    When you see the word "retail" in incentives, that is almost always for purchase/finance only.

    With your help, I have been trying to find an honest dealership to lease a Limited FWD 36/10 (my ZIP is 63109). They are all up front that yes, 59% is the RV, but they just ignore any attempt at discussing the MF, even when I tell them that I am expecting to see .00168. Fine, I get it. However, they all act like they have no idea what I'm talking about when I mention the Hyundai $2750 lease cash and $500 bonus cash. They ask me what "lease cash" means, and I have no idea what to tell them. Same thing with "bonus cash".

    Then, they refuse to come down in price, saying that I'm already getting a great deal with the incentives.

    This is just a terrible experience. I'm ready to throw in the towel and start riding the bus. Yes, I am very serious. Any advice?

    Keep expanding your search area.

    Are you negotiating in person or via email / other means.

    It's sad that a company with pretty decent products have dealers that force their customers to go through this to get a good deal.

    Agreed. And good call, I will do exactly that.

    How should I answer the annoying question when they ask me what is lease cash?

    As for how I've been going about it, I've been trying to do both. But they won't give me anything via email, and the best I will get over the phone is a number that is only a monthly payment, and it's clear that it doesn't even take into account any rebates or discounts at all. They tell me I need to come in to get anything better than that.

    They know what the incentives are, and how they work.

    Just tell them you want their best deal, with all available incentives. Someone will separate themselves from the pack.

    So, another question that I don't know how to answer. I was asked by the dealership how I came up with .00168 as the money factor. Because the number they keep throwing around would mean they are using .00240 for top tier credit on a Limited FWD in MO.

    The answer I gave was honest: I did a "build a vehicle" on the manufacturer website, plugged in the numbers, and hit details. It provides everything except the money factor. X = the money factor, solve for X. Out pops 0.00168(ish) every time on the Limited FWD, which matches the numbers for May for the area that are thrown around on the Edmunds forums.

    The response I got was that, when I come in, they will show me the actual money factor that Hyundai has provided to them.  Of course, my response will be that it doesn't match with what Hyundai advertises on their website, but may I ask where you come up with your money factor? It would be nice to be able to tell them something other than Edmunds forums if possible.

    Our numbers are from HMF.

    The reason they won't tell you, is that HMF allows them to mark up the rate by .00040.

    I spoke with the manager with whom I worked last time around. He commented that I was correct, re: money factor and he was pretty forthcoming that they do take advantage of the wiggle room afforded to them, but that they would not do so in my case. Ultimately, it was the fastest, quietest, most awkward F&I transaction I've ever had. He didn't even mention the key replacement, the paint protection, etc. He simply had me sign the DMV paperwork, briefly went over and had me sign the lease contract, asked for the first month's payment plus titling fee, and shook my hand. He wasn't rude or anything, I guess he just figured there was no way I was going to consider any of those types of things, and made it a quick and painless ordeal.

    I got a 36/10 on the Limited FWD that I wanted. Literally, down to the color. MSRP was 30,545. With Hyundai incentives and the $500 Hyundai loyalty bonus for my Sonata, I was hoping for $25k before acquisition fee and $199 doc fee, but was going to be happy with 25.5k plus fees.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that the net capital cost was $25,550 after all fees, zero down, with 59% a RV as a given, and they did honor the .00168 MF, as evidenced by the payment before taxes of $282 for 36 months.

    I hope you will agree with me that I got a fair deal.  Once again, I really appreciate your time and advice. I would not have been given that price, and most likely not the money factor either, had I not walked in there already being informed thanks to your help.
