Talked to my long-time BMW sales guy yesterday about an X3 m40i. I mentioned the 166 MF, he said it is now 222. Is this legit?

    Houston 77027 or 77002.

.00182 is now the base rate.

    .00222 is with maximum markup

Thanks for the quick reply. Should I be able to insist they use 182? Are they taking advantage of me using 222? I've never negotiated a lease, so this is all new to me.

    Again, thanks!

Yes, tell them you want the .00182 rate, or you'll find a dealer more accommodating.

The dealer doesn't care about your loyalty. Every transaction is a chance to maximize their revenue.
In fact, you being a loyal customer? They are more likely to assume you aren't going anywhere else.

But, yes.. tell them you won't pay any markups to the MF

I understand. I meant it more as a "I'm a legit sale, not a looker" comment.

Thanks for the feedback. I've already sent a message to the sales guy, I'll see what he says.

No.. I knew what you meant. ;)

In my experience, anything that makes you more comfortable about getting a fair deal is likely to work against you. If you had said the Sales Manager was a personal friend, I would have told you to run!

    MSRP?
    Selling price?
$4000 down + fees and such, or just $4000 total out of pocket?

With the .00182 MF out west, even if you negotiate 10% off MSRP, you're still not gonna grab a great lease deal right now, right? Great as in close to 1% rule or decent Leasehackr score. eg. $50,000 MSRP, 10% discount, no incentives, you're looking at $660+/monthly payment for 12k.

1% is not a "rule", more of a guideline.

Some models will have a favorable lease program, most won't, now that the cost of money is going up.

  • Given we are coming up to Holiday season. Do you anticipate the MF to improve and down in November or December? Or should we just anticipate some new incentives.

Got over 11% off MSRP on a ‘19 M40i right now and debating if its worth waiting till November or just take the plunge now?

No predictions as to what the future holds.

11% is a strong discount. Could you get more towards the end of the year? Possible....

Do you need to pull the trigger now?

I have a few weeks till my existing car lease maturity date, though trying to keep the wear&tear to a minimum. My gut says make the move at end of October versus wait till mid-November. Got so many quotes my head is spinning. That way the hunt is over and I can drive the car already :)

  • One more question. How much roughly would all the fees be for a m40i in California (92832)? I feel the dealer might be giving me a deep msrp doscount and then adding it back in the fees.

CA dealers generally don't have anything they can add, unless you are getting aftermarket accessories.

    DMV - about 1.1% of MSRP (i.e.: $660 on a $60K MSRP)
    Doc fee - $80 maximum
BMWFS lease acquisition fee - $925

    MSRP?
CAP cost, with taxes and fees added in?

If you limit the out of pocket to the first payment and registration costs, the payment will be over $700/mo.

Also, which zip code MF/RV should be used for calculations - my home zip code or dealership zip code ? And why MF/RV vary between different zip codes ?
