This summer when you go on demo rides and sweat in the heat while doing walkarounds.
I will be inside my very chilly and beautiful office sitting in my Recaro chair watching my video screens of the lot/showrooms/closing booths/ and F&I while sipping on a latte(that a beautiful tanned goodess just made for me) while wearing calfskin driving shoes and a sweater. :shades:
Yeah, probably those neglected by their owners. They are bullet proof but not no maintenance proof. I don't do walk arounds on the pavement. I take them to our indoor a/c delivery area and show the car there. I've been doing this for a while. I can tell you where every car is in our inventory. I walk the inventory every day like a good salesman should. I'm not one of these fng's that walk all over the lot looking for a car that they don't even know the model number of. Not only fng's but quite a few "vets" do that. Makes me laugh. :shades:
Mack the only reason i bust your balls is because i know Toyondasan salepeople bust their balls and make bupkis.
The owners of Toyota stores have to fuQW you on the pack because they owe and need to pay the bluesky note or they are tight bastards that wont sell for big bluesky so they triple net everything out and even pack the pens and paper. :lemon:
A mini at my store used is 300 and new 500 :shades: but dont ask about the pack because it starts at 3000 and goes up to 10000 :shades:
Too many fireworks, too many adult beverages last night. Feeling a bit "fuzzy". I think I gave my phone # to a cute blond who seemed a bit psycho cause there's 7 female voice mail messages on my phone asking me for directions to my house.
And NO, I wasn't driving in such a condition!
I'll probably be the only one here today as it's going to take me 3-4 hours to recoup, and then start all over again.
deskman.....it's hard for me to understand how anyone would go full boat on any Chrysler product right now (possible exception would be the Challenger). I'd think it would be a struggle just to get someone into a Chryco showroom. Is the $2.99 gas promo that enticing?
How uninformed are your customers that you get that many laydowns? How much margin can you possibly choke out of a PT Cruiser? How long will it take for Dodge to go the same way Plymouth went? How much add-on "bling" does it take to move a 300? My local dealer is still flogging 2007 Crossfires, trying to move them.
No slight meant regarding the products you're selling. Neither myself, nor anyone I know, would even consider a Chrysler product right now. Do you work for Towbin?
Mack, you've been here on these boards an awfully long time....probably as long as I have...and I think I signed up here 10+ years ago. Craig is the only one who might have tenure on us. Anyway, it's clear you are a true professional who takes pride in his work. Aside from your penchant to start, and rarely finish, sales stories, I always enjoy your posts. If you aren't being treated fairly, move on. I don't have to tell you that, though.
Maybe go the way madmanmoo went and hook on with a high line dealership?
Regarding doing service work....I cut my mechanical aptitude teeth on a '69 MGB-GT. If I wasn't busting knuckles at least every weekend to keep that sled on the road, it would sit idle. I've done a couple of engine rebuilds on Mustangs with 302s in them.
Today however, I'd be scared to yank out a PCM for fear of sending any of my cars into electrical oblivion. Hell, my 3 doesn't even have a dipstick to check the oil.
GG, just make sure your new friend isn't working with Chris Hanson!
Happy Birthday, USA!

"...How about building a vehicle that the transmission will not fail after the warranty expires..."
Proud owner of 1997 Chrysler Cirrus 104K miles. No transmission issues. Fluid changed every 40K miles.
Funny that Chrysler has a reputation for funky transmissions. Back in the day (1960s) their transmissions were the envy of the industry. Then it was Ford who was known for tranny failures.
I beat my 1969 Plymouth to death and did some pretty foolish things to the transmission (drop patching, throwing it in reverse at 30mph. etc.) It didn't fail until well after 100K miles and then I drove it around with one gear missing for weeks.
As for the power seat, my Chrysler has 8-way function including seat back. Have they done away with that on the newer stuff? Dumb move if they did.

I am lucky have a very stable market place here is south florida. For some reason in my area people always have cash :surprise: it is almost like they have cash under the bed or buried in the yard :surprise:
Yes Challenger is hot right now and should be for the next few years. The srt chargers, vipers ,300 ,caliber ,crossfire and grand cherokee sell well.
New Chrysler cars and trucks (ex gas 1500 thru 3500 ) still bring sticker - rebate but volume is down.
No I dont work for towbin. wrong state. plus they could not afford me they are smallplayers.
Neither myself, nor anyone I know, would even consider a Chrysler product right now.

Thank you. I might have a few stories hanging, but for the most part I do finish them. Now if someone can refresh my memory on which ones are still unfinished I will get to them today! :shades:
I have rams traded in with 500,000 miles every week :shades:
Caravans go 300,000 before they need any real attention.
charger ,300 and challenger are based on E class mercedes platform which everyone know to be good for 500,000 + miles . just ask a german taxi driver :shades:
The Front wheel drive Chryslers are good for 250,000 to 350,000 miles
I know i see a bunch imports and north american cars that are beat before 100,000 miles and owned by dummys that think you should only lift the hood when a red or yellow light comes on
Now if someone can refresh my memory on which ones are still unfinished I will get to them today!
Here's a hint... Just think of any story you have told and just tell the ending. There is a 80% chance that you'll finish a story we haven't heard yet. :P
Yep, that's the way they sell them and God forbid if you have a passenger power seat also. My cousin Gabriel traded a 300m in for a pre-owned Infinity qx56. The Chrysler sat on the lot for months until some poor sucker bought it. I like the styling, kind of looks like a gangster car from the early 1900's but once you get in it it's not that inviting. I felt claustrophobic in it. Visibility is terrible. Sorry Dkman just don't like Chryslers, I would take a Chevy Malibu or Impala of Ford Fusion over Chrysler any day.
Deskman, you're hilarious with your stories.. I try to convince my old Honda buddies to come and work for us, but they're pretty stubborn.
I've been here for 8 months in a Chrysler store and wouldn't think twice of going back to Honda.
Why do double the work for half the money?
Plus you move up the ladder faster (at least where I'm at). Managers are pretty laid back but reward you big time if you put in a good effort and get results.
Harbour, labour. Just curious deskman, what part of the British Commonwealth do you hail from ? Hotter than the 4th of July here in Texas. Oh wait, it is the 4th of July.
In honour of the BBQ
The time to hesitate is through No time to wallow in the mire Try now we can only lose And our love become a funeral pyre
Since I worked in both, I can tell you the sales skills in domestics are way up there.
I think it has to do with the different type of buyer as well. Honda buyers for example would come in and know everything there was to know about whatever they were interested in. All you had to do is match or beat a price they got from a dealer 10 minutes away. That's where your gross went........
Then you had to deal with the huge packs on all the vehicles, taking out whatever little gross there was to begin with.
Many times as well Honda had "consumer cash" which they advertised ($2k for example) with half of it coming from your gross. Why should I as a salesperson contribute out of my own pocket for someone to drive my product? Didn't make sense.....
Right now I talk to guys I worked with before at Honda and they're making less dough than I am with them having double the volume.
I still think Honda and Toyota make great products, but are they so great that they warrant a $5k to $10k price premium over a domestic product?
I just like it better where I am at now. I don't run around like crazy trying to please everyone who wants just a test drive to see how a Hybrid feels like, or to educate them about a Hybrid, only to lose a deal to a lowball dealer a few blocks away.
And because I get bored really fast, I like the product range that Chrysler offers. 3 brands, 25+ model lines, with a price range from entry level to high end. Couldn't be happier right now.
Well in honour of your Father, I will drink a mojito and in honour of your mother I will eat some haggis.Stop! Strike that last comment. In honour of your Mom I will drink a whiskey instead. No kosher haggis so I slipped out of that one easy.
Sadly not a decent place to get a cubano in the city.Tex-Mex aplenty. A few Cuban restaurants but they can't get the bread right.
Well, I went home with the waitress The way I always do How was I to know She was with the Russians, too
"Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose..."
I have owned Chryslers (Intrepid & 300M). I have owned Japanese (Acuras, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Honda...). Sorry, but the build quality and reliability clearly, to me, go to the land of the Rising Sun.
"There is a house in New Orleans..."
But, the Intrepid was a modern, stylish ok car. Loved my 300M, that was the car that really brought me to thinkin' about the domestics again. But the current crop o' Pentastars, not much for me. Not because of perceived quality/reliability. Just the menu of products at the moment. Could change, maybe a new Crossfire 'vert this winter for ~$20k?

Mack can you get me in a solara for those types of numbers ? and we all know beforehand that a solacamcord  :lemon: is so much better than a slk/crossfire :shades:
Ha! You have been to the Galleria area. I see you didn't waste your time shopping. Ol Anna Nicole got her start there, at Rick's iirc.It was love at first sight when they wheeled in E. Howard Marshall. I'm on the nw side. Pappasito's has great food. Owned by a Greek family, Pappas, they have different style of cuisine restaurants all over the city. All of them good.
Lifetime warranties are great. Unless it refers to the "lifetime" left until the company goes chapter 11. One to two years tops. Your dealership may be showing "profits" but if chrysler doesn't, you have nothing to sell.
We're taking a short recess here, folks. I hope that whatever has motivated some of the recent postings of "lesser quality" will have worn off by the time we resume. Go enjoy the rest of your holiday.
BOOM! The second new post. Still sounds like the 4th of July. Speaking of explosions, I thought tidester had dropped the big one. Glad to see this discussion reopened within a short period of time.
Speaking of Chrysler being a possible dud financially. An article in business section in todays paper spoke of their problems with cash reserves. JP Morgan writing if Chrysler not careful will be depleted within 6 months. This seems to run contrary to what deskman has been saying about Chrysler and it's bountiful supply of cash.. Ford a little better, GM in decent shape.
Why are three day weekends shorter than the normal two day?
I was thinking of doing the "Automile" this weekend. But, gas went up another 4 cents on Friday and I didn't see enough (any!) ads noting free food and drink...
