Whatever the method is, it is set by the bank, so there would be no reason for the dealer to hide that information from you.

Just wanted to update , I finally closed the deal yesterday on this with 2500 drive-off(includes first month payment) and $608(inc tax) monthly payment. They were really wanting to make their May numbers - not sure if this is the best deal but better than where we were

This is what a dealer came to me with after a lot of back and forth (I'm in Texas, so the tax is a big factor in total payments):

MSRP: $64,750
Residual: 54%
MF: 0.00107
Sale price: $63,000
Tax credits: ~$3,100
Free powder coat of wheels: $1,200 dealer price, ~$5-600 elsewhere
Total monthly payment: $885

I was happy about the tax credits which brought the total monthly way down, but I wasn't too happy with the sale price. I final offered $60,750 which they rejected and I told them to contact me if they change their mind.

Was the offer from the dealer that we initially settled on a good deal and should I go back to them for that offer?
Or did I make the smart choice and should stick with my lower "take it or leave it" price?

I really do want the car, but ~3% off MSRP seems kind of ridiculous.

I didn't say that, at all.

LR dealers are allergic to discounting, compared to other brands.

Tax credits absolutely help with the overall deal, but you can get that with other brands, as well.

Not sure how far you're willing to travel, but shopping other dealers to make sure you're geting the best price can't hurt.

Thought I'd come back to share since some advice did help me make a decision on a good deal/bad deal.

Got a 2020 Velar R-Dynamic P250 S w/ almost fully loaded options + free powder coat on the wheels ($1,200 dealer cost) for $909/month in Texas. All taxes and fees included, 0 down.
MSRP was right under $71,000.

Might not be the best deal possible in general, but from what I've found on Range Rovers and their tiiiiiny discounts (if at all), I thought I did pretty well.

Would a loaner have a different MF and RV? MSRP of $66,073 As per the sales person the selling price is 57,936. With plugging in the numbers with 4,500 total due at signing i am getting $555, but was quoted $649 by the dealer

There could be a residual adjustment downward, to account for the mileage.

Also, the dealer could be marking up the money factor.
