Thanks for the numbers.  If I'm really only keeping the car for 3 years or so, am I better off financing it?  As far as value is concerned?  It doesn't look like the GTI is a great lease value, but if I lease then I know exactly what it will cost me for those three years.

The idea behind a lease is that the residual value is fixed, as you state. If the intention is to keep the car for only the lease term, better to lease.

I got quotes from two dealers. They were both within a few dollars per month of each other. Here is one:

Protection Package: $1495 (window tint and a bunch of overpriced nonsense)
Total Purchase: $30,230
Doc Fee: $150
Acquisition Fee: $625
Tax: $1,889.38
Non Tax Fees: $204
Net Price: $33,098.38

With $1,000 down, 36 month, 7.5k miles @ $533 a month.

That's terrible right? Based on the MF and RV up above, it should be way lower right? I'm also very much against the "Protection Package." Some of the stuff in that package looks to me to be insanely marked up. The only thing in the package I want is window tint (Also has door cups, edge guards, pin stripe, nitrogen, and wheel locks). Honestly, I wont buy the car if it has a pin stripe on it!

Summer Smile bonus is a customer incentive. That should be applied as a CAP cost reduction on the lease.
The sell down bonus is a VW to dealer incentive. That should be reflected in the selling price (lower than it would be, otherwise)

I don't know your local fees. Seems awfully high for electronic filing. I'd guess they've padded it by quite a bit.

Rather than try to negotiate this fee, simply lower the selling price to compensate.
