Your pretty much summed it up-except I don't get the 580-660's anymore since I changed stores. Guess I need to go back to the trail.
  • jipsterjipster Member Posts: 6,296
Ya know what, Jip? I think I actually remember that. I'll review the case, but I created quite a ripple. That was a lot of fun...

For that, I'll GIVE you a new Porsche.

You have to pay for shipping though, and that's going to run around 100k.

I went back in time and read some of those posts from when you first started posting on Oct. 13th, 2006 (post #4016). It's a very entertaining thread (2 weeks worth) and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good chuckle.

A quick recap from "Stories from the Sales Frontline" that caused a few members to soil themselves. 1) moo has a mother and daughter stop in dealership, blows them off as they are wasting his time... hands them a brochure and bids them a good day. 2) Moo recounts story of psycho salesmen strangling a little guy... says it's the funniest thing he has ever seen. 3) Moo makes comment about eating a baby. 4) Moo tells story about "Snakes in a Dealership" 5) Moo asks what's the difference if his stories are true or not. 6) Exasperated and frustrated his politically incorrect humor is taken the wrong way, Moo states, "My work here is finished. Bye."(post #4694)

Jipster senses Moo is on the ropes and is about to go down for the count...offers the downtrodden and weary moo some encouragement to carry on in post #4457 and #4818. Moo gets up off the canvas and the rest is history. Now, before you or anyone else start to sing my glory... how about knocking a couple bills off the shipping cost of that 911? :shades:

Funny stuff, I know when I first started posting here I got real tired real quick of having to defend my proffesion all the time in a thread that people were asking me to tell them about it.

But then when I started to learn peoples personalities I was fine.

I used to think Snake was an [non-permissible content removed] that would argue with a fence post, but now I am used to him and understand he is a pretty cool guy that would argue with a fence post. :D
  • mackabeemackabee Member Posts: 4,709
What do you mean remember the days when everyone wanted $250 a month? Heck they still do. You ask them that question and that's what they say and nowadays it's; "How much are you putting down?" and they say "Nothing."
    ;)
  • joel0622joel0622 Member Posts: 3,299
You ask them that question and that's what they say and nowadays it's; "How much are you putting down?" and they say "Nothing."

I have always trained sales people to do two thing when it comes to money down.

    1. Always ask "Mr Customer, how much over and above the normal down payment of TTL, (because no one wants to finance there taxes), will you be putting down today.

When they ask how much do you need the automatic response is $10K. When they say I don't have that much, you ask how much they can afford.

90% of the time that will get you $500-$1000 down from a customer who did not want to put anything down. Now keep in mind I only do this with folks who NEED to put money down.
  • epineyepiney Member Posts: 462
Just tell them to take it out of a HELOC and it's free!

A professional couple who are acquaintances bragged about how the $50K car they just bought was free since they took out a loan on their HELOC and were taking a tax deduction. :confuse:
  • epineyepiney Member Posts: 462
Buyer one pays cash and buys something i dont sell.( i dont want them, they try to get a discount from coke machines)

Buyer two is just happy to be riding . ( my favorite cust 580 to 660 beacon)

As is always the case, those with money pay less and those that can't really afford it pay more.

Oh, and not all cash buyers look for a discount from the coke machine, most expect complimentary cokes ;)

    we use e pencil here.

"90% of the time that will get you $500-$1000 down from a customer who did not want to put anything down. Now keep in mind I only do this with folks who NEED to put money down. "

i ask these folks "whats the most you could put down."

they will always say "well, i don't want to put anything down." so i say "well, if the banks require a down payment, whats the most you can put down, but we will try to do it without anything down."
  • joel0622joel0622 Member Posts: 3,299
This will get you $500 down 99% of the time. If a customer says they have no money down tell them "Sir.Mam the way the bank looks at it is if you don't even have $500 saved for a down payment what would you do if your car payment was due today"? Thats no BS either, I get asked that all the time when rehashing?

My pet peeve is when I get a customer and ask them why they are not putting any money down and they tell me they planned on it but no one asked. Lazy [non-permissible content removed] sales people cost me more money then a customer ever has.
  • mackabeemackabee Member Posts: 4,709
So what's the advantage of putting money down for you not the customer?
    Mack

PS. Seattle has a snow ball's chance in hell if they meet up with the Boys. We have not forgotten last year's disastrous ending to that game. ;)
  • nthenthe Member Posts: 414
"So what's the advantage of putting money down for you not the customer?
    Mack "

well, if the bank will finance 15000 on a certain car and your price is 15,500, then either the customer has to come up with the 500 or the dealership does..
  • mackabeemackabee Member Posts: 4,709
Ok. That's understandable. But I have an A+ player that doesn't want to put any money down. Now what?
    Mack
  • joel0622joel0622 Member Posts: 3,299
Money down is key to a payment close A+ customer or not.

But like I said earlier we are talking about people who NEED to put money down.

Come on Mack, quit playing possum with me you know this stuff, you just didn't like my "Lazy [non-permissible content removed] sales person" comment. image

Don't worry I call them that all the time, the ones that it applies to know it and the ones it don't know it.

Success requires no explanation, failure speaks for its self

Can I trade up to a king ranch with no money down? and keep my payments the same, please.
  • joel0622joel0622 Member Posts: 3,299
Well since ya said please I can let ya do one of the three. Guess which one :D
  • jescuejescue Member Posts: 521

A greenpea sold my Outback today :) sold it @ invoice and scooped the rebate :shades:

I now have a Hyundai Veracruz ,I like it :) I think Yota/Lexus may have some competition from this model,
  • mackabeemackabee Member Posts: 4,709
You're right! I keep telling my fellow sales people and managers that Hyundai is going to be a big player in a few years. They are doing the same things Toyota did to get where they are today. That Veracruz is a pretty bit.

It makes a Tribeca look stupid,The only way i could see getting the Tribeca over the veracruz would be the vdc awd system and the subaru badge.Take the badge off the veracruz and you would think it came from Lexus or Infinity.

we can do a ltd veracruz for 299 x 36 with just first and last.

No. No. I could read your fine print. It needs to be smaller...

Meanwhile, I liked back a couple dozen posts on possible alternate names for the topic. How about "My Salesperson is a low down no good lying weasel (sorry, snake)?" Or is that too laid back?

Fezo, I really don't think your topic creates enough controversy. Since members can't create discussions here and our archives are (hopefully temporarily) missing, making it impossible for us to revive "Inconsiderate Salespeople," I was thinking about starting the "SalesSleeze & Stealerships: A Glimpse into the Netherworld."

But other suggestions that would keep tidester & I busy deleting posts 25 hours per day* are most appreciated!
