Not sure if this is the right place to post but ended up getting the 2020 Kona SEL AWD with Etch on window 10k/36months for $290/month + $689 due at signing (First month payment and $399 bare minimum fee). Super late where I am so no pics sorry.

I replied to the salesman asking for a breakdown of the cap cost and cap cost reduction. He said the capitalized cost is $28,951.36 and that, because I'm putting no money down, "there isn't any money going towards cap cost reduction."

I then replied asking about the $2500 lease cash incentive, suggesting we could apply that as cap cost reduction. I also asked for a breakdown of the $948.36 difference between the cap cost and the sales price.

He responded saying they are using the rebate to "get to your payment." He went onto say that because I'm putting no money down, the taxes and fees get rolled into the payment, and in order to do that they have to "add the taxes and fees back into the selling price." He did not provide a breakdown of the cap cost.

The more I look into this, the more it seems less and less like the "blow-out deal" he described it as initially, and more and more like a pretty lousy one. Am I correct in that assessment?

Dealer is correct that the taxes and fees are being added in. Problem is, what else (*cough* junk fees *cough*) is also being added?

If they don't want to be fully transparent with the numbers, perhaps it is time to find another dealer.
