Probably in the range of $300-600.

Though, I'm pretty sure the dealer has to be transparent about them. Call around to different Mazda dealers and ask.

Buy, or lease?

I'd check with the state revenue department websites in both states to determine what tax liability you'll owe.

As for registration, you'll likely pay twice if you buy before you move.

Wait until you move to FL.

Texas will tax the entire purchase price, even on a lease, and you'll either pay that money up front, or have the tax amount added into the monthly payment.

When you move to FL, they tax the monthly payment, so you'll pay tax twice for the transaction.

While in conversation (via phone) with a floor salesman today, he indicated that, "since we were negotiating a lease, the negotiated sale price of the vehicle was less relevant and that the comparisons I've seen on True Car and elsewhere are effectively irrelevant as those are sales only. Those sale prices are only pertinent when you're buying the car." This, of course, is not accurate - wanted to ask if anyone else has heard this before?

Sort of. There are different incentives for lease vs purchase, so often prices published on the web aren't the same price that will work for a lease.

What little I know about NJ registrations, is that you pay $84/year for vehicles over 3500 pounds, and you pay all three years up front - that's $252. May be an extra charge for title and plates, but don't quote me on that.

Separately, they've also quoted an Initial title fee of $6 and initial registration fee of $361.50. Is this realistic? Per the DMV, NJ registration is a flat rate of $85 for financed vehicle with one lien. This dealership doesn't own this vehicle and, therefore, doesn't have the title. Am I missing something here?

What little I know about NJ registrations, is that you pay $84/year for vehicles over 3500 pounds, and you pay all three years up front - that's $252. May be an extra charge for title and plates, but don't quote me on that.
