The dealer gets $2500 if you finance, rather than lease.

So, the spread between buy/lease incentives is only $3675.

Yes, but residual is 2% lower on the Tech. That makes the program sort of a wash. The more expensive MSRP model is still going to result in a higher payment.

The dealer told me .00225 when I visited them.  should I be asking them to lower it?  Not sure if they are trying to get more money out of me.  Also they told me that I can't combine conquest incentive and loyalty incentive.  Other dealers have included both in the quote.  This dealer said that they are all wrong and are providing inaccurate information to get me to go visit their dealership.

If you have $1350 upfront, and a $1000 rebate, shouldn’t your net Cap be lower than your selling price? Are you sure they aren’t adding your outstanding lease payments into the Cap?

Also, the base MF is .00215, so that looks marked up.

Just saw it, they said they would throw in 3 years of maintenance, but it's actually listed in the cap cost at $1,295. And they rolled in one payment of prior balance of $569. So, I think that makes up for it.

Our intention is to own the 2019 after leasing our 2017. I think total payments would be ($20,124 + $26,958) = $47,082. Plus tax on the buy out payment ~$2,600.

With all the upfronts and $49,682 for payments, I think we could probably do better just buying out right. I thought they might be able to get it lower with the $9,700 discount and loyalty cash.

Thanks Michaell and kyfdx. At a minimum the dealer should be able to get the lease down from $559/mo as we are returning customers and have +800 credit scores.

Reached out to the internet sales manager at the same location. He was able to go a little better on cap cost, but haven't gotten the MF yet:

Finance Price: $39,969
Lease Price: $36,294

They told us with Acura Financial, you have to make 3 payments to get a payoff price. But, if we did the payoff price + residual, we would only pay the depreciation for the following 32 months and avoid 32 months of rent charges.

Not 100% this is accurate (might be penalties or they might not write off all of the rent).

But, roughly if we can lease for 3 months and then buy it out I think it saves ~$3,000 (need to calc some more) over buying or financing outright because the incentive is so high at the moment.

Leaning that way. Was hoping they'd be a little more aggressive on the price on a pull-through, and not having to deal with the inspection at end of lease, etc... since we are 95% sure we are just going to get a newer MDX

We're up in October, so the 2020's should be at dealerships by then. Trying to get below the $41,000 TMV, but seems like a wash and more hassle

I did the full math with 57% residual and MF of 0.00215, selling price $36,294. Nothing down except license, regristration, first payment, etc...

In case anyone is interested in owning and refinancing a loan or using a lease buyout with the current incentives.

Assuming pay off after 1st payment + 3 months of lease payments, then pay off the balance+residual in full.




So, the pre tax equivalent purchase price with the current lease incentive ~ $38,081. Total paid for the car to own it is $41,603

I have an offer from Acura to finance one at $39,969 @4.9%, which could also be paid off without penalty (but dealer asked for 3 months of payments so they keep their portion).

TMV is currently $39,494. So at best, looks like leasing and buying out would save $1,500.

Probably not worth rolling out of our lease and into the new one for. Guessing we would get a better deal to buy a 2019 in October.

We don't track pricing, and we don't make decisions with other people's money.

.00225 and 54%, which gives me a payment of $534/mo, plus tax.

What is the tax rate?

So - either the MF is marked up, or the cap cost used for their payment quote is different (read: higher) than the $41,776 from the screen shot.
