I'm out here in 60601 - did I do this math right, and is this a good deal? I used the Edmunds hand calculation methodology.

State tax in Illinois isn't collected on each lease payment.
It's calculated on the sum of the lease payments, but collected upfront.
So, you have to calculate it on the $721.07 amount X 36, then add that amount to the Adjusted CAP and recalculate. It will change the result slightly.

Also, it makes sense to pull out your non-taxable fees (DMV), and pay them upfront. If you roll them into the CAP cost, you are paying 18.5% tax on them.
    Thanks!

My sheet from the dealer has me paying $412 in fees at signing, which is the sum of all of those doc, license, etc. fees.

It does not state that I'll be paying all of the IL State Tax at once - in theory, that would come in the Amount Due at Signing section. Is that an oversight on the dealer's part, or is the assumption that they're paying it up front and charging me interest on it?
The IL tax is paid upfront, then added to your adjusted CAP. Since it's in the CAP cost, it won't be due at signing. (not in practice or theory). Anything in the CAP cost is subject to finance charges.

I plan to lease a 2019 X3 for 36/10. Please list the items I should request the dealer be included or not included in the "cash due at delivery" payment? My goal is to create a lease that is financially advantageous to me without regard to the size of my monthly payments.

    Where do you live?

    I live in 90291.

    .00166 and 59%

Add the acquisition fee and the dealer doc fee (max $80 in CA) to the payment. Pay the DMV costs when you sign the paperwork.

The dealer argued .00166 is only for purchase and he said lease MF is 0.00206. Is it just a trick they play?

I would not recommend putting down $4400 on a lease. You are only fooling yourself that you have a lower payment; in reality, it's over $750/mo. And, you'd lose that up front cash if the car were stolen or totaled before the end of the lease.

Is the cap cost the negotiated price, before incentives, or after? We recommend you negotiate 7% off the MSRP, then deduct the incentive.

Note that the price break down says "purchase option" - those numbers don't relate to the lease payments that are quoted.

Ask the dealer for the CAP cost used for the payment quotes, and how they got there from the selling price.

    Hi,
Was offered the following deal on a 10/36 month lease on a xDrive30i in 10510 zip:

    MSRP - $49,435
Adjusted Capital Cost - $43,740 (includes 1500 loyalty and corp credit of $500)
    Out of pocket - tax on capital cost reduction (221), 1st month (555), Acq fee (925), DMV (95), taxes (1473) - total = $3269

    $555 a month; .00166 MF; 59% residual.

On a buy I would lose the 3.9% rate it goes up to 5.15% if financed thru BMW.

    Appreciate your thoughts.

Here's what I am looking at:
    MSRP of $56,495
    Discount: $4,395
    Lease Price: $52,100
    Money Factor: .00206 (bad/boo!)
    Tax: 9.5% (ish)
    Residual: 32,767
    Money Down: 0
    36/12 Payment of 777.41

    Finance
    MSRP of $56,495
    Discount: $4,395
    Rebates: $3,500 + 500 (thanks Costco)
    Taxes: $4661.84
    Admin: $599
    Amount Financed: $53,363
    Money Down: 0
    Interest Rate: 2.75%
    60 Month Payment: $952.95

Just seems like financing is a better dealer, and even though the interest rate can be a tad lower, the cost of debt is still amazingly low.

My calculations show finance at $3300 under invoice after rebates. Finance rebates are $3500 and lease rebates are $1500. Thoughts on this?

I guess the question back to you is - how long do you plan to keep the car?

Financing is great if the idea is to keep the car 5+ years; leasing is better if you want a new car after 3 years.

And, yes, the marked up MF is adding $35-40/mo to the payment.

    Correction

Sorry, but there is no $2000 incentive.
    Just the $1500 loyalty.

    No special APR rates, either.

If you are eligible for loyalty, you should get the $1500 rebate, in addition to any discount.

Interested in getting feedback on a potential deal for a 2019 X3 xDrive 30i. MSRP $49,045, Sell Price after rebates $42,700, MF .00166, tax rate 8.625%, rolling in all taxes and fees into lease of 36 months $599 a month at 12,000 miles per year or $629 a month for 15,000 miles per year. Will owe first month plus approximately an additional $250 for DMV fees upon taking delivery. What do you think? Is there further room to reduce price? Also are rebates stackable for BMWs as of July 2018 such as for a recent college graduate if they co-sign on lease with me and CCA on top of USAA or other benefit programs? Thanks.

The sell price was $44,700 and then a reduction of $500 occurred for USAA and $1500 for loyalty making the sell price after these rebates $42,700. My zip code in NY is 11576. The dealer is in NJ.

I have received additional information from my post last week and want to see if you think that I am receiving a good deal on a 2019 X3 xDrive 30i. MSRP $49,045, Sell Price $44,185, Adjusted Cap Cost after $1500 loyalty rebate $45,620, Tax rate for my zip code of 11576 is 8.625%, Money Factor .00166, Residual at 12,000 miles per year $28,446. Price quoted on a 36 month lease at 12k miles per year is $599. Would have to pay first month of $599 plus a $275 registration transfer fee to transfer the plates from my current vehicle that I will be turning in upon taking delivery of the new vehicle. The dealer is located in New Jersey. Do you consider this to be a solid deal on a 2019 vehicle? Assuming I decide to go for 15k miles per year what monthly price do you come up with at a .56 residual? Additionally, if I have a child who graduated college in May of 2017 would I be entitled to receive an additional $1000 off the adjusted capital cost figure quoted which I assume would require that I add my child on as a co-signer to the lease? Thank you.

Thank you.

That is a decent discount - just less than 7% off sticker (before incentives)

Base MF is good news, too.

I get the same payment, with those prices.

$626/mo if you go with 15K miles per year.

Not sure of the eligibility requirements for the college graduate incentive; they may have to be the primary leaseholder.

    Hello,

Any way to negotiate lower APR? 4.15% is their advertised special offer with $1,500 APR credit. If I calculated correctly, it’s 15.8% off with incentives.

    2019 BMW X3
    MSRP $49,895
    Sell price $45,000
    Doc fee $80
    DMV fee $593
    Sales tax $4,282.60 (9.50%)
    Total price $49,955.60
    Customer cash down $10,000
    APR credit $1500
    Loyalty credit $1500
    Amount financed $36,955.60
Finance for 60 month at 4.15%
    Monthly payment is $683.10

    Thanks!

The base APR with the $1500 credit is 2.25% APR.

That's a pretty big markup to the financing. But, it's also a 10% discount off MSRP.
    About an $1800 markup, total.
Most BMW dealers will attempt to markup the financing, but it's usually just 1%. Assuming you have top tier credit.

At the base rate, you could put down just $8200 and get the same payment.

    Just beginning the process...

Need to see residual values & MF's on the base X3 with AWD. I see lease programs on both the 2018 & 2019 models. Which offers the better over-all lease deal?

Can you please advise of #'s for each (RV & MF's for 12K and 36 months)?
Also, which trim level (if not base), appears to be the 'sweat-spot" in terms of lease #'s?
Are there other lease terms, which makes better sense than the 36 month term?
Any Lease incentives, dealer/customer lease cash, etc?

    Many thanks!

Does BMW offer a 39, or 42 month term? If so, MF & RV with the same 12K? Thanks again!

Working on a pretty good deal with a local dealer... They appear to be going into their holdback, to make the numbers... QUESTION: *Does it really make financial sense to pay MSD's? I just don't like the idea of forking over money into a lease? If the vehicle were totaled, soon after driving off the lot, the money is gone, correct?

MSD monies are not the same as a CAP reduction. If something happens to the vehicle, you'd get that MSD money back.

Just got this offer in 33162 on the 2019 X3 s drive.

    36mo/10k miles
    MSRP: $49265
    Acq Fee:$925
    Doc Fee: $799
    Net Cap: $43324
    Residual: 59%
    MF: .00196

Payment comes out to $575/month with 7% tax included.  Have a pretty steep discount so not going to push on the MF markup.  Thoughts?

What is the amount due at signing?

What's the harm in asking for a lower payment? Do you think they'll take away their offer? Are you trying to make friends? ;)

$1,000 due at signing which includes 1st payment, tax on cap cost reduction, and registration fees.  Already negotiated down from starting offer of around $680 so don't think there's much room left.
