You'll need to cut and paste this one until I can figure out how to do the active link on this site.

I'm in Northern CA and very few of the dealers here have them.

For the front, I just turned the wheel all the way to one side as I installed the guards.
For the rear, I used an awl to make a small hole in the fender and the guard, since both the fender and guard is plastic. I then used a stubby screwdriver to install the screws. I figured that it was not necessary to drill holes since I was going into plastics and it would hold a little better without drilling a hole.
It only took about 30 minutes to install all 4 guards.
The guards have been tight ever since.

My Envoy SLT has 4500 miles on it. My service manager has ordered the license plate gasket for me. I didn't have the chipping, but wanted the gasket as prevention. NOW, I notice that the chipping has started (goes about 1/2 around the plate area). This concerns me greatly, because I see metal. Is there something that needs to be done in addition to adding the gasket.
Thanks all for an invaluable resource. When I go to the dealer armed with your info, I don't get the run-around. THANKS!!!!!
They installed the gasket (seal) without doing anything to the chipped paint on mine which was OK by me.
If you really are down to the metal, I would make them touch-up (paint) where it is exposed. Even with the gasket you may well end up with rust otherwise. Just my opinion.
Good luck.
No. The gasket covers an additional 1/4" or so.
Here is the link to the pictures Tim (tlauro) has on his site.
http://www.timlauro.com/cars/trailblazer/paint-chipping-before-after.htm
Click on each picture to get an enlarged view. You can see on my Envoy it is quite obvious with the primer showing. The other picture is one I took of a TB still on the lot which came from the factory with the gasket installed.
What really surprised me was a number of people posting here didn't think the chipping was a big deal. Felt they should just accept it as a minor flaw. While it is true the lighter colors won't show as much, it still will make the popping sound and eventually should wear through to the metal.
On your black Envoy, it will show up real nice! Don't worry, the gasket will look and work perfect for you.
General Motors will take cues from station wagons
of the 1960's when it offers its 2004 GMC Envoy
with sliding roof panel over the cargo area.
The Envoy XUV will allow the sport utility to
carry such things as an upright refrigerator,
a grandfather clock or a 6 foot palm tree.
The Envoy XUV is based on the long wheelbase
Envoy XL, which went into production this year.
But instead of the seven passenger seating, the
XUV seats five. The power operated sliding roof
covers what would have been the third passenger
seat. The roof opens toward the front of the
vehicle.
The Envoy XUV will have a cabin door separating
the second row of seats from the cargo area.
When those seats are down the cabin door can be
opened and folded flat into the floor, providing
more cargo capacity.
The Envoy XUV will go into production in late
winter or early spring of 2003.
I think this sounds very interesting

Gam2, I have also experienced serious problems with my vehicle stalling (the computer has been replaced 2 times). Now almost 6k on the newest computer with no problems.
I guess my anxiety is showing. Really, I am curious whether the "flashing the tranny" thing solved your problem. I surely hope you have had some success.

I work 90 miles from Saginaw (in Lansing) and I drove my Grand Am GT into the office today. I will check out my Envoy tonite once I get home and let you know what I can find out. It should be "good and cold" around the time that I will arrive at home. It's outside and dealing with Michigan's harsh elements and very cold climate! Let's keep our fingers crossed!
Take Care,

Actually, the chipping was all the way around on mine, I just picked the worst area that I thought would show up the best in a picture. It showed very well didn't it? Once you get the gasket on (and your memory fades) you'll never know the difference.
I think cmack4 hit it on the head for your display questions. Put your DIC on current mileage and step on it. Goes down to 4mpg real fast. Coast and watch it go way up to unreal MPG. If either of those were true as an average, your total range would also be changing just as dramatically. Nothing wrong, it all makes sense, that's how it works. Isn't it fun to play with all the gadgets on these trucks?
I found one thing missing (on the Bose system no less). Repeat (RPT) button for playing the same song over and over on a CD. Guess that's what I get for being so cheap and not getting the changer. I think you get that feature if you also have the changer. Hey, maybe I can get another TSB going to add the RPT button? ;>)
Then there is still the GM guy with an IDEA. Who knows, he might be able to come through.

Called my dealer today for an update. Nothing. He suggested calling customer service. I did. They said they allow 7-10 working days before they try to expedite a backordered part. Unbelievable. And seeing that the part wasn't ordered until Thursday, even though the problem was known of Tuesday, it could be May 8th until GM expedites the part! Absolutely freakin' unbelievable! A similar situation with my Subaru had customer service looking for a part the same day. GM customer service (what an oxymoron) sucks. Out of respect for those with minimal problems, this will be the last time I will bash GM on this site,
although my opinion will be know off-site. I will keep everyone posted however, when parts are finally found.

One thing that I noticed is that my cooling fan seems to be more active now. It was on briefly when I attempted to accelerate, then it shut off. At this point, I am not sure what to make of it besides stating the obvious.. "It's Unacceptable." it's unacceptable for my vehicle to have a hesitation like an old 89 Buick or something.. I want it to accelerate as powerful off the line as everything else that I drove/drive including my 02 Grand Am GT. I swear, with my GT.. it seems as if it's "meaner" when it's cold. You can actually burn the tires if your not careful. Oh well, I am supposed to take it back in to the dealer once the backordered parts arrive, so I will definitely bring this to their attention. If not, then I am going to have this issue addressed several more times and then try the arbitration route. Heck.. I won a case with GM on my 1996 GMC Jimmy and my 1999 Chrysler both without attorneys so it's gotta be worth a shot! I hate to even consider going this route, but I am not going to keep a vehicle that has a hesitation problem.. it's still NEW for crying out loud! Oh well.. Wish me luck!
Thanks!

This is why car companies will continue to make sub-par vehicles and even worse customer service, just amazes me is all.

Sorry to hear it. There has to be some simple explanation here. I'm not sure what to think though.
I left my Envoy sit for two days and this morning the hesitation was more noticeable than it ever was before. What would explain a behavior like that. It is almost like a battery running down or something. When you drive it a little it recovers, but the longer it sits the worse the condition gets. There was a TSB out that had something to do with problems after setting around for a long time, but I think it was weeks, not overnight or a couple days. I think I'll chase that awhile.
Good Luck and thanks for keeping me posted.
I am happy with my 02 Bravada. Best new car experience I've had. Great paint quality, perfect motor, acceptable mileage, at a great price.
I just had the wandering mirrors and license surround gasket applied at Davis-Moore Olds in Wichita. Great service. Donovan Baker is the Service Writer, he did a great job for me.

02 Bravada, prettiest red I ever saw.
Well.. just for kicks.. they replaced my battery with a new one during the service visit last week? Hmm.. I really don't know what else it could be besides just being completely abnormal. Also, you are right when you mentioned "the longer it sits, the issue becomes more pronounced." It's a hard one to resolve because the dealer basically has only a few chances to notice the hesitation because for the most part, the engine has to be COLD.. not warm or luke-warm. I will more than likely leave my Envoy with them once the parts arrive for several days because I want them to get to the bottom of this, especially since it seems as if this dealership truly cares about my well being. Wish me luck.. I may end up with another loaner car (Ford Focus) for an additional two weeks! YUCK!!

Here's a site that has all the TB accessories with pictures. I'm sure there is an GMC & olds equivalent. I know some folks were wanting to know what the vinyl floor mats look like.
I was wondering if they had corrected this in newer models. I'm probably just going to cut the cap's umbilical cord and remove it to solve the problem.
