I was hoping to check a lease deal. In 60047, a 2022 Outback Limited XT for 36 months and 15K per year. MSRP is $40,100. Actual sale price is $43,572. Money factor is .00165, residual value % is 63% and residual value is quoted as $27,450.36. Due at lease signing is $5,205 which includes $4,000 cap cost reduction, 1st lease payment and fees. Per dealer, payment is $575. When I calculate the monthly lease price, I get $485. What am I missing?

What number are you using for the adjusted cap cost? What number is the dealer using?

If I use $39,572 as the cap cost (selling price less cap reduction), I get $504/mo, plus tax.

Is 60047 Cook County, or City of Chicago? The taxes may be added to the deal, which would inflate the payment.

Lake County, which is 7% tax. I am not sure what the dealer is using. I am using $39,572.

Lake County, which is 7% tax. I am not sure what the dealer is using. I am using $39,572.

The $1205 additional upfront is only enough to pay the acquisition fee and first payment.

7% sales tax on the sum of the payment, plus DMV/dealer fees have likely been added to the CAP. Ask the dealer for their adjusted CAP and an itemization.

Also, your MSRP and residual amount do not match. The residual must be exactly 63% of the MSRP. So, you're starting with bad information. (likely, the incorrect MSRP)

Thank you! I've been out of the leasing game for awhile and just jumping back in to find a car for the next few years. These MF's seem CRAZY HIGH considering current interest rates. Why are they so high?
