I’ve read enough to get a sense about the Tier 1 MF and Residuals across the trims, two related questions:

1. What’s the lowest credit score you’ve seen get the tier 1 MF? Assume income above $200k and DTI/PTI are also well below thresholds. (Yes, I know, tons of variables...just looking for some guidance.)

2. Aside from the increase in cap costs and sale price, how do non-factory accessories impact residual calculations? For example: If a loaded Jeep is on the lot with $10k in aftermarket wheels, light bars, etcetera, does that change the residual %?

We don't have the actual numbers for Chrysler Capital, but it's 700+ generally for the tier 1 MF.

If the accessories are installed by the dealer, and are not part of the factory sticker, then you will pay for 100% of them during the lease term ($10,000 / 36 = $278/mo added onto the lease payment).

Personally, I'd avoid things like that, if I'm leasing.

62% for 48/10 - normally, we don't recommend longer terms like this, but because the delta between 36 and 48 months is so small, in this case we make an exception.

To preface, I am in TX and after recently learning I can't simply refinance my truck and keep it...I prefer to never lease again unless I can be on title. I want my name on title, so I don't get taxed twice if I decided to keep my next vehicle at end of the term. That being said , I decided to apply for a Balloon loan through the Credit Union I currently have an auto loan with, as they are the loan servicer I ended up after signing the lease for my truck in 2016(hope that made sense). Have Excellent credit and was approved for the $48k amount I requested. I am considering going with either Rubicon 4dr, Sahara/Altitude 4dr, or Gladiator.

I was very pleased with the credit union rep, until numbers changed from Friday to Monday(today). The rate went from 2.114% to 2.890% from Friday to Monday. The estimate on Friday , I was doing 39mo, but as of Today, the estimated payment jumped nearly $45 w/ the 39mo term. Rep told me today, it would be best to go with 48 or 51mos. I politely called her out about my notes from our phone conversation on friday as we were talking about 39mos with rate at 2.114. She is super nice, but flat out denied every giving me those rates and terms. I just let it go and moved on to the 48mo she suggested. I chalked it up to rates move as they do in mortgage world (I'm a 20yr Mortgage Banker, but I now little about the auto fiance world).

I asked for estimate assuming MAX loan of $48k with15K annual miles on a Gladiator Sport S, Rubicon 4dr, and 4dr Altitude (which in the small print on window sticker it's labeled a Sahara).
I was told the loan balance at end of 48mo on Gladiator was $32,083
Rubicon was $32,680
Sahara was $28,860

She never said the amount the payment would be on the Sahara, but said it was way higher than from what I told her I want to spend.

I was on my way to dealer about Rubicon so I asked her to go with that.

Here is a copy paste of what Rep texted me

1) Is what they presented a good, meh, or bad deal/offer?
2) Is Balloon Financing Formulas/math the same as a lease calculation?
3) Why are things not more clearly disclosed (rhetorical question).
4) Is there a better deal or should I give up on the balloon financing and just accept I am doomed to pay more being in TX (if I decided to keep
my ride)?

Any opinion, advice is greatly appreciated as I have just about had it with the car buying process.... I won't even share the dealer experience I had on Saturday. Waste of half a day, some shady BS. Root canal without novocain is starting to look more appealing.

I don't have the answers to your questions about balloon financing.
But, trying to use a third party financial institution for anything other than a straight loan is bound to be a confusing mess.
Have you asked the dealer about balloon financing? Given you are in Texas, I would guess they have a lot of experience with it. And, probably multiple lenders to choose from. You might find a better deal.
You've already had the CU rep deny saying things that you seem to have heard. That would have killed it for me, right there.

My dealer is quoting me a MF of 0.00295 (7.08%). Are the MF's negotiable? Do other banks allow for lease financing like if you are going to finance the car? Keep in mind this is for a 2020 Wrangler. The 2019's cannot be ordered any more, confirmed by multiple dealerships.

Jeep dealers can choose from Chrysler Capital, Ally or US Bank to fund their leases. Generally, the dealer software is programmed to go with the bank that provides the lowest payment.

We only have access to the CCAP numbers, however.

So, even though the MF is high, the residual is likely high, as well, and there may be more incentives available to drive down the payment.

That said, the dealer does reserve the right to mark up the MF; for CCAP, that markup is restricted to .00042. As we don't have the Ally or US Bank programs, we can't tell you if the rate you see is marked up. We think the MF is .00225 from CCAP, but haven't been able to confirm that rate for July.

So we are about a week into July now. Do you know of any numbers for the 2020 Wranglers yet? My dealer is giving me 62% residual for a 2020 Wrangler Sahara Altitude. That was the same as the 2019s. I would have thought the residual would be higher for a 2020.

With $2000 down including 1st month payment, quoted lease price for 42 months, 42K miles is $499 per month including taxes, docs, fees, etc. Let me know what you think and thanks again.

Hello, my zip code is 07860 (NJ). They did not provide the selling price when providing the quote. I basically asked for a monthly price that included all costs, fees and taxes bundled together including the 1st payment. That resulted in the $499 quote, so $1501 is going to total cap reduction I assume. Thank you.

Hi. My zip is 60025. For a 2019 Sahara Unlimited, the dealer quoted a CCAP MF of .00273 with a 66% RV for a 36/10 lease. This was with $0 down, but I am willing put down $1,000. FYI no acquisition fee. I would have expected MF's to come down with interest rates, but maybe they are unrelated. MF seems very high. Can this be correct?

The dealer can mark up the MF as much as .00042. Check with other dealers to see if they offer a lower MF.

Wranglers are popular, and the bank and dealers are making as much money as they can, while they can.
