For clarification, Acura allows only one security deposit, correct.

Correct - it will lower the MF from .00225 to .00215 (if you go with the higher MF / incentive)
Thank you as always, I wanted to ensure they didn't allow multiple security deposits and only allowed the one. At 5.16% it's quite high, I didn't want to be locked in if there's a way to go lower.
If you have the money, you can do a one-pay lease and shave .00080 off the MF.
I didn't know that, good to know. This is one of those things that if something happens to the car, the money is gone, correct?

Generally, a single-pay lease isn't treated the same way as a big CAP cost reduction. It's treated as 36 equal payments, and payments still outstanding are refunded
How would a lease work if you trade in a car or make a down payment(cap cost reduction?) and planned to buy out the car immediately? Would you not be paying the money factor interest on the lease since you brought the price down to the point of the residual value?
There are always finance charges. Even if you pre-pay your depreciation, you'll still have the residual amount to pay finance charges on. The bank pays the full selling price for the car.
If planning on buying out the car immediately, are there any issues with making a large downpayment? Would any of the downpayment be used to pay the interest portion of the monthly payments? I wouldn't want to end up pre paying the monthly payments that include the interest charges.
No, it shouldn't matter, but if you are buying it out immediately, why put part of the money upfront at the beginning?
I figure it would eliminate any of the interest or rent charge. Why not save a few more bucks if I'm going to pay it all off asap anyways? Obviously, I wouldn't want to do this if they just applied it to the future interest payments.

Basically if the vehicle price is 35k and the residual is 25k would making a $10k down payment eliminate my payments and make the lease 'risk free'? I just have to pay the residual and I own the car?

Signed (Is this a good deal?)
MDX SH AWD- with tech-12/36, zip 07016
$465 per month including tax ($3k down including first month)
negotiated 2 year oil change/service free
    Gross Cap Cost = $42,423.65
    Adjust Cap Cost = $38,695.15

Also, I see a lot of folks discussing buying out their lease right away. How does that work? My residual at the end of the lease would be $26,788

    Looks like a good deal.

    Congrats!
Thank you! Now I just need to figure out if it makes sense to buy out my lease right away or wait until my lease up in 3 years.
Can you request a payoff amount from Acura and report back? This would clear up whether you pay the sum of remaining payments or just the principle portion.
I’m working on it. The dealership sent me the below when I inquired about it:

“On your Acura statement, there will be a buyout option after a few months. If you wish to buyout the car early, you can reach out to Acura directly for instructions on how to purchase the car. From there, you can choose to finance it through us, or you can secure your own financing, whichever you prefer. Each time you make a lease payment, the buyout will decrease towards the end of lease cost we discussed.”

No, if you pay the depreciation upfront, you still owe finance charges on the residual amount. So, you'd still have a payment, until you paid it off.

Try contacting Acura financial. I called them and they said if I had already leased they could pull up my contract with my social security number and give me the payoff amount. I think the dealers tell you to wait a few months to get their kickback on the loan.

If you do, there is a bump to the MF to offset it. Generally, not worth it.

.00215 is the alternate MF, with a higher incentive ($8600)

Not sure why the quote is lower than that.

I'm not sure if Acura has a MF bump, in lieu of paying the acquisition fee. But, they probably do, and it would be advantageous, as you'd only be paying the higher finance charges for a couple of months.

But, you likely can't convert from a lease to a purchase in 2-4 weeks. The bank likely won't sell you the car until the title work is completed. First, you get a temporary tag, then 2-6 weeks for the bank to get you the paperwork to register the car, then maybe another 2-4 weeks for the bank to get the title.
Two to three months is probably about the best.

One other issue: You do a one pay lease for $20K, including $1500 of sales tax. Then, the bank sells you this $40K car, will you have to pay another $3000 in sales tax? Yes, I know you are only paying $20K to buy out the residual, not another $40K, but this might be a snag.

Trying to help a family member work a one pay lease right into a purchase within 2 to 4 weeks (zip 60126). Is it possible to structure the deal whereby the acquisition fee is waived? I remember reading someone here a few months ago, IIRC.

Here in communist IL luckily only the monthlies are taxed (not sure what year they changed from price of the car being taxed).

The lease wouldn't actually be a one-pay though. Probably 3 yrs/10k, and converted right into a purchase. I swear I read of a poster here doing that very thing the last few months. His dealer actually set it up the right way -- minimizing his fees; I'll have to go back and see if I could find it.

Either way, in order to get the $8000 + incentive you have to initially lease it. So whether you buy it out 30 days or 90 days after initial transaction you wouldn't have shelled out that much in interest.

I have a dealer's ad from last year (which I can't attach to my post for some reason) and I'd be looking to beat that deal. August of '19 an MDX AWD Tech pkg MSRP of $52,295 for $37,131.97 and monthly lease of $436.02 with no money down.

Illinois collects the full amount of tax on the lease, upfront. Yes, it's only applied to the actual amounts paid, but it isn't collected monthly. The tax issue is the biggest thing to worry about.
