When leasing a loaner/demo, I understand the residual will be lower by a percent on 10k/36 but wouldn’t that make the lease payment be more?

It's not a 1 percent difference, it's based on the amount of miles.

Your reasoning is correct that all things being equal, a lower residual will result in a higher payment. But, you are also negotiating a selling price. The selling prices shouldn't be equal. The loaner should come with a much, much lower price, more than enough to make up for the lower residual. Otherwise, it wouldn't be worth it.

Okay. How would the residual be adjusted for miles, 1k, 2k etc? What would be a good starting point for % off the listed price of the vehicle?

    PS thanks for the help.

As long as the car has under 5000 miles, residual is reduced by $0.25/mile

12%-15% off MSRP (or more) for a loaner.

Hello, I'd be grateful for the MF, residual and incentive information for a FWD and AWD 2018 X1 for zip code 94549 and 36/10. Thank you very much in advance.

2018 x1 new msrp 42605. Selling price is 39005. 4000 in rebates. 36/10 54 percent .00182 mf. Paying taxes upfront 8.875% but rolling in acquisition (925) and disposition of Toyota lease (350) payment is 477 a month in zip 11106. What you guys think? Not sure if sales price has more room it’s over 8 percent off msrp before rebates

    I get the same payment.

Only way to improve it is to get a lower selling price

Only way to do that is to ask the dealer for it. Won't know if you don't ask.

This may not be the right place to ask. My current lease ends in about 3 months and I just banged up my passenger side doors pretty badly. I have lease protection. Does it cover this type of damages? If not, can I fix it at a body shop or have to go through the dealer? Thank you!!

We don't have any information about your lease protection. I'd contact the provider.

You definitely don't have to use the dealer for repair.

What do you guys think of this deal?

2018 X1 SDrive MSport.  This is includes the last 2 payments on my current lease.  And yes I know all you are going to tell me I should just wait 2 more months.

Missing several numbers but generally how does this look?

So why are you asking for our opinion if you know what we're gonna say?

    The $1177 adds about $33/mo.

Waiting 60 days will save you that money.

    What ZIP code?

Payment looks about right, assuming base MF and with $3000 the total amount Due at Signing.

The residual is pretty low on the X1, making for a not-so-great lease deal.

Unfortunately, we've lost access to the lease credit.

Hello all, I'm looking for similar information posted for other ZIP codes. In particular, would like info on MF/Residual and any incentives for a 2018 X1 xDrive 28i in 63011 for 36/12. Vehicle is a service loaner if that changes the lease numbers, however I'll of course be asking for a larger discount from MSRP given the vehicle's use. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am new to this forum. Could you please advise on appropriate monthly payments for the following BMWs being purchase in the Boston, MA area:

    2018 BMW X1 xDrive28i MSRP $42,145 + destination charge $995
    2018 BMW X1 xDrive28i MSRP $43,040 + destination charge $995

I plan to do 10k miles/year, but also might do 12k miles. I will be giving the minimum upfront payment unless there is a benefit to giving more (other than artificially reducing the monthly payment).

I was told there is a minimum upfront payment of $2,140.17 that includes first month, acquisition fees, registration, title, and documentation fees. I don't know how to determine if that number is accurate or negotiable.

I currently have a BMW 3 series that has a lease ending in March in case that changes incentives or anything else I should be considering.

What things should I be trying to negotiate to bring the monthly payment down?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

The only quibble I would have with their "required" upfront is the $925 acquisition fee. You can certainly roll that in to the CAP cost. If you are in MA, you can typically expect a $400-$600 dealer fee.

No, there is no benefit to making an extra down payment.

MSRPs always include destination, so don't break that out.

    36/12
    .00188 MF and 53% residual
    $3000 lease credit.

MSRPs always include destination, so don't break that out.

We can't give you a payment, without knowing the selling price you negotiate.
I am being given the following numbers:

    2018 BMW X1 xDrive28i MSRP $42,145 + destination charge $995

Sales price will be $40,500 before loyalty and rebates (I am told it is $4000), not including destination charge.
    I will be doing 36/12.
Residual is 53% but MF is .00208 (higher than quoted above - why?)

As mentioned before, I was told there is a minimum upfront payment of $2,140.17 that includes first month, acquisition fees, registration, title, and documentation fees.

How do I figure out how much the monthly payment would be?

Also, I can give up to 7 security deposits, which I have been told can save interest and actually be a good idea. Thoughts? Should I do 7? How do I figure out if it is worth it?

    Thanks!

Hi, I am new to this forum. Could you please advise on appropriate monthly payments for the following BMWs being purchase in the Boston, MA area:

    2018 BMW X1 xDrive28i MSRP $42,145 + destination charge $995

Yes, loyalty is an extra $1000.

You really should stop breaking out the destination. It's part of the MSRP, and it's part of any sale price. If the dealership is breaking it out, you should ask them to stop. It only leads to confusion.

The $2140 upfront? You find out if it's legit, by asking them to break it down by it's components.
Also, they can't calculate that amount including first payment, without knowing the first payment.
So, what is the quoted payment?

The money factor is marked up to provide extra revenue for the dealer.
$1645 discount from MSRP is not very much, especially for an outgoing 2018 model.

7 security deposits would lower the money factor by .00035. Each deposit is the monthly payment, rounded up to the next $50 increment. In general, it's worth it, if you have that money in a savings or checking account, earning little interest. But, I certainly wouldn't give them money to lower the money factor, until they agreed on the base MF to start with.

    I'm down to the following:

    2018 x1 with MSRP of $42,395.00

Lease would be $484.62/month with upfront fees of $2102.93 at 36/12.
With 7 security deposits it would be $463.25/month with a total amount of $5581.56 upfront ($3500 SD+fees),
Base money factor is now 0.00188 before security deposits.
    Rebates and incentives of $4000.
Based on $39,000 selling price ($3395 below MSRP).

Does this sound like a good deal? Thanks!

    6.25% sales tax rate, right?
I get the same calculated payment.

Almost 8% off MSRP, minus incentives
    Base money factor.

    It looks good.
7.3% annual after-tax return on your $3500, if you do the MSDs.

    I'm looking at a loaner 2018 BMW X1 sDrive28i with 1800 miles in 28203. Quote I received was $454 at 36/10 w/ $650 due at signing.

    MSRP $35,890
    Sale Price: $32, 500
    Rebate ($3,000)

    Residual – 54% or $18,955.60

How would you rate? You think $350-$380 is feasible?

    Many thanks!

Ask for the adjusted CAP cost and the money factor used. With the numbers you've given, I would expect a lower payment. You might have $1500-$2000 more room to come down on the sale price. $2000 less would put you around $400/mo., with the rest of the deal, as is.

Okay, now I get the same payment.
$2000 more off, with that same money factor (marked up from .00188), will drop the payment to $394/mo.

I think that's feasible. I don't know if you can get down to $350-$380.

Considering they are at $454 now, it might be tough, though.
