    The residual won't be different.
    Subaru dealers can mark up the money factor by .00050 over the base rate. If that happens, tell them you want the base rate.

    Received the following 1st offer on a 36 and 42 months lease - 10K year

    MSRP = 34,230
    Discount = 3,700
    Sale price = 30,530

    Net trade allowance = (2,208)
    Cash/rebates = 0.00

    Due at sign = 466.99 (1st pay $378, doc fee $195, dmv $89)

    Residual = $20,538

    Payment on 36 months lease with tax = $380
    Payment on 42 months lease with tax = $370

    Questions:
    Is there any room for improvement on the sale price of the car?
    Is the residual of 60% on 10k correct?
    Is the offer above fair? Not sure what is the average monthly pay on this model
    Is there any financial difference between the 36 and 42 months term? I would imagine the depreciation must be different.

    I have not discussed the net trade, which I think I can get at least 1,000 out of the current amount, but I would like to lock the sale’s price before moving to this piece of the negotiation. Money factor based on tier 1 and no additional amount at sign.

    60% is the 36/15 residual

    If you wait, the $2208 of negative equity should shrink, correct? That alone is adding over $60/mo (36 months) or over $50/mo (42 months)

    Michael, thanks for your response. About the RV, how do I negotiate the adjustment from 60% to 63%? The dealer will say that his number is correct and not negotiable. Just trying to be prepared for the discussion...is there any place that I can reference that RV that you provided?

    There is no negotiation on the residual - it is set by the bank.

    Tell the dealer about the term and mileage allowance you want - there may have been a simple misunderstanding.

    That is the max markup allowed. SMF won't be able to help you.

    Politely tell the dealer you won't sign if the MF is inflated. They know what the base rate is.

    Does $239.66/ month seem right for a 10k/36 lease with MSRP of $30393, sale price $27692 and down payment of $3840. 2018 Forester Black edition.  Dealer said MR was 0.14000036 and residual of 65%.  Duluth MN

    Not familiar with the Black edition
    Is it 2.5 or 2.0XT?
    Premium, Limited or Touring?
    Money factor are always five digits, at most, and start with a decimal point, then at least two zeroes.

    Is $3840 the total amount due at signing?
