Her solutions for the lint is to get seat covers or aftermarket leather ($1000 for front and rear seats). The ride height solution is to drop the car 2 inches with sportier springs (although it will be stiffer),
Great ideas boom. $1000 bucks to get seat covers put on...or buy a lint brush for $2.
She can get those things that make the car go up and down that the kids have. She can raise or lower it when she wants since she can't decide anything anyway.
"...Do you remember the Ford sedan that Barney purchased from the little old lady?..."
I'm assuming that you're talking about Barney Fife of Mayberry who got the car with sawdust in the transmission. Barney Rubble got stuck with a car he bought from Fred Flintstone (bad brakes, had to stop with his feet) and Barney the dinosaur doesn't drive ever since he got that DUI.

First they have the bad press from the "killer floormats" which has required them to shorten all their gas pedals.
Now I just heard about rust problems on their trucks that make the spare tire fall off.
I shouldn't be surprised to hear about rust problems, my Toyota truck was a terrible rust bucket. I would have thought they had that problem fixed after 20+ years. :lemon:

Well, I do agree with isell, if she's willing to take the hit, the time is now. Still, to me it's totally ridiculous to do so, The CR-V is a nice vehicle. It hit all her wants (at least her wants at the time she purchased it). It was bought right.
jipster, richard, boom, explorer, driver, houdini, et al, I'm not going anywhere near any sort of deal she wants to make on something else.
If I did, I can just hear the lamenting 3 months down the road....
"This car doesn't sit up high enough." "The carpets get dirty". "The steering wheel isn't round enough." "Why did I lose so much money?" "The cupholders can't fit a 'big gulp'."
I think she wants me to explore what kind of deal she can get on an Accord or Civic.
Nope....not touching it....wouldn't be prudent.
Would love to hear her former spouse's experiences, but really don't want to hear that, either.
My Dad is like that. He would tell me that even though an advertised special had ended that the dealership could still offer the same price. He also would just assume that he could get 20% off just about any car.
I tried telling him many times that the Manufacturer offers some of the incentive monies & when they are gone, they're gone - but he doesn't listen.
I think you have hit the nail on the head here. Sounds like she has her cap set for ol' GG. and just wants him to be around when she needs him. Next thing you know she'll want him to come over and take a look at her, er, washing machine.
I feel like I've tuned into the Oprah show with all this psychology of relationships being dissected here!
Poor graphicguy needs to start discussing his fees before all these buyer friends take advantage of his skills. "There will be a $500 charge for helping you secure the lowest price on the vehicle of your choosing..."
To stay on topic.... when you are out shopping for your turkey and the trimmings, swing by an auto showroom and have a look. You never know what might catch your eyes and they may even have "Black Friday" specials on them.
Is black Friday a busy day at the dealerships? My Grandfather is looking to replace his '04 Grand Marquis and the local FLM dealer has a few cars I want to show him and was thinking about doing it Friday, however, if its usually a busy day I'll just take him one night next week.
Black Friday brings out all the married men whose wives are at the mall. They kick tires, take demo drives, engage in conversation and drive off never to be seen or heard from again. It is our day to baby sit grown men.
I just read recently that statistically the best deals to be had in any given year are on black friday. The theory is that everyone is out in the stores and no one (except lr's tire kicking guys) is at the dealerships.
Beware - this no doubt means jipster will be out looking....
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

you may recall I was helping a distant almost-relative shop for a TSX (as it ended up being) back when GG was doing the CR-V (I obviously have wealthier clients!)
anyway, saw our common relative today, and got my reward. A nice card, and a bottle of Beefeaters in a snappy souvenier tin that looks like an english phone both.
I got excited for a moment; then I saw the canvas top remark. Still, we could remove the top and paint the car black, I'm thinking about getting one as a beater. I bet that I could get one in pretty good shape that is around 5 years old with about 80k on it.
I hope that all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We're headed to the mountains in the morning to see Biltmore at Christmas. I'll check in Sunday when we return. I hope that Black Friday is good to all of my poster friends here.
Never heard or experienced that. Usually where I have worked dealerships are a place for husbands and kids to kick tires and pass time while wives shopped. Hope everybody has a great family day of thanks.
According to the news it should be. I heard a story yesterday that said car prices drop to 7-8% off MSRP on BF vs. 4-5% off on a regular day.
Maybe we heard the same news. I'm beginning to wonder about some of the biz guys here. Are they really in the biz or are they here for the dialect? :confuse: I can understand guys not wanting to accompany their wives at the mall but if they're really car guys like me they'd be in the garage giving their beauty one last wax job before it gets too cold.
Anyway, Happy Bird Day to all even the imposters and our Canadian friends (although I'm a bit late on this).

Maybe the way some stores convert the tire-kickers into buyers is to sweeten the deal.
I bet that is how those cars get bought for "the wife" as Christmas presents.

My first wife always wanted a 911 C4 Cabriolet. So one Christmas I went out on a limb and bought her one. found it at Sam's Club - 10" long, made to exact scale and a gorgeous black on black. I still wonder why she was my first wife. :confuse:
a gorgeous black on black. I still wonder why she was my first wife
I hope you learned your lesson. I wouldn't try that again! I once heard don't buy your wife anything with a cord...that is a rule I try to follow. I think miniature anything, a cheap substitute, and plastic models should also be made into a rule.
Since it is a slow day around here, would this gas pedal put anyone off buying a Toyota? Toyota Canada says they use different floor mats in their cars made here, so it isn't a problem (except the Venza model). I don't know if I would believe that.
I would question the floor mat claim that it is different for Canada. I know all our North American cars are th same. Also, I do not believe the issue will cost them a vast amount of customers and the fear of that may lead to some better deals for the consumer.
in for it's free oil change and to get the tires rotated. there were 3 new SHO's on the sales side of the building (silver, red, black). i was going to take a look at them after paying my bill, but when i went to cash out, it turns out they didn't rotate the tires. i headed back to service and the service writer mumbled something about the the tires being checked and they were ok, and then they weren't due to be done yet, but i was firm, although polite, that i was willing wait to and i wanted the job done. he ended up not charging me for the job, although i said i would pay, and said it would be done again for no charge next time. while waiting there was a lady getting the oil changed in her F350 turbo diesel. it's a $100 job. she said she would be in next week to get the fuel filters changed, a $185 job. she mentioned to the service writer that her other cars got free oil changes. he said, yeah, but not the diesel trucks. there was a board on the wall about the 'owner advantage' program, every 5th oil change free and 5% put into an account or taken off every bill. the sign said every model. at one point, the lady and i started talking, she asked me if i liked the book i was reading. after a few minutes, i pointed out the sign to her and told her to asked the service writer about it. when he came back, she asked and he said, sure your truck is eligible, you just have to ask. :confuse: anyways, she's a pretty happy camper, now. i had lost my interest in looking at the SHO's by then.

Those are two very popular books and authors. Good choices! The Taurus, mmmm not so sure...no just joking. I think Ford did a gutsy thing, they made a Chrysler 300 only newer, bigger, more advanced, more of everything...and there should be a market for a well made large car. I think the extra height will impress baby boomers who can't get into low slung cars. Ford has some impressive cars on the market. Just read a review comparing the 3 muscle cars on the market. The Mustang came out as #1, which says a lot, when you compare it to the new much talked about Camaro.

I know the history of the car so I'm comfortable with a long distance purchase. If I win the auction I will have to move quick and flip the Mazdaspeed. Stay tuned...

OF50, Buying online on Ebay motors can be a very good deal. Just need to some research on the seller`s feedback, ratings and reviews. These sellers are huge dealers who sell hundreds or even thousands of cars online on ebay and also get a 99% and above rating .. And in case the car is not as represented , you file a dispute with ebay and the seller pays your amount back--only thing is you pay the shipping. :shades:
I got a Lexus GX and a Camry online from Ebay. The Lexus GX was a a 3yr old silver colored, fully loaded with every option and feature and only had 30k miles and it was as good as new- You could not tell it was a preowned one till you looked at the odometer. The Camry was a 2 year old with about 25k miles. The Lexus GX - I got it for around 27k-- a new GX with the same options can easily top $65k..So , it was a heck of a deal..
I must say,Ebay motors has revolutionized car shopping and for me it has changed the way I shop for cars. It [Online buying] is definitely the future of car purchases and car shopping !! :P
