden charges?

    .00169 is the base MF, so that is marked up a small amount.

    What state and tax rate is this?

    What is the breakdown of the $2500?

    That's a decent discount from sticker, for an Audi; might be a few hundred more you could shave off, if you wanted to push it.

    Hi Michael-

    I am new to this forum and I am new to leasing cars, so I wanted to check with you to see if the following was a decent deal:

    2018 Audi Q5, Premium Package + Navigation, 20" wheels, B&O sound, + small additional items with MSRP of $54,375

    I have a printout of their "blue screen" - it quotes cash sales price of $47,440. Chicago sales tax of $4541 and document fees of $176. My first question is how do they get the cash sales price? Looks like it's down 12.75% of MSPR, that's good right? But how did they come to the cash sales price?

    Our terms negotiated are $4650 cash down, $1000 rebate, 48 months, 10k miles/yr, $565 monthly payment which includes Audi Care, Ding Protection + Gap Insurance (valued at $2659 for those 3 additional items).

    Looks like our Res is 56%. Is this good for stats above?

    Let me know if there is anything else you need to understand if we are making a good decision?

    12% off sticker is a good price for any Audi.

    But, we don't recommend large down payments or ding protection. Gap insurance is standard with any Audi Financial Services lease, so no need to purchase it separately.

    We do recommend Audi Care, as it increases the residual by 1%.

    If you live in the city of Chicago, the lease taxes are gonna hurt. You'll have both the IL state tax as well as the city tax - something like 17% combined.

    Politely tell the dealer you won't sign a deal with an inflated MF; they know what the base rate is.

    Negotiate as much as you can off the sticker to mitigate the junk fees.

    Also, if you have another dealer close by, reach out to them; the competition between them for your business will get you the best price.

    I tried to speak to the dealer and was told that TAX of 3622 $ on vehicle is necessary and money factor of 0.00209. I am trying to negotiate and will keep you posted.

    Hello. I took a snapshot of the deal sheet. How does this look. It’s a prem plus with all the extras. They told me MF is .0028 I believe. 30 months no money at signing. Why are the discounts on separate lines?

    That discount is huge for a Q5. Almost unbelievable. I'd guess the "additional discount" is only available with the huge markup in money factor.

    .00169 is the base money factor for top tier credit. Anything additional is a dealer markup.
    Dealer Services and Phantom FP are garbage charges.

    Why a 30 month lease? The 36 month residual is just 3% lower and will result in a lower payment.
    What is the mileage allowance?

    However, you said your out the door price was $51,500 (it's 50,500 on the sheet). That would give me $919/mo.
    A 36 month lease with the same terms would be $844/mo vs. the $919/mo.

    All of those numbers are a lot for a $52K MSRP vehicle.

    I just got confirmation from the dealer that there was a large markup in the MF. They discounted the total cost and increased the MF to make up for it.

    Also they are telling me that the dealer services and Phantom are "required" to be in there by the dealership.

    At the end of the day if i get the MF back down to the standard .00169 is the rest a good deal?

    If you can preserve that big discount from sticker, getting the MF down to .00169 would be fantastic.

    Required? Only because they put those things onto every car that comes off the truck. Tell them to lower the selling price more to offset those garbage charges.

    1. MF is marked up from .00169
    2. TN taxes the monthly payment, so you can ignore the tax amount - that is for a purchase
    3. The phantom footprint and permaplate are junk fees, and are adding $30/mo to the payment.

    The one positive aspect of the quote is the 7% off sticker price.

    Politely tell the dealer you won't sign a deal with an inflated MF; they know what the base rate is.

    Negotiate as much as you can off the sticker to mitigate the junk fees.

    Also, if you have another dealer close by, reach out to them; the competition between them for your business will get you the best price.

    1. There is only one Dealer in my city for Audi:

    And this is the Lease info from the Dealer for Prestige


    and this is for Premium Plus :


    2. I tried to negotiate the MF , but here is the response from them : "you are absolutely correct that the wholesale rate is 0.00169. We are given the option from Audi to mark it up to 0.00294. We are only marking up the Money Factor by what is effectively 1 percentage point, which equals the 0.00209 that you were shown. Wholesale interest is 4.056%. Our retail rate is 5.016%. We feel that less than 1% markup is fair to our customers."

    3. I tried to (phone) contact another dealer , 3 Hrs drive away from my city . I was informed that , it will a monthly payment of 900 $ for zero down , inclusive of taxes for Prestige , where MSRP was $56,140. I am yet to receive the break down . I think I was told residual was 58% and MF was 0.00200 , I am yet to receive the email with break down from them tomorrow .

    1. Lack of competition does hurt you - good that you're looking at other dealers, anyway.
    2. So, they're only screwing you a little bit, not as much as they could. Nice of them to admit that. Lots of folks get the buy rate when leasing from Audi.
    3. While I agree with the math on the worksheet, there is more room to negotiate on the price. Generally, 6% off sticker is a good discount, but if they are marking up the MF, then I would target an even bigger discount to offset that.
    4. Sounds like the second dealer is already offering you a better deal on the Prestige. Higher MSRP, but a lower payment.
    5. The Premium Plus is the better buy, given the higher residual.

    [Venki]: This is what is disturbing me from signing the dotted line. On a monthly basis if I am paying amount too close to a buying a car on loan , it just doesn't make any sense for me to be leasing it at all. But being my first luxury car , i wanted to test the waters by leasing it. I am contemplating between GLC and Audi. I liked the steering feel / driving feel of Audi . I liked the ride quality of GLC very much but I didn't like the GLC Steering feedback at all, it felt dead . Also the old school mode of changing gears using a stalk under the steering is a turn-off. I am torn between these 2 , but will have to a make a decision in next 2 days and move on. Don't want to spend much time pondering over this, will have to close this quickly.

    Any expert advice of wisdom would be highly appreciated.

    [venki] : Definitely I will negotiate for better price. yesterday when was given this quote , I was told that Premium Plus will be 6 to 7 % off but for Prestige , it will be 5 %. Doesn't matter , i will still negotiate.

    [venki] : I am working with the second dealer to get the details today on a email as I cant drive 3 hrs only the quote. So waiting on them .

    [venki] : Premium Plus is enough. But hardly 50 $ difference in payment between Premium Plus and Prestige : And I am getting the fully features loaded for security and driver assistance , is the reason I am brought in Prestige in the picture.
