    Hello:

What is the MF and Residual - and Lease Cash Back for a 2018 and 2019 BMW 440XI Convertible in 60035 for 36/12 and 36/10. Also are they doing anything for 48 months? Would like that info as well. Finally, I think there is significant lease cash - does that come off MSRP as a Sales Price or is that act as Money Down for calculating lease payment?

    Thanks

I currently lease a 4 series which I will turn in within a couple weeks (the current value is worth far less than the buyout, so I will be turning in not trading in).

I want to lease a 430ix coupe. What are the current factory to dealer, or factory to customer incentives that I will qualify for?

I see a $1500 loyalty incentive to current leasees. Can I use that towards lease of a new car? I also see $2500 cash back. Can I use this towards a lease?

Also what is the current lowest money factor that BMW offers on 4 series leases?

Does the $925 acquisition fee go to the dealer as profit? Does the dealer also charge a document fee, as when buying a car? Does the $350 turn in fee go to the dealer or BMW financial as profit?

Also, when I look at the fine print of the current 430ix lease offer on BMW website it mentions a $1,000 lease credit. How does that factor in with the incentives I mention above?

$1000 lease credit, which can be combined with the $1500 loyalty

The $2500 is a purchase incentive.

$925 acquisition fee goes to the bank.
Doc fee will be applied to a lease transaction, as well.
$350 fee will be waived if you lease another car.

Thanks for the great information! I appreciate it so much!

Its good to know the MF and residual numbers. So the only thing left to negotiate is the price of the car?

Nice to know that turn in fee will be waived from last lease.

$925 ace fee is profit to bank for giving me a lease. Sheesh. Don't they make enough money from the lease without needing to pad it? :-) But, seriously.......

So, when negotiating the car price for the lease, I will aim for invoice minus holdback minus the doc fee (which is just dealer profit).

Lets look at the Edmunds numbers first:

$49,085 is MSRP of 430ix w/ convenience package and heated steering wheel, incl dest.

$46,635 is invoice of that car, according to Edmunds

$44,586 is Edmunds TMV. (I guess this is based on most people getting the $2500 purchase credit, which makes the true invoice 46,635-2,500 = 44,135)

    So, in my case:

    I figured invoice this way

    46,800 x .93 = 43,524 (base 430ix)

    1,100 x .92 = 1,102 (convenience package)

    190 x .92 = 175 (heated steer wheel)

    MACO fee = 500

    training fee = 180

    dest fee = 995

Invoice = 46,386 (this is within about $300 of Edmunds invoice)

Dealer holdback 5% of full sticker = $2,454
(Source: https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=917430). I know Edmunds says BMW has no dealer holdback but that hardly seems right.

    46,386 Invoice
    -2,454 dealer holdback
    -------
    43,932 (true invoice including holdback)

    So if I paid $43,432 + $500 doc fee, or $43,932,

Then dealer still walks away with its 1% standard bonus on the car of $490.85 and the other end of month and end of year incentives that dealer gets from BMW.

So, while a dealer would whine and moan at my figures, they still make $500 and other bonuses (which is who knows how much), and the profit from service which is where they make most of their money anyway. They just need new service customers.

Alright, what do you guys think????

My target price of $43,432 isn't that far off from the Kelley blue book fair purchase price of $44,158 and the Edmunds TMV price of $44,586.

However, my calculation above doesn't even take into account the $1000 lease credit and $1500 loyalty credit. Does the Edmunds TMV and KBB fair price take into consideration the $2500 purchase rebate?

I'm not going to refute your logic.

We don't follow pricing, so can't tell you what may be possible.

In general, we suggest folks target 7% off MSRP, less available incentives.

If you were to present your numbers (and the logic behind them) to the dealer, I'm pretty sure they would dig in their heels. I'd just cut to the chase, present your bottom line price to them and see what they say.

Holdback is sacred to dealers, and rarely do they allow pricing to dip into that money.

    Haha! I've been warned. :-)

I'm surprised that no one has volunteered that they know the true story about BMW dealer holdback. I'm a layperson that knows nothing; but an hour of research convinced me that BMW does have holdback and its likely 5%. Certainly someone has better info than that--and I'm sure people care! Its helps us negotiate better.

My analysis of the 5% holdback and the other 1% dealer incentive is not so much to take a bite out of that apple, but to make buyers confident that BMW is making plenty of profit if you buy a car at invoice minus incentives--and encourage buyers to negotiate hard and hold fast! I mean, where are on the side of the buyer here, right??? :-)

Also, why encourage customers to blindly seek a 7% discount. There is enough information out there to allow the customer to approach getting a discount with more finesse and precision.

Oh, and regarding the sanctity of dealer holdback.....I disagree with your comment.

I get that BMW or other luxury dealers may not be willing to allow a buyer to chew into holdback (that's why I'm asking, as I have little experience buying BMWs). But, high volume Asian makes are a different story (I'm guessing US brands are too, I just have no experience there). Many of those dealers are focused on high volume and factory bonuses. Dealers don't blink twice anymore at taking losses on some sales to meet a bonus. I, personally, have purchased multiple Hondas and one Kia below invoice and any incentives, thereby biting into dealer holdback. Dealers do this because they still make some money on the holdback and some money on the complicated incentive and bonus programs that function outside of the customer's scrutinizing eye. ;-)

Every manufacturer has holdback, to one extent or another.

And yes, getting into holdback may be easier with some brands than others, and volume bonuses also come into play, if you time your purchase right.

I'm not suggesting that you can't do better than 7% off MSRP (before incentives, mind you). Read through every BMW thread on these forums and you'll routinely see people getting more than that off their deal.

And, with service loaner or dealer demo vehicles, we suggest you target 12-15% off MSRP.

Our mission is to level the playing field with the dealer, but dealers are not in the business of losing money. They have to make a profit, somewhere, to keep the lights on and the doors open. Only you can decide what price you're willing to pay, and ideally find a dealer willing to play ball.

    A few last thoughts:

    1. This is the 2019 4-series thread. There are still plenty of 2018 4-series on the lots, which I'm sure dealers will be more than happy to deal on.
    2. The 4-series is, in my opinion, not a volume seller for BMW (that's the 3- and 5- series and all the SAVs). Less inventory and lower residual may make for tougher deals.
    3. The MF for BMW has been steadily creeping up in the past year plus (from .00130x to the current .00182), and some of the processes previously available to shoppers to lower the lease payment (multiple security deposits) have been withdrawn, making leasing more expensive.

Keep us posted as to how your shopping goes!

Re money factors, just got quoted the following in Colorado:

    2019 430ix Coupe 0.00222 (new)

    2018 430ix Grand Coupe 0.00202 (service loaner, 4K + miles)

Pricing was fair at 8.77% off the MSRP for the 2019, and 15.76% off MSRP for the 2018.

With a zero down lease, came up witha monthly payment of $764.5 for the 2019 and $592.80 for the 2018. These included the with monthly tax, as were the $925 acquisition and $500 dealer fees.

Base MF is .00182 in either case, so they are marking it up. .00222 is the maximum markup.

    Net Cap Cost: 56,950

    Monthly payment $797.24

    .00182 MF and 57% residual
    $1500 lease credit

That payment looks right with that Net CAP cost.

But, with $2500 upfront, the NET CAP is $1150 higher than the price?

Subtract the first payment and that's still an extra $2850 in other charges.
$925 acquisition fee.. What else is there that adds up to $1925?

$765 in inception fees, besides the other fees they listed?
Along with the $900 doc fee, that's over $1665 to just get your car registered?

That's what is killing your deal.
    Ask for another $1500 off.

Hi Michaell, let me see if I can get this right this time. I am looking at a 2019 440i coupe, 36 months / 10K miles, in zip 75214. The MF they are quoting is .00222, which seems high based on your information from prior months. Thank you!

Kindly provide current residual and MF for 2019 430i xDrive convertible for 10k/36months in zip 11518. If you could also provide current lease incentives including any loyalty that would be appreciated.

Appreciate your thoughts on this deal for an MSRP of $62,210. Given the above terms (including lease credit and loyalty), dealer came back with $793/mo. for 36 mos. My out of pocket includes: $925 acquisition fee, 1st. mo. payment ($793), and license/registration fees (approx. $100). I want to counter with $765/mo.

I should have mentioned that the monthly payment already includes the tax.

What is the selling price or adjusted CAP cost for that quote?

Unfortunately, I don't have that info...but can we work backwards and solve for it to assess deal quality? I know dealer is using 57% residual ($35,460) and .00182 MF, my only down payment is $925 acquisition fee (apart from 1st mo. and $100 DMV fees) and I know I qualify for $1,500 lease credit and $1,500 loyalty.

Better to ask the dealer for the number they used rather than trying to solve for X
