That just looks like a bad wrap job by the installer that they're trying to correct. Stainless steel isn't porous. So, doubtful it "absorbed" (as the picture states) anything.

Made a Paper Towel and Roasted Chicken run to Costco yesterday. As Costco does, their TVs are displayed near the entrance. People were loading them in their vehicles. Thought maybe they were having a sale. But, interestingly enough, they had a red sale price ticket on the Samsung I had considered. But, it was $100 more than what I had priced it out 2 weeks ago. Asked the roaming electronics person what the big deal was on TVs. He said people were buying them before tariffs raise the price of them.

I just can't stop watching the aftermath videos regarding the Palisades fires. There are a lot of cruel comments about how the people in PP who lost their homes were all rich so tough luck. That's nuts, and a sad commentary. But I've seen some about Altadena and they are just as bad. The difference there is that while some of the properties there were indeed expensive, most of them were just working people's homes. Forget what the crazy market there valued them at. I saw one video a few days ago of an Altadena family going about their business on the day of the fire, cooking dinner after work, playing with their kids, etc., then seeing the smoke and flames approach, evacuating, and then coming back a day or so later to nothing. So sad.
Yesterday the videographer I've been following spent some time watching a crew contracted by the CHP tagging and hauling away burned-out hulks left alongside the PCH. There was an early-'90s M-B 500SL convertible that was barely identifiable sitting on its floorpan on the side of the road. Further up the road was a Mini Cooper convertible and a more modern 911 in the same condition. You would assume that living next to the beach at Malibu those folks must be rich, right? Then I looked up the address on Street View and it was a stretch of what must have been the cheapest housing there. One building was almost motel-like with tiny units jammed together, while another was a series of shacks side by side, probably holding each other up. I don't think rich people lived in those, and they're all gone now. The nastiness on social media is just unreal.

———————————————— Congrats to you.
It would be nice if the folks around here could say that BUT that ain’t gonna happen for the foreseeable future. The folks around here blame Tomlin for that but they are wrong. The blame rests squarely with the Rooneys for putting up with a coach that has lost 7 straight first round playoff games. Yet a year ago he was given a 3 year extension. Would the team you root for be that stupid? No need to answer, that was a rhetorical question.
We can only hope Rooney retires when Tomlin’s contract expires and turns over ownership to his son, If not, rinse and repeat.

I'm a Giants fan. I actually enjoy watching the Chiefs play. They aren't like the Patriots dynasty that I actively rooted against for the better part of 15 years. Mahomes definitely gets a lot of phantom calls. I just can't believe it is some sort of conspiracy between the NFL & the Referees. The last TD pass he threw to Kelce on the way down was great.
I hope the Commanders beat the Eagles on the last play of the game in the 4th quarter. I don't think that's going to happen though. The Eagles are a strong team.
I want to see the Bills win. I went to school in Ithaca, NY and so many people were Bills fans. Very passionate and dedicated. However, I don't know if they can beat the Chiefs twice in the same season.

Unfortunately we know people who have lost their homes. I can’t bear looking at any of it. And right near the anniversary of the devastating Thomas fire mudflows in our area. Interestingly I read a fascinating science article explaining how fires in the west and extreme cold in the east are linked. And both are getting more intense every year.
Watching a video with those two in it needs a government warning at the start about how it could damage brain cells.
I saw the Altadena one a week or so back. It was a bunch of old cars stored in the open air exposed to the elements. I’d hazard a guess that they probably weren’t being well taken care of before all this.

A couple of Edmunds employees lost their homes, and one lost his life, in the Palisades fire. At one point, the edge of the mandatory evacuation area was just a couple of miles from our corporate office. Needless to say, it's been a pretty stressful time for our personnel who live locally.

Sorry to hear that an Edmunds staffer lost their life in the fire. I was surprised over the first few days to hear that the toll was so low as early reports indicated given how fast things spread. The actual number may be difficult to determine given how so little is left in many areas.

No doubt there will be more to come. This fire is HUGE. Even at 65% contained, the fire is still raging - it's just not spreading as quickly. Green dot is approximately where our offices are, so you can imagine a number of employees live in the affected area. I'm sure that once it's over, the final devastation counts will be tremendous. I live in hurricane territory, and while those can be awful, I'll put up with that danger LONG before I'd live in an area that's fire-prone.

Agree about Bills fans. When Damar Hamlin had his heart issue here in Cincinnati, we rallied around him and the Bills. Bills fans were very appreciative to those of us who are Bengals Fans.
Plus, several years ago, when Andy Dalton was still our starting QB, the Bengals ended up beating the Ravens on a last minute Hail Mary thrown by Dalton (and caught by Tyler Boyd) which put the Bills in the Playoffs. Bills fans showered Bengals' charities with donations as a result.
I just like watching Josh Allen play.
Regarding the Chiefs? Well....we all know how that's gone over the last few years when the Bengals and Chiefs play each other.

In the "Closing the barn door after the horse has gone" dept., there was a video posted (I think last week, so shortly after things stopped burning along the PCH) of large work crews clearing bush, undergrowth and organic debris from the hillsides above the highway. They even were removing large hardwood trees that were still standing but scorched and presumably killed by the flames. The issues with all of the hillsides (which was most of the fire area) was that the leaves, bark and twigs that fell off all those bushes and trees and which was never cleared from the hillsides was easily ignited by flying embers in those insane winds and served as kindling for everything else. Dried-out palm fronds are very efficient fire-starters.
I don't know if people living in the affected areas really ever gave much thought to the bigger picture about living in such an area. Maybe they figured their residential area which looked like pretty much every other residential area anywhere else with irrigated green lawns and a few bushes wasn't particularly fire-prone. But videos of the night of the fire I've seen show a lot of fires catching at the top of palm trees on dried-out fronds thanks to embers blowing around that then quickly spread to adjacent structures in the wind.

———————————————— I decided to comment about this:
Only someone who is the fan of a team that some consider a dynasty can appreciate a team that is on the verge of doing something no other team has done before. Think Steelers in the 70’s, Patriots for a couple decades in the new millennium knows what it feels like. And yes, when their team was considered “LOSERS” no one cared. However, become a winner and now you’re hated. I guess it depends on what side of the fence you are.
I’d like to tell you the names of what a couple Steelers told me when I took my young Sons to a couple dinner/autograph sessions back in their hay-day (with the greed today that would never happen). Anyway, I asked them what they thought about the hatred that fans had of them in NFL cities across the country. To a man they said, “don’t tell anyone I said this but if the media asked me that question, I’d say we just play the game and don’t listen to outside noise. But to tell you the truth, we thrive on it. It’s the best bulletin board material we can get. I hope they keep it up. Couldn’t be happier to hear it”.
I told them I’d never tell so I’m keeping my promise.
You have to have been there to understand.

I'm sorry to learn that someone from Edmund's lsot their life and others their homes. Sad.
I recall that one of our Edmunds posters who lived in San Diego talked about not being able to clear brush/flammables from around his property because of restrictions by the State. I believe he moved to Nevada.
There are so many things to criticize about this but now is not the time.
We need to think of the people in N. Carolina and S. Carolina who suffered from the floods that came quickly and unexpectedly in most cases. I talked to our longtime friend in NW South Carolina a day ago; he reminded me of people in his state, TN and NC that were still trying to recover.
I thought of that because of the mudslide floods that may hit California next. Scary.

Good points. I know I’m really excited for another shot at the Super Bowl!
————————————————Congrats to you.

I figured that but your post immediately followed the post about a car burning up. I guess that’s what happens when you don’t copy the post you were referring to. Too much shorthand will cause that.

I'm sad you have such a low opinion of me.
All you have to do is try harder.

I saw the Altadena one a week or so back. It was a bunch of old cars stored in the open air exposed to the elements. I’d hazard a guess that they probably weren’t being well taken care of before all this.

I decided to comment about this:

@suydam mentioned this earlier with the Thomas fire a few years back, and the resultant mudslides that devastated the small wealthy enclave of Montecito, outside of Santa Barbara.

Scary.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
Sadly from people who I've spoken with, and have gone to help, report in NC/SC the conditions are much worse than being communicated.
