    62% and .00075
    59% and .00090
    Thank you.

So for the 2018 Forester 2.5i CVT base (62% and .00075 for 36/12):

    MSRP: $24,710
    Purchase "ePrice" offered: $22,418
    RV: $15,320.20
    Payment: $197.16
    MF: $28.30
    Payment + interest: $225.46
    WI tax (.056%): $12.63
    Total payment: $238.09

That's for one local dealer. Waiting on pricing from 2 others--including the highest-volume Subaru dealer in the State of Wisconsin.

Anything else I might need to know?

I'm experienced with leases, but always have leased Hondas. CRV leases are no longer reasonable, so willing to go to Subaru for 36/12.

Can a dealer insist on hiking the MF by .0005, or is that something they might try to sneak in, but will relent if you call them on it?

And is $0 money down/$0 security deposit always an option with Subaru, with top-tier credit? Or can dealers demand a downpayment and a security deposit, regardless of one's sterling credit?

    Thank you!

Insist? No. They can try, and you can call them on it. You hold the ultimate authority - you can walk and work with a different dealer.

Demand? Again, no. You can structure the deal anyway you'd like.

    Right on. Understood, thank you.

If the "ePrice" for purchase is $22,418, then the dealer still gets that $22,418 from the finance company--no matter what the terms are at any given time for leasing, correct?

The dealership wasn't clear on that. The initial offer they made was $2k plus first month's payment due at signing with $325 monthly payments. After doing some research (including the MF and RV you provided-thank you) and using Edmunds' lease calculator, I'm coming up with $275 monthly payments if I put $2K down. I'd like to be at $300/month which seems to require putting only $1K down. It seems that they inflated the initial offer assuming I wasn't doing to dig into the details/payment formula like many people. I welcome any thoughts/guidance you have. Thanks very much!

Keep asking for information that you don't understand. Dealers count on folks not doing the research, which is how junk fees and the like can find their way into the deal.

We recommend only paying the first payment and any registration costs up front - add everything else into the lease payment.

Thank you, I'm basically demanding full transparency and that they "show all their math" that went into determining payments. Can you please define registration costs just to make sure I'm clear on those? Thanks again.

Registration costs vary from state to state - you can probably look it up on the state department of revenue or motor vehicle registration website.

Oh, gotcha. Sorry, I misunderstood. You meant actual vehicle registration costs. I looked and they should be about 175 over three years in NJ. I just emailed the dealership and let them know that I've done my homework (showed my math) and let them know that I'm only interested in striking a deal if they are willing to be transparent in how they are coming up with their numbers, which are of course higher than the ones I've come up with by using the Edmunds calculator. I'm getting replies like "I don't have any more room, I wish I did" but never with an explanation on how they are coming up with their numbers. Pretty typical. Seems like it's time to move on to the next dealership. Very frustrating.

Hi again, please see the below response from the dealer. I welcome any thoughts you have!

"The calculator we use is Arkona, from the company Dealertrack. Any calculator you are using is not disclosing to you the upfront fees and taxes that are not going to be residualized. My system, which is widely used in the industry would then give me two options, add to the sale price or get them from the customer."

Hi, how does the below deal on a Forester Limited look to you? Initial offer from my local dealer in central NJ (08840) with payments of $323/month. MF looks way off compared to what you cited earlier today. Thanks.

    MSRP 30,863

    "Sale Price" 28,400

Residual Value 59% with 39 month( better program)

    Money Factor.0006

    Tag fee/Title fee 299

    Doc fee 495

    Acquisition fee 595

    Taxes 819.18

    NJ tire Tax 7.50

also this is for 39 months and 36K miles

39 month numbers are different than 36 - .00060 and 59% for 39/12 are correct

How much is due at signing?
And, what does that $2000 cover?
Keep asking for information that you don't understand. Dealers count on folks not doing the research, which is how junk fees and the like can find their way into the deal.

We recommend only paying the first payment and any registration costs up front - add everything else into the lease payment.
Registration costs vary from state to state - you can probably look it up on the state department of revenue or motor vehicle registration website.

From my experience looking at quotes from NJ over the years, DMV costs tend to be around $300-350 for the three years of the lease.. collected upfront.
Their $299 looks to be in line with that.
Of course, the $495 doc fee is just money for the dealer. No value added for that.

The lessee is responsible for property taxes, either directly, or passed on from the bank.

Will be visiting the local Subaru this Saturday to finalize a lease.

Most recent reply in this forum from this current month (January 2018) for a 2018 Forester 2.5i base model with CVT in Southeastern Wisconsin (53092) for 36 months/12,000 miles, the numbers were:

    RV: 62%
    MF: .00075

Would you please confirm that these are still the current numbers for 36mo/12k?

    Thank you.

    Thank you!

Here's what I'm going in with, based upon your numbers and a negotiated purchase price of $22,118:

    MSRP: $24,710
    Purchase: $22,118
    Acquisition fee: $595
    Cap Cost: $22,713
    RV: $15,320.20
    Depreciation: $7,392.80
    Payment: $205.36
    MF: $28.52
    $233.88
    WI tax (5.6%): $13.10
    Total payment: $246.98

    Look solid?

Other than title, registration and "dealer doc fee"--all of which will be paid upfront--do you know of any other fees that might be required?

I thought I saw something on the Subaru website for a "Roadster Fee"...

It was my misunderstanding. That was some fee for using some website called "Roadster.com" for the lease, etc.

Is there someplace to see how good a price I'm getting on a Forrester? This forum appears to be solely for lease rates, and we're definitely going to purchase, not lease. Would just like a quick response as to whether the prices we're getting (Touring 2.5i Touring w/ Eyesight + Nav + Starlink, list $34,921, discount $2,932, final price with taxes, $499 dealer fee, $34,783) are decent or terrible. My apologies if this is the wrong place for this post! Thanks.

Sorry, there are simply too many makes and models for the moderators to keep track of selling prices for each.

You can read back through the last page or two of this thread to see what others have been able to negotiate for a selling price.

And, you can use the "make / model / year" pull downs at the top of the page to link to the price tools.

    Gents,

When you have it, could you post the rates for a 2.5i Touring, 2.5i Limited, and a 2.5i Premium, 36/10 in the Seattle area? I know the rates just changed over for Feb, so realize you may not have it yet.

    Thanks!
