Good luck...
I got a quote for 35,950 for a Touring with Nav and RES in Long Island. Thats just the price.. nothing else is included. Is that a good price or can i do better? Whats the price everyone else is getting for a Top of the line Touring Version with DVD and RES.. thanks
Silver/Black. Top of the line.
$35.1K
with accs. (Lock, Door Guard, Moonroof Refl, Hood Refl, Splash Grd) $650. It was late 9pm. I did not bother to negotiable further.
Out the door incl Tax & Tittle
$38.3K
Goodluck....
Cerritos Dealer.
Out the door should be about 32k. Some include extras that others do not include, so do not go only by the price.
I had a slew of accessories added to mine, and the out-the-door was 35k even. I could have saved another $300 to $500 if I wanted to haggle a bit longer, but I wanted a quick turnaround with the installed accessories.
Plus, it was worth paying a little extra to go to the closest dealer that spent the time for the test drive.
I think the dealer that does the test drive deserves a little more. They deserve the last shot, at the very least.
Rick Case Honda is close by but they can't compete on price (theres was at least $1-2k higher) -- I think they have too much overhead on that mega dealership to pay and they have to cover their heavy & high advertising costs. I guess there are also enough affluent people over near that dealership that don't negotiate much and just pay their prices. I bought my last Honda at Rick Case and did not have a great experience so this time around I kept hearing Pompano Honda from several friends and acquaintances and it turned out they were right....Pompano had the lowest no haggle price! I can't stop recommending them!
After reading all these good prices, I'm feeling I'm getting ripped off. Are these prices real? I understand that at $34060, it's already a few hundred below invoice. Or the trade-ins complicate the numbers?
Anyone knows any dealers that can beat $34060 out-the-door in TX? Thanks in advance.
What happened with Charlotte? He gave me the same quote. Was it a scam?
I'm getting $33,000 out the door (all fees included) no extras. As best price. I found one place in Fayetteville area who said he'd do $32,700 ish, but he'd have to locate the color I want.
Let me...last thing I want to do is drive 2 hours to get ripped off!
Appreciate it...go heels!
I'm coming up against $33,000 out the door no extras in NC
What is tax rate in NC? And how much you pay for doc fee, license and title fees? Thanks.
Thanks!
The factory does not apply any "paint protection" nor does Honda charge for same.
This sounds like a store to stay away from.
Here is how I did it:
1. The total invoice before any dealer options like mud flaps is $35,787 according to every site out there (this includes a $595 dest charge). There is a ~$1500.00 hold-back according to consumer reports on this van, so the true dealer cost is about $34.3.
2. I found one that had mud flaps, window tinting, and door edge guards, which I valued at a total of $300.00 (what can you do?).
2. I then decided that I would NOT pay any dealer more than $35,400 + some *reasonable* price for stuff they have added to it, like the mud flaps and the tinting.
3. I called my DMV and asked them what the tax and licensing fees would be on the vehicle, and added that to what I would offer OUT THE door, which brought me to $38.7.
4. I called the "Internet / Fleet" sales department of the dealer and offered $38.7K cash, out the door, no trade. He called me back and said he would do it for $38.8, out the door ($100.00 MORE THAN I OFFERRED). I accepted.
I went through three other dealers before I took this approach. On the first, the dealer told me he would sell it to me for his invoice, but told me his invoice was about $1100.00 higher than it actually is, and he also wanted $1400.00 for window tinting. I said no thanks. This was a traditional "walk into the dealership and haggle" salesman.
A 2nd dealer (Internet/Fleet salesman) was willing to sell me the van for what I was offerring, but also had previously promised a particular amount on a trade-in, and then went back on his word, so I walked from that deal.
A 3rd dealer was willing to sell me the van for what I was offerring, but then added $400.00 in "documentary and administrative fees," and also tried to mark-up licesning and titling fees by an extra $125. I strongly considered it, but then I walked away because he did not have the van.
Dealer #3 gave me the idea of stricly offerring an "out the door price," which prevented the possibility of the dealer adding extra cost in the form of junk fees AFTER accepting my offer, so I saved another $500.00 by determining for myself and factoring into my offer the state licensing and tax fees.
I hope this helps. I am willing to bet that if I had continued shopping, I could have found a dealer who would have accepted an even $35K + taxes and tags because they would still make about $700.00 in profit. The problem is that the Touring w/Nav and RES is somewhat scarce right now, at least down here in Arizona. I heard that they will be more plentiful after mid Feb.
I think you did great. I went through 4 dealers, down here to find one.
I hope this helps someone.
They were the number one quote for me, $2.4k lower than Lake Norman Honda. Out of 15 dealers, Lake Norman was the highest at 35.1k.
Greensboro will match and throw in extras that should get the price to 32.7k but with several hundred dollars of extras. They will throw in the environmental protection package and other freebies.
If you have a local dealer with an offer of 33k, though, that is certainly not a bad deal.
Lake Norman wanted 38.8k for what I just paid 35k for.
I picked up my van today and am loving it!
Here is how I got their orignal internet quote down $1700.
* I obtained an internet quote from Flow for the 2007 Honda Odyssey EL-L R+N
* I test drove the 2007 Honda Odyssey EL-L R+N at Flow
* I selected 25 dealers in NC and created an Excel spreadsheet with all relevant info, with some formulas that calculated against the Flow internet quote as a baseline
* I obtained fax numbers and email addesses for all 25 dealers. (some internet addresses were invalid, though)
* I constructed a professional "Request for Quote" letter.
* I faxed the letter to all 25 dealers (all faxes sent ok)
* I emailed to as many dealers as possible.
* I received 15 responses.
* I sent the 3 lowest quotes to Flow to get the deal. It took me 1 hour to get in and out to pick up the van today. I am pleased with Flow!
Here are some of the results:
Flow Quote, which is the baseline: 36670.83
Lowest quote: 34725.68, -1945k difference
Highest quote: 38871.39 +2201 difference
Lowest invoice: 30585
Highest invoice: 31995 (which was Flow)
OBSERVATIONS:
* Lake Norman and other dealers tended not to follow instructions as specified in the "Request for Quote." This was predicted, however, because many of the salepeople are not trained in professional careers.
* Even though I strongly stated to give the best quote because I would not negotiate beyond the "Request for Quote," the dealers that gave good quotes wanted the business enough to try to persuade me away from the 35k deal. I kept to my word, though.
* Getting low quotes and pitting dealers against each other by name is a good way to get the lowest quote.
* Hendricks Charlotte and Greensboro would have given me the best deals if I was after bottom dollar.
* It was hard to get emails and faxes to send a custom professional letter. I got them over the internet on a Sunday because of my time constraints. Calling the dealers would have yielded a better return.
* Just going to the web sites may produce the same results or better, but I wanted the dealers to vie for my business within 2 days time--and it worked.
I'll go back to Auto Park and give them a final offer...will see what happens.
Thanks.
I went with exl without n&r. Out of the door I paid slightly less than 30K. which translate into a sale price about 26800, aobut 1200 below invoice.
Anyone have any experiences to draw on?
Thanks. Otherwise, I think I can get new $32,700 w/out any hassles or up-sell preasure.
I just bought an EX-L RES 10 days ago (Bell Honda) for $30,532 before TTL. Price includes tint (front), mudguards, cargo tray, destination and doc fee.
What were the other dealers that you worked with. I'm working on a purchase in the Jersey area (EXL with Nav & RES). It'd be great if I could get down to 1200 below invoice, but I think that might be a bit much...?
Thanks
I'm in NC (3%) tax!
Southpoint Honda in Durham was amazing. Proffesional, no pressure, great attitude, great car buying experience.
No reason to run to Charlotte, Concord, Fayetteville, Sanford, or Lake Norman. If you do your homework, the local guys will take care of you.
They offer a free quote off Edmunds.com which sparked me to give them a shot...they really came through. I've found that at a certain point, certain prices ARE too good to be true.
In my case, they were competitive with the best local quote I could find and the service I'll get and money and time I'll save by not being forced to drive two hours, will be well worth it.
Good Luck Y'all!
Price $26,452
Dealer Proc. $349
Tag $250
Tax 6 %
Total $28,450
I think this is lowest for a new EX-L. Only two sales people at the dealership. Still have three EX and one touring left on the lot. Out of state folks, get a one way ticket and pick up the car. Weather is nice in FL.
Contact me if you need any additional info.
Good luck in the crazy car buying world.
Just want to give back to this group. It helped me to save quite bit money. BTW, I really like my new odyssey.
unless they have a higher costs, they are beinng really greedy. Make the short trip and save yourselves some money.
