The shocker is that AFTER I received this deal a San Diego dealer I had previously shopped contacted me with the standard (in the current program) .00092 MF (2.2% equivalent) ON THE VERY SAME CAR. Oh, and that was on a considerably higher price.

The Kicker: That was with AND without the MSD. With the MSD, especially 10 of them (the max with Mercedes), you should get a huge cut in the MF. If you don't, walk away. I'm guessing the dealers pad these, if they can get away with doing so.

Moral of the story: Shop, shop and shop again.

I have no idea why you would put a down payment on a lease. And if you did (which the dealers try to get you to do as a "cap cost reduction" to get the monthly payment down) you wouldn't instead do a MSD. After all, not only do you wind up with a lower monthly payment and lower finance charges, but you get that money back in the end.

If the car gets wrecked you don't have the issue of potentially losing that down payment value either, correct?
