In your calculation ($629/mo + tax) you are assuming $0 down, right?
I did my calculation and the result was $629/mo + tax with $0 down.

I did my calculation and the result was $629/mo + tax with $0 down.

I get $550/mo, plus tax, with those numbers.

Only two variables in a lease calculation are the APR and the cap cost.

Confirm both with the dealer.

So I am new to considering leasing and am working up a deal on a Ford Explorer Limited AWD 19. I think the dealer is trying to screw me but don't know where. 36 month/ 15k a year. When I pull it on Ford Credit it gives me $343 per month (not yet counting taxes, licensing, etc), dealer is way over that.

APR is marked way up. Tell them you won't sign a deal unless you get the base rate.

You don't have to use trade-in equity to reduce the CAP cost. Just by trading it in, you should get the tax credit, whether the dealer cuts you a check, or you use it as down payment.
