I am looking for 12k or 15k miles. 33 or 36 months. The dealer is not ready to provide me a quote and let me walk out of the door. He says I don't want you to shop around. I find that strange.

    33/15 - .00079 and 62%
    36/15 - .00085 and 59%
    Add 2% for 12K
    $260 lease cash

Of course they don't want you to shop the quote they give you, for fear that they'll lose the business over a small amount of money.

Thanks Michael. This is helpful. What do you mean by add 2% and what is lease cash. I am leasing for the first time so new at this.

So here is the quote I got for 33month lease. I am assuming it's 15k.

    62% residual
    0.0079 MF
$41,103 cap cost (excluding fees and sales tax, which he said will be minimal on a lease)
    $449 per month lease payment.

Is the calculation right? Also is this a good deal? I feel like the cap cost is a little high? Let me know what you think

Add 2% just means add 2% to the residual value.. so 62% +2% is 64% residual on a 12k lease same for 59% become 61%. The car will have a higher residual value because you are putting less miles on the car thus it is predicted to be worth more when you turn it in.

MSRP is 43,545, so cap cost seems high to me based on Truecar estimates. Confirmed with dealer and he says these lease numbers are for a 10k / 33m lease. What are the correct. Numbers for this mileage?

    I get about $443/mo, for 33/10
    $482/mo. for 33/15.

Your information from the dealer seems to be incomplete.

Ask them to lay out all of the numbers. Term? Mileage? Monthly payment? Total amount due at signing?
"he said would be minimal" is not a good answer.. ;)

For Mazda, it's a consumer rebate that is applied as a CAP cost reduction.

Add 2% to the 15K/yr numbers for 12K/yr residuals

Thanks! Working with a dealer on a 33/10 lease:
    MSRP: $43510
    Selling: $38934
    Drive off: ~$950 (1st mo + fees)
    Monthly: $399 + tax

Still getting more info on what rebates were added, but do you think the selling cost is good? Appreciate the help!

$260 lease cash on this model.
Looks like $38934 might be the adjusted CAP cost, as I get $376/mo.+tax with that number.

That looks really good. Might want to grab it.

I totally agree. This dealer is fishy. He was not willing to even give me quote unless I commit to not shopping around and getting the deal done in his office. That was absurd. I am going to try one more time with him and then may be go-to someone else. I want the deal that xcraft got.

    MF: 00079%
    RV: 65% for 10k, 64% for 12k

$399 was for 10k, add $20 for 12k. Not sure if they're marking up for extra mileage. Is this normal?

Nope, 0 down. Also I don't have "all" the info like which incentives are included. I basically gave him a monthly lease budget I was trying to target which was $400 inlc. tax. So far the selling price seems good enough to me - it's in the Great price range on Truecar if that's worth anything. I'm going to pull the trigger today. We'll see if they honor it.

Good luck with your deal. DM if you need more info.

Eh.. not sure why my blockquotes are broken.

Can I get a comment on the below lease numbers? This is for a 2018 Grand Touring AWD in Maryland:

    MSRP: 43,710
Purchase Price (including $500 Owner Loyalty rebate): 38,310
Cap Cost (all in, with tax and tags, $0 down): 41,397

    Lease Terms
    15K miles per year
    - for 33 months: $562/mo, 62% residual (27,120)
    - for 36 months: $559/mo, 59% residual (25,790)

I thought the negotiated purchase price looks pretty good, but the monthly payments are higher than I expected.

    Thank you!

Claims he’s using the following money factors:

    33 month: .00079
    36 month: .00085

When I pressed says they base the residual calculation on MSRP, not the negotiated purchase price. Is that how leases are calculated?

    Yes.. that's how it's calculated.

Again, verify the adjusted CAP cost. I think you'll find it's different from $41,397 or you have the MSRP wrong.
Those are the only two explanations, if they are using the base money factor and correct residual

I am going to the dealer tomorrow. Let me know if your dealer honored it. I got a similarly good deal on a fird explorer a couple of weeks ago and then dealer backed out in two days. So I am curious to see what your dealer does. Also can you confirm that the 38,934 is the adjusted cap cost, and not the purchase price?

    Thanks,

    12K/yr. Add 1% for 10K

    33/12: .00079 MF and 58% residual
    36/12: .00085 MF and 55% residual

GT residuals are 6% higher. I'd have a hard time making the case for leasing a Signature model, under any circumstance.

Hello. Can you please provide the MF and RV for a FWD Touring (33/12k). Zip code is 92606.

    Thank you so much!

    12K/yr. Add 1% for 10K

    33/12: .00079 MF and 58% residual
    36/12: .00085 MF and 55% residual

GT residuals are 6% higher. I'd have a hard time making the case for leasing a Signature model, under any circumstance.

    Ouch.

Talk about a poorly designed marketing plan.

The CX-9 could have been Mazda's segway into getting the premium class buyer to try out their brand.

With a 6% differential in residual and a $2K price difference, we are talking $150 difference in the lease payments.

So the whole point of getting premium brand feeling with Mazda value is lost.

(blockquotes are messed up. ended up removing it)

@goirishnd Adjusted cap cost turned out to be 39700. Sales guy fumbled with the numbers I wasn't too happy about that, but they still kept he monthly at $429 with tax. Probably could've been lower but I didn't care at that point. Hope that helps.

So my deal was 2018 GT AWD Machine Grey. $43510 msrp, 39700 adjust cap cost. ~950 signing including 1st month. $429/mo incl. tax. Hope this helps anyone else negotiating. My tax rate is 8.5.

Also shout out to @kyfdx for the help and responding so quickly!

Most people would consider the GT a premium vehicle. ;)

I was wondering what the MF and residuals are in upstate NY for CX-9 Grand Touring AWD 10k a year for 33 or 36 months.

    those are quite good, thanks!

If the dealer that I go to provides some different numbers, where are you getting these from?
