so Honda is holding firm in January with Standard MF on leases with a sluggish sedan market? I thought they were going to really push the new Accord aggressively... they already appear not to be selling, lots of them OTG... I guess they stubbornly think this is a CRV and can act (and think) like it is !

I signed tonight. 36m/12k lease on an Accord Sport 1.5L T CVT $279 plus tax, comes to $300 after tax here in CA. $2249 covered all fees, license, etc. Dealer called me and told me he had a new $500 incentive to cover the protection package (rubber trunk liner, wheel locks, mud guards) that I refused to pay for so I headed over.. I really love this bright red color with the darkened grill both only found on the sport trim.

To me that's pretty expensive for a Honda sport... reason being is that I have a 2016 Honda sport that put $400 out of pocket and $225 a month!!!

I'm at $235 a month if you factor the out of pocket into the monthly....it's a 39/10k

When it's time for the next lease on a new Honda sport there is no wayyyy I will be laying anything more than $250 a month!!! That's the only way they will be getting me into a new Honda sport....if not I'm going for the Toyota see XSE!!!

What do you mean by lease from a non-Honda dealer?
Do you mean leasing through an independent bank? Even if you do that, the car still comes from a dealer.

An independent bank doesn't have any restrictions on rates or residuals. Only in NY do we see people leasing through independents or credit unions. I'd avoid it.

They told me I can lease with Honda's bank but it would be more money, and if I used a credit union, they want less. They are telling me the Residual is 60%. Who sets the residual? The bank or Honda? I assume PAL is a broker working with a local Honda dealer. Earlier you asked about what is negotiable and what can be a gotcha. On a non-HFS lease, everything is negotiable. On a lease that means residual %, money factor, acquisition fee and of course selling price, DMV and the notorious doc fee. It's a lot more work for the buyer.

PAL has an acq fee of $895 (vice 595 for HFS); perhaps that is one source of profit for them.

Isn't invoice what like Edmunds says it is? Can I use the $1000 flex cash on a lease? They tell me that the residual is 60%. Not sure what the other factors are with them yet. I will post when I know.... Thank you all! Teachers Federal Credit Union is the bank.

If the lease is through the credit union, the credit union sets the lease parameters. Honda Finance only sets the lease parameters for leases that go through them.
