I got this deal from an NJ dealer for 2018 Forester limited with eyesight, nav, harman kardon 36 months 12k/yr lease: MSRP: 33,615, selling : 31,225, Net Cap Cost: 33,109.51 for 383.94 with just 1st month payment out of pocket. Is it a good deal or too high? Are better deals expected during Thanks giving time compared to now?

With your prices, I get $368/mo.

The MF is likely marked up for extra profit. Politely tell them you won't sign a deal where the MF is inflated.

No predictions on what the deals will look like next month.

Nice. Well, it seems that the 2018 Subaru is offering the most bang for the buck vis-a-vis Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5.

We really wanted to hold out for a Honda, since that's who we are with now. Since the CR-V is still at .002, we took the 2018 HR-V out for a test spin, thinking it would have the MF of the 2017 HR-V. Solid little car, but about 3K over-priced. Combined with finding out the '18 HR-V MF being at .002, it becomes a no brainer. The HR-V is a step down in size *AND* quality from the CR-V. With a .002 MF, it makes lease payment almost the same for a crappy little HR-V compared to a '18 Forester Premium + packages. That difference in MF really can add up. Also supply seems a little looser on the Subaru, with trucar showing 6% discounts off MSRP, and dealer inventory check shows local dealers loaded up with Foresters.

Hello, I did some research for the Subaru forester xt touring which has a money factor of .00120 MF and 65% residual( From edmunds). However, when I was contacting the dealerships in the bay area, they say the bank sets it at 0.00140 MF and 64% which is non-negotiable. This could be a difference of almost 30 to 40 in monthly payments. Is the dealership right?

Not sure when or where you got your info, but the current numbers for the 2018 XT Touring are .00090 MF and 64% residual for 36/10.

Dealers can mark up the money factor by .00050 for extra profit. But, that markup is certainly negotiable. If that dealer won't negotiate it, then move on to the next one.

Dealers aren't allowed to modify the residual. Could be a different bank than Subaru Motor Finance.

Baring any last minute surprises, I have an agreed to price of $25300 on a forester premium with eyesight and all weather package, MSRP 28805 and will be signing on Saturday. I'm very pleased with this deal. Thanks so much to Michaell and kydfx for the info on the MF and residual it was spot on.

After negotiating the price of the car, i was able to then say I wanted to lease instead of purchase. They tried to restart the negotiations with a new cap cost, giving me some nonsense about not making any money on a lease, but once we got past that we were able to do a deal.

So for essentially $50 less in monthly payments than the base CR-V, I'm getting a tricked out Subaru , probably on par with the CR-V EX trim, which would have been over $150/mo difference with the subaru.

Too bad, we really liked honda, but I get the sense they hand out tier-1 like rock candy, and may have gotten burned by it.

As nice as the CR-V, they are still not leasing all that well, payment wise. Subaru is an excellent choice (and, I put my money where my mouth is - see my signature line)

Thanks Michaell. I confirmed with the Honda sales folks when I turned in my lease on the 2014 CR-VF. None of the models with high MF are leasing well. Guess Honda is still doing ok though that it makes sense for them to continue with high rates.

The dealer is CT based and priced the lease for NJ registration. They charge 350 for dmv fees for out of state registration and return the amount if fees is less than 350. I feel they are double counting in dues at inception and also in cap cost but not sure. Is it a good deal in your opinion? Greatly appreciate your help.

I get the same $383/mo. with that CAP.
I'd want to know the breakdown of the $1992 they added to the selling price to get the Net CAP. NJ Tax, $595 acquisition fee, CT dealer/conveyance fee. Ask for the numbers.

Otherwise, it looks good.

Are they counting $350 twice here or maybe not as they reduced the cap by 350? Do you think I can get a better deal than this one or should I take this one?

Looks like they added the $350 into the CAP for the fees, then listed your $350 upfront as CAP reduction. It works the same, either way.

I don't shop for Foresters, so I can't tell you what's possible. That's a pretty good deal, though.
